'The Hobbit' Debuts With $17.8M at China Box Office

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" has opened to an impressive $17.8 million in China, distributor Warner Bros. said Sunday, and it is bearing down on $1 billion at the global box office. The official China Film numbers will not be available until Monday, but the haul helped the "Lord of the Rings" prequel collect $18.6 million from 44 territories over the weekend, and raise its international total to more than $679 million. Quvenzhané Wallis to Star in 'Annie' for Overbrook, Sony

Quvenzhané Wallis, nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for "Beasts of the Southern Wild," will star in the title role of a new film production of the musical "Annie" for Overbrook Entertainment, Marcy Media, director Will Gluck and Sony Pictures Entertainment. 'Identity Thief' Snatches Box Office From 'Snitch,' Returns to No. 1

ABC Planning 'Once Upon a Time' Spin-Off Featuring Mad Hatter

Microsoft Says It Suffered Same Hack Attack as Apple, Facebook

Add Microsoft to the list of companies experiencing hacker attacks. The company said in a blog post on Friday afternoon that it suffered the same security breach that Facebook and Apple have recently been dealing with.  Malware-infected websites contaminated some of Microsoft's computers, it said, adding that no customer data was compromised. Microsoft did not say when they discovered the breach.
