Trump Uses 13 Minutes of 48-Minute Cpac Speech To Bash ‘Dishonest’ Media

President Donald Trump spent roughly 13 minutes talking about the media during a 48-minute Cpac speech on Friday, but it surely felt like longer for journalism watchdogs monitoring the president’s near-constant attacks on the press. Trump called the media “dishonest” less than three minutes into his speech, when he mentioned that the press would report he didn’t get a standing ovation unless the crowd eventually sat down. “They are the worst,” he said, referring to the press, as chants of “USA, USA, USA” broke out. China’s Wanda Takes Equity Stake in The Weinstein Company’s ‘Lion’

China’s Dalian Wanda Group has taken an equity stake in The Weinstein Company’s “Lion” and plans to distribute the Oscar-nominated film in China, TheWrap has learned. Wanda and TWC previously collaborated on Antoine Fuqua’s “Southpaw” in 2014, which the Chinese company co-produced. With the deal, TWC gets Chinese distribution for the film — turbocharged with the backing of Wanda, which is the country’s biggest cinema chain operator and hasn’t been afraid to exercise that power. Wanda-backed “Warcraft” opened on 67 percent of the country’s available screens last summer. Also Read: Alicia Vikander's 'Tulip Fever' »

Bill Cosby Sex Assault Trial: Judge Allows Only 1 Other Accuser to Testify, Not 13

A judge ruled Friday that only one other accuser will be allowed to testify in Bill Cosby’s upcoming sexual assault trial. Prosecutors had planned to call 13 other women to the stand to testify against Cosby on charges that he drugged and raped them, according to USA Today. The trial stems from accusations made by former Temple University employee Andrea Constand, who claims Cosby assaulted her at his estate near Philadelphia in 2004. She will testify along with the one other accuser who says she was assaulted by Cosby in 1996. Pop star Kesha is set to star in Maker Studios’ new animated series “Highly Gifted,” TheWrap has learned. The “Tik Tok” singer will be joined by Drake Bell and Ron Funches in the comedy project from the Lehrer Boys. “Highly Gifted” is a semi-autobiographical show based on the Lehrer brothers’ years of being shunted to highly-gifted programs, where they existed in a precarious intellectual bubble within the larger school — an exotic and forbidden world, where people went on dates, attended sporting events, partied, and engaged in other exotic and mysterious rites and ceremonies. Cpac Attendees Wave Donald Trump Flags That Look Suspiciously Russian (Photos)

The day President Donald Trump addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference (Cpac), there were numerous people in the crowd waving tiny flags that bore a striking resemblance to the Russian flag. “Crowd at Cpac waving these little pro-Trump flags that look exactly like the Russian flag,” reported Peter Hamby, a former CNN reporter and current head of news for Snapchat. “Staffers quickly come around to confiscate them.” It is unclear at this time, however, if the flags were meant to be pro-Trump or distributed as a form of protest. Questions of the Trump administration’s ties to Russia have dogged the President both. »

Ratings: ‘The Blacklist Redemption’ Premiere Can’t Save NBC’s Night

A healthy “Grey’s Anatomy” led ABC to TV ratings victory in the key 18-49 demographic on Thursday — and the two-hour “How to Get Away With Murder” season finale after didn’t drag the network’s primetime average down too too much. On NBC, the soft series debut of “The Blacklist Redemption” couldn’t absolve the network from a fourth place demo tie with Fox. Univision actually beat both of them handily with awards show “Premios Lo Nuestro.” CBS topped the evening in overall viewers, with the Disney broadcaster finishing as runner-up by that metric. He also said that Streep ultimately decided to wear a designer who would pay her — claims the lauded actress has denied. “I made a sketch, and we started to make the dress,” Chanel’s head designer told Women’s Wear Daily, adding that days later, he received a phone call from Streep’s team. “‘Don’t continue the dress. We found somebody who will pay us,'” Lagerfeld said he was told. According to the publication, »

Seth Meyers just took a seven iron to Donald Trump. The “Late Night” host examined the leader of the free world’s golf habits Thursday in “A Closer Look.” What the NBC personality uncovered was a bit troubling. “You played golf six times in one month?” Meyers set up, for starters. “Are you the President of the United States, or a San Diego dentist?” Also Read: Seth Meyers Offers Ultimate 'Oscar Bait' Film of the Season (Video) Half-a-dozen rounds in a few weeks is quite a bit for anyone with a job — especially the person with arguably the most important position on the. »

President Trump Continues Assault on Media at Cpac: ‘They Make Up Sources’ (Video)

President Donald Trump continued his on-going assault on the media Friday during his Cpac speech, saying, “There are some terrible, dishonest people” among the press and he is going to do something about it. “A few days ago I called the fake news the enemy of the people, and they are. They are the enemy of the people because they have no sources, they just make them up when there are none,” Trump said before bashing a recent story that he said cited nine sources. “There are no nine people,” he said. “I don’t believe there was one or two people… »

‘Morning Joe’ Accuses Kellyanne Conway of Being a ‘Leaker Extraordinaire’ (Video)

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough accused White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway of being a “leaker extraordinaire” on Friday, shortly after President Trump tweeted about leakers in the FBI. Scarborough was discussing how Trump staffers Steve Bannon, Jared Kushner and Reince Priebus might have different views, but don’t leak information about each other. That’s when he threw Conway under the bus. “This could sound ugly but it’s just not. It’s just the truth. I am reporting. Jordan Peele, James Corden and Nick Kroll’s ’90s Boy Band Only Sang About Hardcore Sex (Video)

Backstreet Boys, *Nsync and 98 Degrees dominated the summer of 1999. The three pop music groups were so popular, readers probably missed out on another star-studded boy band: Thr33way. James Corden, Jordan Peele and Nick Kroll formed the little-known crew back then — the first “honest boy band,” as they called it. And the trio took an interesting approach to the bubble-gum stuff. “We took existing boy band songs, cut through all the innuendo, and just got to the heart of what those songs were really about — hardcore sex,” Kroll said Thursday during a “Late Late Show” sketch. ‘Get Out’ Peels Off $1.8 Million at Thursday Box Office

Jordan Peele’s horror film “Get Out” earned $1.8 million at the Thursday box office when it opened in 2,240 theaters. Heading into the weekend, tracking analysts had anticipated Peele’s directorial debut to open in the high-teen millions with the potential to debut as high as $24 million. The thriller stars Allison Williams, Daniel Kaluuya, Bradley Whitford and Catherine Keener. The question this weekend will be whether “Get Out” can finally dethrone “The Lego Batman Movie” from the top box office spot. If “Get Out” makes $24 million, that would be enough for the film to take the No. 2 spot from “Fifty Shades. »

Conan Tries to Convince Mexicans to Pay for Trump’s Border Wall (Video)

Conan O’Brien’s recent trip to Mexico included a (failed) pledge drive to try and get Mexican citizens to pay for President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall. The late night host made his way around Mexico City with a wall-shaped piggy bank asking people to help build the wall. If they pledged 500 pesos, they got their name on a brick. 1000 pesos scored you a handsome tote bag and a signed picture of Trump that says, “Moochas gracias.” The segment is a preview of O’Brien’s latest hour-long travel special that will see him explore Mexico. He has previously traveled to countries. »

Stephen Colbert Launches ‘Real News Tonight’ to Keep Trump Off Twitter (Video)

Apparently, there’s only one way to keep President Trump off of Twitter, and Stephen Colbert spent Thursday exploiting that. Per a Politico report, the Potus really only abuses social media when he’s feeling attacked by the actual media, so his staff has made a concerted effort to only expose our nation’s top executive to the good stuff. The “Late Show” host likes what they’re doing down in DC, and he’s prepared to pitch in. In that vein, the CBS personality launched “Real News Tonight,” an all-praise channel aimed solely at the president. Their top story? »

Spirit Awards Will Be a ‘Moonlight’ Serenade, Not an Oscar Rehearsal

The Film Independent Spirit Awards are supposed to be loose, fun and low-pressure, but in recent years the show has labored in the shadow of something big and tension-filled: the Academy Awards. That’s because the Spirit Awards, which once went 24 years without ever having the same best picture winner as the Oscars, and 26 years with only one duplicate winner, has in the last five years gotten positively Oscar-happy. “The Artist” won the top prize at the Spirit Awards in 2011, and then the next day won Best Picture at the Oscars. “12 Years a Slave” did the same thing »
