Why 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Has the Perfect Movie Soundtrack

There are many things Guardians of the Galaxy has.  -- It has a great story about believing in who you are and what you can accomplish. -- It has a bunch of cool aliens you've never seen before. -- It has a fantastic lead hero whose charisma radiates above and beyond his intergalactic ass-kicking skills. -- It has Rocket Raccoon and Groot -- two of the most unique, exciting and memorable characters we've seen in years. We're talking instant-classic kind of characters. How many of you already own their toys and haven't even seen the movie yet? See, exactly.   -- It has a director (James Gunn) whose passion for the material and love for his main characters is not only shown, but felt. A lot.  -- It has this scene....

Watch: 'The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies' Trailer Marches into War

29 July 2014 9:52 AM, PDT

Originally the last film in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit series was to be called There and Back Again. However, Jackson and the studio decided to add in a third movie to the franchise, and that title was dropped because it no longer represented the last movie. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (in theaters December 17) was declared to be a more fitting title. It's also a way to declare your movie is going to have some serious action in it. Here's the first poster. In addition to that poster above, the first teaser trailer for The Battle of the Five Armies has arrived online following its Comic-Con premiere, and it most certainly promises to be a solemn affair where Middle-earth is ravaged by war. It looks like the movie picks up right where The...

'Mad Max: Fury Road' Trailer: See What Blew Everyone Away at Comic-Con

28 July 2014 7:44 AM, PDT

The first trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road has arrived online and man is it cool. This is a smaller version of what was shown over the weekend at Comic-Con, and for many, it was the most impressive footage -- not just because it's rad as hell, but also in the way it so faithfully and passionately recaptures the wicked look, tone and feel of the original Mad Max franchise, or more specifically its second installment, The Road Warrior, which first hit theaters all the way back in 1981.   Check out the four impressive character posters that debuted along with the trailer below, and let us know what you think of the whole crazy thing. Mad Max: Fury Road hits theaters on May 15, 2015.

Watch: 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' Teaser Trailer Is Here

28 July 2014 7:35 AM, PDT

Following its buzzed-about Comic-Con debut, the first official teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 has now arrived online, and it teases some pretty dark days ahead for not only Katniss, but for all of Panem, too. Watch it below. The footage is both fierce and emotional, setting up big action spectacle (like a sequence where hundreds of Capitol police chase Panem citizens through the woods), and a dire situation where a beaten-up Katniss returns home to a ruined District 12 only to be confronted by her own people. "Are you here to fight with us?" one small boy asks Katniss. "I am. I will," she somewhat reluctantly replies.  It'll be fun to see how Katniss evolves in this film to become more of a leader instead of a survivor,...

Justice League: Reportedly, Warner Bros. wants Chris Terrio, who won an Oscar for Argo and recently completed script work on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, to write the screenplay for Justice League. Terrio was brought onto Batman v Superman after David S. Goyer (Batman, Man of Steel) became "too busy" with other projects to do another rewrite. [Deadline]   Money Monster: TriStar Pictures is "nearing a deal" to pick up Jodie Foster's Money Monster, starring George Clooney. The studio would finance the picture -- a $30 million deal in itself -- and also distribute it.
