How to Watch 'The Interview' Right Now

It's Christmas Eve, and Sony has released their comedy The Interview a day earlier than expected. Despite how you may or may not feel about the movie after you watch it, one thing is for certain: The Interview has earned its place in the history books for a number of different reasons. After being pulled from theaters because of a terrorist threat, Sony changed their minds and now The Interview is being released in 331 independent theaters on Christmas day. If you're still afraid that terrorists might blow up any of these theaters, Sony has also made the movie available to rent on a number of streaming services. And if you feel there is some kind of government agenda behind this whole ordeal, maybe you want to grab it off a torrent site in your own ode to freedom! Well, don't fret. Here's a list of where and how you can »

Best known for comedic performances in CBS' 2 Broke Girls, Marvel's Thor and Universal's The 40 Year Old Virgin, Kat Dennings takes on a role like never before in the first trailer for To Write Love on Her Arms. Sony hasn't released a specific release date at this time, but the film is expected to hit theaters in March 2015.

Final 'Wedding Ringer' Trailer Starring Kevin Hart

24 December 2014 10:58 AM, PST

Just one month after the red band trailer arrived, Sony Pictures has released a final trailer for The Wedding Ringer. Kevin Hart and Josh Gad lead a cast including Kaley Cuoco, Affion Crockett, Jorge Garcia and Cloris Leachman. This comedy offers a new look at the business of matrimony, and one unique service provided for men about to tie the knot.

In The Wedding Ringer, Jimmy (Hart) provides best man services for socially challenged guys, who - for whatever reason - have no one close enough to agree to stand by them on the day of their wedding. Doug (Gad) a groom-to-be, has found himself in just such a situation, but, to make matters worse, he fabricates the names of not only a best man but nine groomsmen as well. When all else fails, Doug seeks out Jimmy's services to carry out a charade designed to make Doug look his best, »

5 Most Overlooked Movies of 2014

24 December 2014 10:40 AM, PST

It's that time of the year again, when not-so-jolly critics start making those lists, checking them twice, to break down an entire year of movies in list form. Last year, I split up my year-end piece into three separate stories, Most Overrated, Most Underrated and my Top 10. This year, I'm changing things up again, ever so slightly, discarding the Overrated category entirely. It's a category I always seem to have trouble with it, and, this year, only two of my picks were wide releases, with another that hasn't even hit theaters yet. I'm also changing the Underrated list to "Overlooked," since it fits better with what I'm trying to say: that these five movies below are truly fantastic, but simply weren't given their just due in theaters.

That's not to say I'm completely surprised that this quintet is overlooked. After all, the "widest" release for all of these films was a whopping 63 theaters, »

'Santa' Terrifies Children in Christmas Horror Short

24 December 2014 10:29 AM, PST

Tomorrow night, millions of children around the world will try to stay up as late as they possibly can, just so they can get a glimpse of Santa Claus himself. Two Greek filmmakers named Dionysis & Manos Atzarakis have provided us with their new short film dubbed simply Santa, which may cause anyone, young or old, to think twice about waking up in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve. Take a look at the filmmakers' statement below.

"We are a group of filmmakers from Greece and a few months ago we released a short 90-second horror film called Santa. It's a short horror tale with a different take on Santa Claus. Seeing as we are approaching Christmas we thought we'd let you know about our film just in case you might find it suitable for sharing with your audience at this time of the year."

Adam Sandler Named Most Overpaid Actor of 2014

24 December 2014 10:25 AM, PST

The end of December is full of lists, highlighting the best and worst aspects of the year, in practically every aspect of our society, including movies. While the nation's critics have been filing their top 10 lists over the past few weeks, Forbes offers their own top 10, analyzing which Hollywood actors are the most overpaid. For the second year in a row, Adam Sandler has topped the list, "beating out" stars such as Johnny Depp and Ben Stiller. Here's an excerpt from Forbes' story, where they explain how they came up with this list.

"To compile our rundown of Hollywood's Most Overpaid Actors we use earnings estimates from our Celebrity 100 list. We look at the last three films each actor starred in before June 2014, since that was the end of our time frame for the Celeb 100. We don't include animated films or movies where the actor appears in a cameo or a very small role, »

24 December 2014 10:19 AM, PST

The Guardians of Peace, the organization that has taken responsibility for the Sony Hack, have remained relatively quiet ever since Sony officially announced that The Interview will screen in over 300 Independent theaters starting Christmas Day. While the leak of Sony emails has seemed to cease, there are still stacks and stacks of documents various media outlets are sifting through. Most of the more damaging stuff has already been revealed to the public. But a few new pieces of news in interest to genre fans is still coming though. And today, we get a look at what Drew Goddard has planned for his Spider-Man spinoff The Sinister Six, which includes a skyscraper-sized Sandman who, at one time, may have been played by Tom Hardy.

At the time the email was written, Tom Hardy was in contention to play Doctor Strange for Marvel Studios and Disney. Drew Goddard wanted him to play »

'Avengers 2': Ruffalo Talks Hulk, Black Widow and Ultron

24 December 2014 9:40 AM, PST

We've already heard rumors that the Marvel Cinematic Universe landscape will be altered forever with Avengers: Age of Ultron, but we likely won't know the extent of this change before the Phase Two sequel arrives in theaters May 1, 2015. Obviously, the villainous Ultron (James Spader) will have a lot to do with what is happening, and we've reported in the past that Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark actually creates Ultron, although his creation turns against him, and the rest of humanity. During a recent interview with Total Film, Mark Ruffalo hinted that his character, Bruce Banner will have a hand in Ultron's creation. While he doesn't outright say that Banner is responsible for Ultron, his comments certainly allude to Banner's role in Ultron coming into power, while confirming that Banner has been living at Stark Tower.

"Banner's been living in Stark Tower. They've been working side by side and Bruce has his own lab now. »

'The Interview' TV Spots: Franco and Rogen Are Back!

24 December 2014 7:48 AM, PST

The Interview has had quite a storied path to release. Originally set to debut in theaters this past October, it was pulled so that it wouldn't correspond with North Korea's Party Foundation Day, as the film depicts the assassination of the country's leader Kim Jong-un. It was moved to Christmas day, but then pulled again because of a terrorist threat against theaters set to show the movie. But now, The Interview will screen in over 300 independent theaters across the country. To celebrate its return, Sony has released three new TV spots.

These latest previews come after the Studio spent a lot of time, energy and money completely wiping out all promotional materials for the film, including billboards and posters, and all video assetts. Sony also scrubbed The Interview's social media presence. It took down both its Facebook page and Twitter account. But now, the studio is working to set everything back in place. »

Mark Wahlberg Calls 'Six Billion Dollar Man' a Superhero

24 December 2014 7:18 AM, PST

While singer-turned-actor Mark Wahlberg may be considered a Hollywood renaissance man, there is one entertainment occupation he has yet to hold down. And that's portraying a superhero. While he has a vast amount of different genre films under his belt, he's never donned a cape or a pair of spandex pants. And while that won't change anytime soon, he does claim his upcoming adaptation of the 70s action series The Six Million Dollar Man, now aptly called The Six Billion Dollar Man, will fall into the comic book genre.

Speaking with Collider to promote his Christmas day release The Gambler, he was asked if he'd ever want to take on a superhero movie. He answers this by revealing that The Six Billion Dollar Man will actually be portrayed as a superhero. Just not the kind we're used to seeing. Though, he won't start on the movie until after he's finished Deepwater Horizon. »

Is This Michael Keaton's Unused 'Batman 3' Costume?

23 December 2014 6:21 PM, PST

After the success of Batman and Batman Returns in 1989 and 1992, star Michael Keaton and director Tim Burton were set to return for a third Batman adventure, although it didn't quite work out. Warner Bros. wasn't a fan of Tim Burton's darker approach to the iconic character, and his version was discarded in favor of a lighter approach, which resulted in Joel Schumacher's 1995 adventure Batman Forever. More than 20 years later, images have surfaced from what may have been Michael Keaton's new Batsuit from Batman 3, although they may also just be unused designs from Batman Returns.

TheMovies.za found these images on the Brotherhood of the Bat forums, which reportedly came from Jose Fernandez, who sculpted "small armatures" of Michael Keaton in his new costume when he was still attached to the film. While the grey designs are much different than the all-black Batsuit in Batman and Batman Returns, »

23 December 2014 5:52 PM, PST

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. debuted the first official photo from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. The image arrived as part of the studio's big 2015 movie preview. It offered a first look at the film's trio of stars, Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander, sitting around a table drinking Scotch after some kind of battle ensued. Now, we get our second image from the upcoming adaptation of the popular TV series, and it promises even more action.

In The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Henry Cavill stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer as Illya Kuryakin. Marvel's 'Ant-Man' Trailer Is Coming Soon

23 December 2014 5:09 PM, PST

Before Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters, everyone thought it was a huge risk for Marvel. Fans proved that notion wrong, as the movie went onto become the biggest release of 2014. Its doubtful that Ant-Man will fare as well, since it is being released alongside Disney's two juggernauts Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Age of Ultron. But its no longer seen as a risk for Marvel Studios, and fans are becoming more and more interested in the title as its release grows nearer. That excitement should triple once the first trailer hits, which will be very soon. The only question is when and where will we see it first?

The Alberta Films Rating board has confirmed that they received the finished trailer, and they have rated it PG. The teaser runs exactly 1 minute and 48 seconds, which is 20 seconds longer than the recent Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. »
