Blomkamp's 'Alien' Movie Won't Rewrite Franchise Continuity

One of the biggest stories yesterday came from director Neill Blomkamp, who stated that his Untitled Alien Sequel will be connected to the original 1979 classic Alien and its 1986 sequel Aliens. Those comments were believed to imply that his movie will essentially eradicate Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection, but, apparently that's not the case. While continuing his promotional tour for Chappie, the director revealed that his movie will not "undo" the last two sequels.

"My favorites are the first two movies, so I want to make a film that's connected to Alien and Aliens. That's my goal. I'm not trying to undo Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection, I just want it to be connected to Alien 1 and 2."

Of course, we know absolutely nothing about the story thus far, except that it will bring back Sigourney Weaver as her iconic Ripley character. Still, since Ripley was killed in Alien 3 and brought »

Neill Blomkamp: I Messed Up 'Elysium'!

After making his directorial debut with the 2009 Best Picture nominee District 9, Neill Blomkamp certainly became a filmmaker that everyone had their eyes on. His follow-up, 2013's Elysium, was received fairly well by the nation's critics (68% on Rotten Tomatoes) and took in over $286 million worldwide, from a $115 million budget, although some considered it a failed effort. While doing the press rounds for his new film Chappie, the filmmaker spoke candidly about Elysium in an interview with Uproxx, stating that he believes he "f---ed it up."

"So, let's say you make District 9 and it does well. So, now, a normal director is like, "Sh*t, I've got this pressure because this last film did well and I hope this one lives up to it." I don't have that. It definitely doesn't bother me. The thing that bothers me is if I feel like I f---ed it up."

Joss Whedon Promises Epic, Unhinged 'Avengers 2' Ending

In 2012, Marvel's The Avengers set the bar for every superhero movie to follow, grossing a massive $1.5 billion worldwide while resetting the table for Marvel Phase Two. With the sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron just a few months away, director Joss Whedon teased a number of new details in an interview with Yahoo! Movies UK, including his attempt to spoil the "completely unhinged climax," the possibility of an Avenger romance, details about how the new characters fit into the story, and much more. While the filmmaker didn't necessarily intend for the sequel to be "larger" than its predecessor, Joss Whedon explains that is exactly what happened.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron got larger than the first film. I didn't mean for it to get larger, but the climax that I pitched was completely unhinged and nobody said no, so that's that."

There have already been plenty of rumors that Avengers: Age of Ultron »

'Fantastic Four' Director Talks Thing and Human Torch

During a new interview with Empire, director Josh Trank say he wanted to stay away from the tone of the first two Fantastic Four movies, which he thought were too "cartoonish," adding that he is steering this reboot in a darker direction, as opposed to the comic books.

"The original two films to me are very similar to a lot of recent movies that have come out, in terms of that kind of cartoonish.
