Oompa Loompa Attack Baffles UK Police

A man in Norfolk, England, was reportedly attacked last week by a pair of Oompa Loompas.

According to Wtvr.com, the 28-year-old man was assaulted in a city center by four individuals -- two of whom had been dressed up as the orange-skinned characters made famous in Roald Dahl's children's book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

The man reportedly "suffered cuts to his face, nose and lip, as well as two black eyes" after being confronted by the group last Thursday.

The Guardian reports that the two Oompa Loompas, believed to be men, were accompanied by a woman and a man "not wearing fancy dress."

Police say that the costumed men had "painted orange faces and dyed green hair." They were said to have also been wearing "hooped tops."

"One of the males in the group…pushed the victim to the floor before he got up," a spokesman for Norfolk police said, »

Photos: This Year's Rose Parade

Pasadena, Calif. -- A couple who became husband and wife on the "Love Float," a surprise reunion between a returning soldier and his little boy, and a grand marshal famed globally for her chimpanzee research were among the highlights of the 124th Rose Parade on Tuesday.

The parade's spectacular 42 floral floats brightened an otherwise cloudy New Year's morning and boosted the spirits of a chilled crowd estimated at some 700,000 spectators lining the 5-mile route.

"The only way that you're going to experience the Rose Parade is to be here in person," said Los Angeles resident Gineen Alcantara-Nakama, who camped out Monday night to save front row sidewalk spots.

"Growing up, I watched it on television, but it's not the same – the smell, the atmosphere, smelling the flowers as they come down the street. And the energy. It's like being with family all night long."

There are reports on both sides of the fence.

Kim Kardashian Isn't A Fan Of Pregnancy

She might be looking forward to becoming a mom, but Kim Kardashian isn't a fan of pregnancy. Actually, she admits it's way harder than she thought it would be.

The reality star, 32, stepped out on the red carpet for the first time since announcing she's expecting a baby with boyfriend Kanye West and said that although she has no morning sickness, she's definitely adjusting to "the growing pains."

"I wouldn't say that it's been easy," Kim told Et Online at the New Year’s Eve event at 1Oak Nightclub at The Mirage in Las Vegas last night. "When people say pregnancy is fun and they love it I would have to disagree. I think from this stage on it does become easier, but it's adjusting" she added.

"Even my sister has made it look easy, but it's not as easy as people think," Kim continued, referring to Kourtney Kardashian's amazing pregnancies. »

Bad News For The Oscars?

Los Angeles -- Growing concern that problems with the new electronic Oscar voting system could lead to record-low turnout has prompted the motion picture academy to extend the deadline for members to vote for Oscar nominations.

But next week's highly anticipated announcements looming, the extension is only for a day, until Friday. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Monday any votes received after the new deadline will not be counted.

"By extending the voting deadline we are providing every opportunity available to make the transition to online balloting as smooth as possible," said the academy's chief operating officer, Ric Robertson, in a statement. "We're grateful to our global membership for joining us in this process."

Reports of difficulty accessing the Oscars' first-ever online voting system and fears that it could be hacked have raised questions about balloting for the 85th annual contest. Earlier this year, the academy and its longtime accountants, »

The Gay Rights Issue Miley Cyrus Is Hesitant To Discuss In America

Like Barbra Streisand, Cher, Madonna and Lady Gaga before her, Miley Cyrus has always courted a sizable gay fanbase. In a new interview, the superstar even gives special props to London specifically because of the freedom it affords for her many Lgbt fans.

"My favorite place to perform is London, because I have never seen more gay people in my whole life," she is quoted as telling Bang Showbiz.

She then went on to imply that she found America's checkered stance on same-sex marriage and other Lgbt rights to be a bit stifling, saying she felt "very free" with her European audience in comparison.

"When I go to London that's what it is," she said. "I feel like they are so much more open, much more than here in the U.S. when they're feeling trapped, where it's like, 'Can I even say I believe in gay marriage? Can I »

When "Parenthood" returns (January 1 at 10 p.m. Est on NBC), Kristina's battle with cancer is far from over.

The first of the NBC drama's final four episodes of Season 4, titled "Keep On Rowing," sees Kristina make the bold choice to shave her head before chemotherapy causes her to lose her hair. Monica Potter, who plays Kristina, told HuffPost TV that the New Year's Day episode is her favorite, partly because Dax Sherpard, who plays Crosby on the series, directed it. "You see her going out with the girls, getting out of the house and trying to have fun with Julia [Erika Christensen] and Jasmine [Joy Bryant] and Sarah [Lauren Graham] and wanting to feel like she's normal again," Potter said. "It's sort of heartbreaking to see what happens when she does try to act normal and go out ... There's not one flat line of emotion; it's everywhere."

What's The Word On 'Promised Land'?

-- "Promised Land" offers an experience that's alternately amusing and frustrating, full of impassioned earnestness as well as saggy sections.

Director Gus Van Sant has the challenging task of taking the divisive, high-tech practice of fracking and trying to make it not just human but cinematic. Working from a script by co-stars Matt Damon and John Krasinski, based on a story by Dave Eggers, he succeeds in fits and starts.

The impoverished small town that's the tale's setting, a place in need of the kind of economic rejuvenation that extracting natural gas could provide, is full of folksy folks whose interactions with the main characters don't always ring true. "Promised Land" has its heart on its sleeve and its pro-environment message is quite clear, but it's in the looser and more ambiguous places that the film actually works.

Watch: Taylor Swift Rocks New Year's Eve

Taylor Swift's New Year's Eve included a kiss from reported beau Harry Styles of One Direction, but also two performances. Swift ended 2012 by playing two of the biggest hits off her newest album "Red": "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

Surrounding by an army of backup dancers, Swift performed the tracks with typical high energy, and even got support from "New Year's Rockin' Eve" host Ryan Seacrest and co-host Jenny McCarthy, at least from the crowd. As Zap2it notes, Swift also appeared to have help from a vocal track, but not that much: The singer's voice cracked a couple of times on high notes, lending the performance an air of live-on-stage credibility.

Watch Swift's performance above.

13 Things To Look Forward To In 2013

It's a happy new year, especially for those fans of Nordic Noir, Tom Daley, travelling Time Lords and a particularly expressive 'Entourage' alumnus.

Here are my top 13 TV and Film Choices coming up in the next few weeks to ease you back into the second half of winter...

1. It's on already, and not to be missed. Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut 'Quartet' has already earned well-deserved plaudits for its veteran stars. Dame Maggie Smith, as usual, steals the show as a retired diva who comes across her former love in a retirement home for musical folk, but she's not the only star turn. Billy Connolly does his best to cause mischief and Sheridan Smith proves a worthy addition to this revered roll call.

2. Four more sleeps until... Borgen. Arguably the most satisfying Nordic drama is back, with the Pm's marriage in tatters, the Coalition at each »

Big Change For The Oscars

Los Angeles — Oscar voters will have an extra day to cast their ballots.

The motion picture academy says it's extending the deadline for members to vote for the Academy Awards to Jan. 4, following criticism of its new electronic voting system.

The nominations are set to be announced Jan. 10.

Ric Roberton, chief operating officer of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said the extension will make the transition to online balloting as smooth as possible.

The academy partnered with electronic voting firm Everyone Counts Inc. earlier this year to develop the first Oscars online voting system.

Voting in the past has been compiled strictly through paper ballots. The new system allowed members to vote either online or through the mail.

The 85th annual Academy Awards are scheduled for Feb. 24. »

From innovative fishmonger to international YouTube sensation, Muhammad Shahid Nazir has turned one pound worth of fish into a viral pop hook that's got people everywhere tapping their feet to the beat.

Nazir, a 31-year-old Pakistani fish seller, rose to fame after a video of him hawking fish at Queens Market in London made its rounds on the Internet earlier this year. In the catchy clip, Nazir -- also known as the "One Pound Fish guy" -- sings a simple ditty about his fishy wares.

"Have a, have a look, one pound fish. Very, very good, one pound fish," he croons, welcoming customers to shop for the frozen fish he has on sale for one British pound (about $1.60).

As popularity of the YouTube clip grew, the fish hawker was approached by Warner Music to record a "techno-infused version" of his now-famous song. He also made a music video to accompany »
