Breaking Pointe Sneak Peeks: The Competition for Roles Heats Up

Breaking Pointe Sneak Peeks: The Competition for Roles Heats Up

Last week's Breaking Pointe spent a lot of time focusing on the relationship of Ronald and Katie, which was being threatened by the fact that Katie had to find another job.  In the end, Ronald decided to stay with Ballet West, while Katie accepted a position with the Idaho Ballet, although she will remain at Ballet West until the end of her contract.

But tonight's Breaking Pointe is all about competition: "After grueling rehearsals, Adam holds casting auditions to decide who will dance the lead roles on stage in just two weeks. The dancers go head-to-head and when casting is announced there is major emotional fall out. Top Russian choreographer Elena Kunikova arrives from New York City to train the dancers, and demi-soloist Allison struggles under the pressure. When Beckanne receives some surprising news, she has to deal with resentment »

NBC Announces 2012 Fall Premiere Dates

14 June 2012 12:07 PM, PDT

NBC Announces 2012 Fall Premiere Dates

NBC has become the first broadcast network to confirm the premiere dates for each of its fall 2012 shows, both old and new. Due to the net having Olympic coverage this year, Go On and Animal Practice will be the recipients of airing behind the highly rated coverage and getting exposure before their time period premiere the following month. Interestingly, both look to be one-off sneak peeks vs. early starts, with the latter airing outside of its Wednesday timeslot. Additionally, NBC has scheduled Guys with Kids for a post-America's Got Talent premiere, similar to the strategy used for Up All Night and Free Agents last year. There's no word yet on what will be airing after it premieres, however.

Elsewhere, Grimm will make an early appearance, but like Animal Practice, it won't be at its normal day and time. The supernatural procedural will be airing after Stars Earns Stripes, »

House's Hugh Laurie To Square off With The Killing's RoboCop

14 June 2012 10:57 AM, PDT

House's Hugh Laurie To Square off With The Killing's RoboCop

The RoboCop remake is mining TV's best for its leading roles.  Joel Kinnaman of The Killing has already signed on to play Alex Murphy, the Detroit cop whose body is illegally harvested to complete the cyborg crime-stopper known as RoboCop.  In the original film,  the creation of RoboCop is a sort of PR effort by mega-corp Ocp (Omni Consumer Products), who are making a bid to buy the city of Detroit.  RoboCop is part of their efforts to prove they can quell the emergence of high tech criminals that control much of the dystopia of Detroit.

Variety announced today that House's Hugh Laurie will be stepping into the role of Ocp CEO "The Old Man", played by Irish actor Dan O'Herily in the original film.  Much of the buzz reports Laurie taking on the role of the film's 'Villain', »

Suits Season Two Premiere: What Will Be Mike's Fate?

We were left with a gigantic cliffhanger last season when Mike's friend Trevor stopped by to talk with Jessica. Did he drop the bombshell that would ruin his friend's life? If you haven't been watching, and for shame on you, Mike is the best damn attorney without a law degree you'll ever find. But law firms really do like those pesky degrees, and that's why he made such a nice living out of taking the LSATs for others who didn't have the guts to take it themselves.

Through a series of miscommunication and good timing that only a screenwriter could dream up, Mike Ross and Harvey Specter found each other and a unique and wonderful partnership was born. Their alliance brings with it incredible risk for both parties by keeping the secret that Mike isn't a lawyer. During season one, there »

Bones: How Much Longer Do You Want the Show to Last?

Bones: How Much Longer Do You Want the Show to Last?

Last night, star David Boreanaz tweeted a few interesting statements: "Sdcc 2012 shld be a blast and quite possibly the last for #Bones ? Farewell tour? Look forward to seeing everyone there" and "Let's put this in sports terms. I'm a free agent after this season. So the Bones fair [sic] well tour is in full-swing."

Showrunner Hart Hanson has often discussed the popularity of Bones for Fox and has mentioned the possibility of doing a ninth season.  Could David simply be talking about the expiry of contracts and his desire to move on to a new opportunity?  The truth is, we have no official clarification, so we can't comment on the validity of the statements.  In fact, I'm not even going to comment on his tweets, except to say that they did make me consider whether I would want the »

Criminal Minds Season 8 Casting News

Criminal Minds Season 8 Casting News

Criminal Minds saw a fan favorite off in the season 7 finale and it has just been announced who the actress is that will be replacing Paget Brewster's Emily Prentiss. Big Love's Jeanne Tripplehorn has been named as the new series regular on the hit CBS show and Tripplehorn will make her debut in the season 8 premiere when the show returns in the fall.

Tripplehorn is set to play an FBI profiler and she will have some big shoes to fill with Brewster's departure. Tripplehorn's no stranger to the television process as she was on HBO's Big Love for five seasons and just completed a two-episode guest spot on New Girl. Additions to the cast of Criminal Minds have not always gone well, particularly Rachel Nichols who was in the unfortunate position of replacing Aj Cook back in season 6. This misstep has since been »

Falling Skies - Six Reasons Season Two Will Rock

Falling Skies - Six Reasons Season Two Will Rock

For SciFi fans, the real summer season starts this Sunday with the two hour premiere of Falling Skies kicking off on TNT at 9Pm Est. But this is no 'normal' Season Two, not by a long shot. While Falling Skies successfully made it through its freshman season, found its fans, and ended with a cliff-hanger ending that ranks with the all time best, the Steven Spielberg shepherded production also gathered its share of criticisms along the way. Each season is written and filmed before a single episode airs, so there isn't an opportunity for the Falling Skies crew to course correct based on viewer feedback. Keeping that in mind, it seems like the powers that be decided to address the criticisms with a house cleaning, bringing in Remi Aubuchon as the new show-runner. So without that 2-3 episode buffer that network »

Pretty Little Liars Photos: Jenna Throws a Party...Chances Are Terrible Things Happen

Sometimes, when terrible things happen on Pretty Little Liars, it's centered around a party.  You would think that Rosewood would realize the trend and ban parties throughout the town, but apparently they haven't caught on yet.

In fact, Jenna will be hosting a spectacular birthday party for herself in the upcoming July 10 episode.  Here is what's in store: "Jenna's extravagant birthday party seems to be too good to be true and Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer think something else might be up - especially when it turns out that Garrett is getting a pass out of jail to visit his ailing mother on the same night. The timing can't just be a coincidence; the Liars are convinced it all has to do something with "A." With Emily getting an insiders' view working the party, Aria working the »

Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp Photo Preview

Okay first up, Tripp is adorable, right?  Now on to serious matters:  remember when the name 'Palin' would bring thoughts of November and Fox news to mind?  Over the years that name has shifted rapidly, and perhaps more appropriately, to the beginning of TV Season's and TMZ.  Yes, Bristol Palin will complete her transition from privileged unwed teenage mother to full blown celebutante with the premiere of her very own reality series Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp.  A heartwarming look into the life of a girl who got rich off being someone's daughter, getting richer exploiting her lifestyle as an ... what does she do again?

Well one thing that will no doubt play into her favor is all the media attention being lavished on the cry baby heckler who swore at Bristol while she was at a bar filming a scene for Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp. »

Rizzoli & Isles 3.02 Recap: Smart Women, Smart Mouths, Smart Phones

Rizzoli & Isles 3.02 Recap: Smart Women, Smart Mouths, Smart Phones

Rizzoli & Isles suffered a huge rift in their friendship in the season premiere, "Burning Down The House".  In that episode, Jane (Angie Harmon) shoots Maura's biological father, crime lord Paddy Doyle in the line of duty.

In the follow-up episode "Dirty Little Secret", the women are still on a "curt courtesy with sniping" status.  Local headlines exploit their rift with the headline, "Professional Frenemies?  Cop Shoots Medical Examiner's Mob Father".   Fate intervenes and sets the two on a course to solve the murder of a strangled yoga student and a body that has a skull fracture and a rash contracted from one of seven possible contaminated lakes in western Massachusetts.

Jane's tension at work is compounded by the tension in her home life.  Her dad, Frank Sr., (Chazz Palmenteri) is divorcing Jane's mom, Angela, and wants Angela (Lorraine Bracco) to sign annulment papers. »

The Walking Dead Season 3 Bombshell! Guess Who's Coming Back?!

Ever since he was left on that rooftop in season 1 of The Walking Dead, fans have wondered what has become of Merle Dixon.  Would he return?  Would be become the Governor?  Is he now herding zombies in New Zealand with one hand?  The answer is here folks.  Merle Is returning, and AMC has the photos to prove it.   Here's a quick look for you:

Looks like Merle has obtained some Army of Darkness Ash-style add-ons!  Wonder who he is shooshing?  Maybe I'm mistaken, but the background looks similar to that of the first picture of The Governor that was released from The Walking Dead's third season.  Could it be Merle has joined up with The Governor?

Be sure to check out AMC's Walking Dead blog for even more details!

The Real Housewives of New York City Are Back! (Thank God!)

The Real Housewives of New York City Are Back! (Thank God!)

After a highly controversial season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, a sub par The Real Housewives of Atlanta season, and a completely sufferable new season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, my taste for all things Real Housewives related has taken a turn for the "who cares?!" variety. Heck, I've even let my nightly guilty pleasure Watch What Happens Live! slip to the wayside with 22+ episodes building up on my DVR, along with other Bravo favorites. Then a breath of fresh air came in the form of the newly (much-needed) revamped Real Housewives of New York City, which so far has undoubtedly trumped anything the Real Housewives franchise has thrown my way recently.

After Rhonyc's disastrous last season which ended with the women fractured and four cast members fired, the show has bounced back with a »

The CBS's Big Brother vs. ABC's The Glass House Debate: Similar or Not?

The CBS's Big Brother vs. ABC's The Glass House Debate: Similar or Not?

Over the past couple of weeks, ABC has been in a legal showdown with CBS over their new reality show titled The Glass House, which CBS is declaring is a direct rip-off of their annual summer hit Big Brother. From one standing point, the premises are the same: an "x" amount of strangers from different backgrounds and personalities are thrown in a house to compete for a cash prize all while being taped 24/7. However, both shows do have various differences when you look at the grand scheme of things, namely how each show executes that basic premise I just laid out above. Here's some notable contrasts between both shows.

1) Audience Interaction is Encouraged More on The Glass House than Big Brother, It Seems

The Glass House will use social networking and other avenues to have their contestants »

Weeds to End After Season 8

13 June 2012 10:08 AM, PDT

Weeds to End After Season 8

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the upcoming eighth season of Weeds will be the show's last. The groundbreaking dark comedy had been rumored to be signing off after this season since the finale of last season, but there hadn't been confirmation until now.

It's no real surprise that the show is ending, particularly when you consider the last two finales could have easily been series finales and Justin Kirk signed onto star in NBC's Animal Practice. However, it's still the end of a long, strange trip for Weeds, which has went from the 'burbs to Mexico to the lam to Denmark and even a little prison. The eighth season is said to quickly resolve the prior finale's cliffhanger, time jump, and find the Botwin brood back in the suburbs once more, potentially signalling a return to its roots (ha) before signing off for the last time. »
