The Chinese-based Bona Film Group finalized the biggest deal to come out of the Cannes Film Festival, shelling out $80 million for a new World War II thriller Midway, which has Roland Emmerich set to direct. Bona Film Group has acquired worldwide film distribution rights for every market except the U.S., with CAA brokering the deal and representing the U.S. rights. It isn't clear if there is a domestic distributor being lined up quite yet, but this project is said to be Roland Emmerich's next film.

James Bond Actors Pay Tribute to Sir Roger Moore

The world lost a legend today, as Sir Roger Moore, the man who played 007 in seven James Bond movies, passed away after losing a battle with cancer. Moore, who was 89 years old, was the man who played the character for the longest and brought a very distinct style to the role of Bond. Now, his fellow James Bond stars have released statements, paying tribute to the late actor.

Roger Moore famously took over the lead role in the James Bond franchise following Sean Connery's departure once he completed Diamonds are Forever. Despite Connery's mixed feelings toward the producers of the franchise, he never harbored ill will for Roger Moore and released a statement to Entertainment Weekly following the news of his passing. Here's what he had to say.

"I was very sad to hear of Roger's passing. We had an unusually long relationship, by Hollywood standards, that was filled with jokes and laughter. »

The Predator Poster Changes Classic Quote, Is This a Bad Sign?

A new teaser poster for Shane Black's The Predator reboot has been revealed and it puts a new twist on a classic quote from the original John McTiernan movie from 1987. While we've seen one picture of a Predator from the set in Vancouver, that's about all we know aside from the cast. Even the photo doesn't shed much light about what could be happening in the movie unless Predator hunters have teamed up with humans to fight something worse than humans and Predator hunters. Or maybe they're just joyriding in a tank. An official teaser poster has been spotted at the Licensing Expo currently being held in Las Vegas.

The new teaser poster comes to us courtesy of Collider and it contains a twist on a familiar quote from the original movie. The line, "You are one beautiful mother &@%!$" is credited to Olivia Munn's character Casey from the upcoming The Predator. »

Janelle Monae to Lead Charlie's Angels Reboot in 2019?

Nearly two years after Elizabeth Banks was first sought to direct Sony's Charlie's Angels remake, the project is finally moving forward with new writers. The studio has brought on Narcos creators Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro to rewrite the script, which was first worked on by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast). While no cast members are in place yet, this report claims that Janelle Monae (Hidden Figures, Moonlight) is at the top of the studio's "wish list" for one of the Angels.

The Tracking Board reports that Sony wants at least one of the Angels to be black, and while Janelle Monae is at the top of the studio's list, casting hasn't even started yet since the script isn't finished. This report also claims that Sony will hand out a "prime 2019 release date" very soon for Charlie's Angels, although there is no indication as to what this date may be. »

New Halloween Movie Poster Is Perfect

It's been a long time since we've seen the iconic horror figure Michael Myers on screen, and even longer since we've seen a good Halloween movie, for that matter. But with Blumhouse currently working on a new Halloween that creator John Carpenter has approved and is producing, there is hope on the horizon. To further fuel the hopefulness many of us have for this latest Halloween entry, we now have a look at the first promo poster, and it is very reminiscent of the original classic.

Blumhouse brought some of their upcoming titles to the Licensing Expo, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas, and one of those titles just so happens to be Halloween Returns. As such, they have the first couple of promo posters on display. Both feature the same image, but one is more of a wide, full display, while the other is a more thin, »

Deadpool Crashes the Logan Honest Trailer

To celebrate their 200th episode of Honest Trailers, Screen Junkies gave fans what they have been asking for since March: the Honest Trailer of Logan. Could Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Logan be an Oscar contender? Probably not after the Honest Trailer takes it down a peg or two. Before their trailer even begins, Screen Junkie is bombarding the screen with social media posts begging for the Honest Trailer of the critically acclaimed Logan, and they have decided to deliver the goods. But that's not all, to celebrate this momentous occasion, they have enlisted the help of none other than Deadpool, (aka Ryan Reynolds in character) to roast his Marvel buddy.

The Honest Trailer YouTube video points out some characteristics that make Logan standalone to the Wolverine and X-Men movies that came before. For one, Logan does not rely on an ensemble cast of fellow mutants to help push (or drag) the story along. »

Baywatch Movie Review: A Riptide of Lousy Jokes and Beautiful Bodies

Break out the sunscreen. The buff and bouncy lifeguards of Emerald Bay hit the big screen in a goofball adaptation of the 90's TV series. Baywatch embraces its trite source material with gusto. Hamming up the absurdity, but failing to deliver consistent laughs throughout. There are a few humorous moments that earn the R-rating. Unfortunately the vast majority of edgy content is the cast dropping F-bombs. Baywatch has the expected eye-candy, but is not clever or well made. It does not reach the level of 21 Jump Street or Chips.

Dwayne Johnson stars as Mitch Buchannon, the overzealous team leader of a renowned lifeguard squad. He's got three new recruits, Ronnie (Jon Bass), a nerdy It guy obsessed with the statuesque blonde C.J. (Kelly Rohrbach); Summer (Alexandra Daddario), a sarcastic surfer, and Matt Brody (Zac Efron), a disgraced Olympic swimmer on probation. Brody does not fit into the gung-ho, crime-solving mentality of the team. »

Can Baywatch Beat Pirates 5 at the Memorial Day Box Office?

Marvel's two-week summer reign came to an end this past weekend, when Alien: Covenant ($36.1 million) unseated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($34.6 million) in a close race at the box office. The R-rated sci-fi thriller's time at the top of the box office charts will be quite short-lived, though, with this Memorial Day weekend featuring two highly-anticipated movies squaring off against each other, Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and Paramount's Baywatch, although Baywatch will get a bit of a head start, opening on Thursday, May 25 instead of Friday, May 26. Still, this won't change the fact that Pirates 5 should have no trouble walking away with the box office crown, with a three-day tally of $81.2 million and a four-day total of $96.4 million.

Box Office Mojo reports that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be released in more than 4,000 theaters, which is no surprise »

Roger Moore, Former James Bond Actor, Passes Away at 89

Roger Moore, who is best known for playing James Bond in seven movies throughout the 70s and 80s, has passed away at the age of 89. The actor succumbed to cancer. The veteran star died in Switzerland. It has been announced that he will have a private funeral in Monaco in accordance with his wishes.

To some, Roger Moore is the only James Bond that matters. To others, he is the quintessential Bond, personifying the sexiness and cool European swagger that made his take on the character slightly different than those that came before him and those that followed. He was the first to present Bond with a grand sense of humor, that hasn't been matched in any of other movies in this long running series. But no matter what your stance on the matter is, Moore is one of the best Bonds to ever sip a Martini and chase both »
