Or at least his son as the Hungarian studio lets it be known that they're developing a 19th century-set RPG featuring the monster slayer. Details and concept art after the jump.

No details from the initial press release of how the RPG elements will figure in, but Rts/RPG developer Neocore (King Arthur - The Role-Playing Wargame, Crusaders: Thy Kingdom Come) did send along a synopsis and concept art for your edification:

Set in a gothic-noir universe resembling a fantastical 19th century Europe filled with monsters, magic, and weird technology, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing will follow the son of the famed hunter, known in-game as Van Helsing, in a tale »

'Bioshock Infinite' Drifts Into February 2013

9 May 2012 8:00 AM, PDT

That October 16th release date? Ain't happening. Irrational and 2K Games have announced that we'll simply have to wait a few more months to check out the floating, dystopic city of Columbia as Bioshock Infinite slips into next year. In a letter to consumers (you can read it after the jump), the game's Creative Director, Ken Levine explained that this was a simple push to polish what he describes as a "very big game."

So shooter season got a little less crowded this year. Hopefully, we'll see/hear more about throughout the year.

Here's the official message from Ken Levine, Creative Director for Bioshock Infinite:

When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing.

Since then, we’ve come to realize that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, »

The Fullbright Company Reveals 'Gone Home'

9 May 2012 6:57 AM, PDT

By Jeffrey Matulef

The trio of ex-Bioshock developers at The Fullbright Company have revealed their first game to be Gone Home. As we discovered last week, it will be a first-person exploration game without combat set in an unfantastical environment. Along with a batch of screenshots, The Fullbright Company has released some pre-alpha footage."Hopefully the video demonstrates the basics of what Gone Home is all about: exploring a modern, residential locale, and discovering the story of what happened there by investigating a deeply interactive gameworld," explains The Fullbright Company's Steve Gaynor on the studio's official site. "We’re really interested in pushing toward simulation, both in the sense of the physics system but also in allowing the player to open any door or drawer they’d logically be able to and examine what’s inside, down to small details. If we do it right, these interactive and simulation elements »

First Footage of Sony's Ps Vita Dark Fantasy Action Game 'Soul Sacrifice" Emerges

8 May 2012 1:41 PM, PDT

By Jeffrey Matulef

It always strikes me as silly when publishers release a trailer for a trailer, but I'll be darned if this teaser for the Ps Vita fantasy-action game, Soul Sacrifice, doesn't pique my curiosity.

Upon face value, its gritty dark fantasy aesthetic and title resemble From Software's Demon's Souls series, but Soul Sacrifice is being developed by Sony's Japan Studio rather than From Software. Japan Studio did play a hand in creating Demon's Souls, however, and Sony owns the IP, so a spinoff remains a possible, albeit unlikely scenario.

Last month an ad for the game was leaked from the upcoming issue of Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu. Part of the ad translates to, "the action game that shakes your soul."

A Flash ad after the teaser cryptically explains, "It's not about cooperation," before adding "It's about fighting shoulder to shoulder." This hints at some sort of mix between competitive and cooperative gaming, »

Leisure Suit Larry Delays Gratification Until 2013

8 May 2012 12:38 PM, PDT

By Jeffrey Matulef

Last week Replay Games' remake of the original Leisure Suit Larry headed by series creator, Al Lowe, surpassed its Kickstarter goal of $500,000 with $674,232 (including Paypal). Unfortunately, those hoping Leisure Suit Larry would come early will have to hold on a little longer.

Originally expected to be released around October this year, development has been pushed back to early 2013. Turns out extra money means more cool stuff, but also means it'll take more time to make.

"Since all 14,000+ backers made it past the $650k mark you guys get more rooms, another girl, and all new dialogue in the game (from hitting the $550k tier too!)." Replay president Paul Trowe explains on their Kickstarter page. "The bad news is, this has serious ramifications on our ship date.  We were originally planning on shipping in October but since we have to pretty much design a Ton of new stuff (which »

Review: The Wildly Addictive Ride That Is 'Awesomenauts' (Psn, 360)

8 May 2012 11:15 AM, PDT

There was a brief period of about a day or so recently where Awesomenauts's release seemed in jeopardy. Developer Ronimo Games found themselves without a publisher and there were some serious questions about how we'd get to play their 2D Moba game. Ultimately, it's great that Ronimo was about to find a way to make the release of their downloadable game work, because if things had for whatever reason gone the other way, we would have been deprived of one of the more unique takes on the genre with hugely addictive, sophisticated/simple strategic gameplay.

The Basics

Awesomenauts will be familiar to anyone who's played a game like Monday Night Combat: your team's goal is destroy the enemy base, and you've got to get through human/AI opponents, drones, and turrets to win. Ronimo flips the script by changing the perspective to a 2D action platformer.

You Can't Go Wrong With Zombies: 'Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov’s Revenge' Announced For the Ps Vita, PS3

The zombie Rts from Frima gets Cross Play functionality between the PS3 and PlayStation Vita—also fast zombies vs. slow zombies.

The Unreal-powered game is expected sometime in 2013, and comes in two flavors: a single-player campaign as well as a strategy-based multiplayer mode (no word on the number of players).

Here's some additional info from the press release for this upcoming Psn title:

In addition to providing hours of zombie blasting fun, Zombie Tycoon 2 will ambitiously tackle one of the biggest debates in pop culture, pitting classic, shambling zombies against Dr. Brainhov’s new breed of frantic, über-fast undead to open an entirely new dimension of gameplay.

New Video Game Releases for the Week of 5/8: Crafty Games Edition

8 May 2012 9:05 AM, PDT

Space miners, pixel miners, and first-person mystery provide us with our gaming entertainment this week

Title: Starhawk

Platform(s): PS3

The spiritual successor to Warhawk goes space Western in this vehicular and ground-based action shooter. Unlike Warhawk, which had the feel of a space-based Battlfield, Starhawk has added Rts elements, along with an full single-player campaign. You know the drill: you're just a simple space miner, trying to eke out a living when you're caught between two rival factions fighting over a rare energy source. Oh yeah, and you get infected by said energy source, and also there are swarms of rockets.

Multiplayer is going big again, with 32 players although right now the modes seem a little sparse with Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, Team Dm, and Zones mode, but perhaps down the line developer Lightbox Interactive can work in some more objective-style game modes to mix things up a bit. »

It's Official: 'Adventure Time' Is Coming to the DS and 3Ds This Fall

8 May 2012 8:02 AM, PDT

Adventure Time™: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?! is the first retail game from the hit Cartoon Network TV show.

While no logo or assets are available at this time, Cartoon Network and publisher D3 announced that Adventure Time is being developed by WayForward Games, the studio behind A Boy and His Blob along with Batman: The Brave and the Bold for the Wii and DS—and I completely forgot they were responsible for Contra 4, so they're not too shabby a choice to bring Adventure Time to handhelds.

Here's a synopsis of the game's story from Cartoon Network:

In the first licensed Adventure Time video game, Finn and Jake wake up one morning to find their trash stolen by the Ice King. Jake couldn’t care less about half-eaten bananas, crumpled up burrito wrappers, and old chicken diapers – but when they find out the Ice »

New Dead Space and Need for Speed Due by Q1, 2013

8 May 2012 6:30 AM, PDT

By Jeffrey Matulef

EA announced in an earnings call that new titles in their Dead Space and Need for Speed franchises will be released before March 31, 2013. The upcoming Need for Speed title is pegged for Q3 of fiscal year 2013, which equates to around October this year. Meanwhile, Dead Space 3 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2 leaked on South African retailer, BTGames website last month. It was this same retailer that leaked The Jak & Daxter HD Collection a month prior to Sony's official announcement, so the source seems credible enough.

Other upcoming titles EA mentioned include games in such series as: Madden NFL, FIFA, Sim City, Medal of Honor, The Simpsons Tapped Out, and Bejeweled. When asked if the upcoming Dead Space game was in fact Dead Space 3, EA sent out a reply to GameInformer stating, "There’s no further information today but watch for several big product announcements from EA at E3 in June. »

'Eve Online' Still Nuts, Here's How the 'Burn Jita' Event Went Down

7 May 2012 4:15 PM, PDT

A bunch of players in the PC Mmo decide to crash a major trade hub in the game's economy. And they nearly succeeded.

"This weekend has been a milestone for Eve, the first time anyone has declared war on a solar system. The game worked wonderfully." That's from Lazarus Telraven, a member of Goonswarm, a confederation of Eve Online players who amassed a a deadly force in recent days to take down the Jita solar system. Apparently, in the game's nine year existence, this is something of an unprecedented event.

Goonswarm gathered thousands of high-powered in-game ships to attack essentially anything that could fly, sacrificing themselves in combat with other gamers' vessels or against in-game police ships that would spawn instantaneously to take them out. The image above is a heat map representing the thousands of destroyed ships which translated into billions of Isk (Eve Online's currency) in damage. That »

Op-Ed: How The Walking Dead Nails Inhabiting a Defined Character

7 May 2012 3:30 PM, PDT

By Jeffrey Matulef

[Warning: This piece contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: Episode One.]

There's a moment in The Walking Dead game where an attractive reporter mentions that she was rescued by a chubby nerd named Doug. "That guy rescued you?" protagonist, Lee Everett asks, incredulously, before remarking that you never know who's going to be the hero in these situations.

That you don't know how people will react in an emergency is key to The Walking Dead's identity. On the surface, it's about a bunch of survivors in tense situations. Do you throw a little boy out of a hideout because he looks like he's been bit? Should you save the able bodied teenager or the small boy? What about giving a recently infected girl a gun, so she can blow her brains out before turning zombie? These are tough situations with no right answer. How people act during them can be completely incongruous to who they ordinarily are. »

'Lollipop Chainsaw' Will Earn Its M-rating

7 May 2012 3:00 PM, PDT

The game's Esrb rating outs partial nudity, gore, and drugs. Hopefully not all at the same time.

Revealing outfits. Dismemberment. Sex jokes. Yep, this sure sounds like a Grasshopper game. While the studio is plugging away at Killer is Dead, Lollipop Chainsaw is getting set for its June release date, making its way through various certification and ratings processes. The net effect: now we know how crazy Suda51 and English language script writer have decided to go with the story of a cheerleader, her boyfriend's head, a spell-casting goth, and the zombie apocalypse.

Here's the full Esrb summary for the June release:

This is an action game in which players assume the role of Juliet Starling, a zombie-hunting cheerleader who must prevent the apocalypse. Players use a chainsaw, explosive rounds, and special attacks (e.g., performing cheerleading routines; mowing down enemies with a crop harvester) to kill zombies in melee-style combat. »

Jane Jensen Hints at a New Gabriel Knight Game

7 May 2012 1:45 PM, PDT

By Jeffrey Matulef

Gabriel Knight creator Jane Jensen recently suggested in an interview with Polygon that her long dormant globe-trotting archaeological mystery series may resurface sometime soon.

The Gabriel Knight series spanned three titles from 1993's Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father to 1999's Gabriel Knight: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned. Recently, Jensen founded her new Kickstarter-based company, Pinkerton Road. Jensen describes the studio's first game, Moebius, as a "metaphysical adventure in the vain of Dante's Equation, Gray Matter, and Gabriel Knight." In a more recent Kickstarter update she promises a second project funded by a publisher and describes this "mystery game x" as "a third-person adventure game" and "a dark mystery of the kind you would normally associate with me." "You will be excited," she adds.

Jensen admits that while she's "mentally moved on" from Gabriel Knight, she would like to revisit the rogueish detective/novelist »
