Roberto Orci's 'Amazing Spider-Man 3' Exit Leaves the Franchise in Limbo

Back in October, writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Jeff Pinkner signed on to write the screenplay for The Amazing Spider-Man 3. But that was months before longtime collaborators Orci and Kurtzman decided to end their partnership this past April. That news left many fans wondering how who this would affect the sequel, especially since Roberto Orci is now set (though not officially) to write and direct Star Trek 3, while Alex Kurtzman focuses on directing The Sinister Six spin-off.

During a recent interview with IGN, Roberto Orci confirmed that he is "not officially involved" with The Amazing Spider-Man 3, while hinting that Sony isn't sure how to move forward with this expanded franchise.

"I don't know what their plans are for that franchise. I don't ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I've »

During a Reddit Ama session, the filmmaker reveals that he doesn't have Hellboy 3 "on the horizon," but he did share new details about the story, even though the project is currently dead.

"Well, you know, we don't have that movie on the horizon, but the idea for it was to have Hellboy finally come to terms with the fact that his destiny, his inevitable destiny, is to become the beast of the Apocalypse, and having him and Liz face the sort of, that part of his nature, and he has to do it, in order to be able to ironically vanquish the foe that he has to face in the 3rd film. Relativity Takes 'Cliffhanger' Writer's Untitled Sci-Fi Drama

Relativity Media has acquired an untitled spec screenplay from writer Joe Gazzam, who signed on to write the Cliffhanger reboot for StudioCanal in May.

Details are being kept under wraps, but the plot is described as a Man on Fire type of story that centers on a father and son, with a sci-fi element in place. Relativity emerged victorious in a competitive bidding war for the script, which was sold in a six-figure deal that closed earlier this week.

Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen, and Ahmet Zappa and Devon Schiff are producing, although no production schedule was released at this time.

Joe Gazzam also sold his script Shadow Run to Sony Pictures back in February. He was hired back in 2009 to write the Barbarella reboot, which still hasn't gotten off the ground yet. »

Joel McHale Promises the 'Community' Movie Will Be Epic

Last month, the hopes and prayers of Community fans were answered when Yahoo! Screen picked up the cancelled NBC sitcom with a 13-episode order slated to debut this fall. The last-minute pickup brought Community even closer to "six seasons and a movie," a phrase Abed (Danny Pudi) uttered in Season 2 that became an unofficial slogan, of sorts, for the series. Now that Season 6 is actually happening, series star Joel McHale hinted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Yahoo! Screen may even pick up the movie as well.

"People are already talking about (it)."

He added that series creator Dan Harmon and writer/executive producer Chris McKenna are planning to make an "epic" movie that won't be "like an episode," although the actor doesn't believe the script is being written at this time.

When you use the words "epic" and Community in the same sentence, many fans think of the infamous paintball episodes, »

An insider claims that Colin Farrell fills the character type HBO is looking for, a true movie star who is both rugged and gritty. The actor is said to be very close to signing his deal. At this time, it's not known if Taylor Kitsch has officially entered negotiations.

Tron: Legacy star Garrett Hedlund is also rumored to be »

Yesterday, True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto revealed plenty of new information about Season 2, including the fact that it will feature 4 main leads. Today, it looks like one of those central characters will be portrayed by Colin Farrell.

Colin Farrell is currently in deep negotiations to portray one of the main characters, in a storyline that takes place in the lesser known areas of California. The story may also deal with the little known occult history of the U.S. transportation system, but Nic Pizzolatto doesn't want to confirm that just yet.

Colin Farrell will follow in the footsteps of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, who both earned Emmy nominations for their roles in True Detective Season 1. Michael Douglas Talks 'Ant-Man' and Comic-Con on 'Late Show with David Letterman'

Earlier in the week, Michael Douglas confirmed that he is heading to San Diego with his son Dylan for Comic-Con 2014 to promote his upcoming Marvel adventure Ant-Man. He went on Late Show with David Letterman last night, and talked more about the event, claiming that Marvel has a whole 'evening and night' planned, though the studio has yet to confirm its schedule or day of arrival.

Neither David Letterman nor Michael Douglas seems too interested in comic books. When the late night host brings up the subject, the actor had this to say.

"I'm not a comic guy. A couple of people on your staff know about it. I don't think it was one of your major ones...One of your super ones and all that...But this is about an ant..."

Michael Douglas then explains to Letterman that he's not really allowed to talk about the upcoming Phase Three adventure. »
