7 Terrible Ideas For Robots From Heavy Metal Album Covers
22 minutes ago
Heavy metal music has done much good for the world, introducing us to the talents of Bruce Dickinson on vocals, Jeff Hanneman on guitar, and the sartorial delights of a really close-cut stonewash jean.
Unfortunately, for fans of the genre it has also been responsible for much ill in the world too.
No, we don't mean the music (though much of the output between 1998 and 2004 is fairly questionable).
We're talking about the genre's ideas for robots.
While browsing our favourite music streaming service this week, we noticed an album which reminded us just how many terrible ideas for androids, cyborgs and mechanical humans metal bands have come up with over the years.
We've pulled some of our favourite examples below. Let us know if we've missed any. And in future if you see a long-haired Viking wandering around Maplin with a Flying V in one hand and a Raspberry Pi in the other, »

Jon Has Had Enough

At this point, there are so many scandals in DC there's no reason to differentiate, we might as well call them all collectively ScandalGate™.
But even as the overall picture suggests that the Obama administration may have been asleep at the wheel, their accusers – and the media covering the whole mess – aren't coming out smelling so great either. As Jon Stewart asked on Monday, "Can anybody do their jobs in that town?"

Singer Blasts America, Says She's Leaving Country
32 minutes ago
Cat Power is fighting the power.
The 41-year-old singer took to Instagram on Monday night to post a photo of the Statue of Liberty with an accompanying rant against America.
Born Charlyn Marie Marshall, Cat Power wrote that she will be leaving America, only to come back "when those powers that be, take responsibility in hearing the majority voice of the peoples of the United American States and for all whom call it home."
She goes on to target the "false currency" which the country has used "to rape this earth with its lies," before outlining her list of demands, including "a tripartisan" and "a Native American vote." Cat Power ends the rant by tagging a myriad of people and organizations, including Oprah, Vice, Diplo, Beyonce, Rolling Stone, and James Franco.
Take a look at Cat Power's full Instagram post below.

Kanye Wants Will Smith To Rap
It looks like Kanye West wants to ball with the kid. In a new interview with HipHollywood.com, Will Smith said that West has been "pushing" him to record music once again.
"I've been messing around with Kanye. We were in the studio a couple of times," Smith revealed. "I might get the bug. I'm not going to do it unless I get truly inspired, but 'Ye's been pushing me a little bit."
Connecting Smith and West at this particular time feels like a publicist's dream, as both stars have projects coming out in the next few weeks (Smith's "After Earth" arrives on May 31; West's "Yeezus" is out June 18). That said, Smith has flirted with reigniting his music career within the last year: He frequently found time to rap on the press tour for last year's "Men In Black 3," this despite not performing the film's theme song. Watch: They Made Music Videos?
A major perk of attaining one's 15 minutes of fame is evidently the opportunity to record a single.
Patricia Krentcil (aka Tan Mom), the New Jersey mother who brought attention to the condition known as "tanorexia," did just that earlier this month. In the lyrics to "It's Tan Mom," she brags, "I'm sexier than the Teen Mom / I am cool, I'm the cool one / I'm hotter than the Octomom," thus reminding us of some of her fellow tabloid fixtures who've also expressed interest in launching music careers.
And of course, plenty of reality stars -- Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and various "Real Housewives" among them -- have done the same. Here are some of their, uh, more memorable attempts at music.

Kimmel's Commencement Speech Wasn't As Inspiring As Obama's
1 hour ago
When you give a commencement speech, the basic rule is to be inspiring; tell those kids they have a bright future and if they're willing to work hard the world is waiting for them. However, after receiving an honorary doctorate from Unlv, Jimmy Kimmel took a different approach.
On Monday night, Kimmel compared his commencement address with Obama's to the students of Morehouse College, and it pretty much explains why the "Live" host will never be president. But he Is a doctor, so »

Justin Bieber's Pet Monkey Now Belongs To Germany
1 hour ago
Berlin -- Justin Bieber's pet monkey is set to become the property of Germany.
Mally the Monkey was seized by German customs March 28 when Bieber failed to produce required vaccination and import papers for the animal after landing in Munich. He had until midnight Friday to produce those documents.
Customs spokesman Thomas Meister said after offices opened following a holiday weekend that officials received no documents. He said the customs authority will formally transfer ownership of the animal to the German state on Tuesday.
Bieber will then have six weeks to contest the decision. It wasn't immediately clear when authorities will make a decision on the monkey's permanent home.
Mally, a capuchin monkey, has been cared for at Munich's animal shelter since being taken into quarantine. »

Heidi Klum Says It's Hard Judging 'America's Got Talent'
New "America's Got Talent" judge Heidi Klum\ chatted with Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" about her new gig. She said that while it was a lot of fun, it also proved to be much harder than she anticipated. According to Klum, it's a lot easier to judge the contestants from the comfort of her couch at home than it is to do it live and in front of those acts.
“They’re just super nervous and took everything to go on the stage and do what they wanna do, and you have to tell them they’re not good," she said. "It’s hard.
She even went so far as to say that judging on "Agt" is even more difficult than judging on her own show, "Project Runway." "It’s more about them being talented designers," she said of "Runway." "When there’s a little kid singing and you have to tell them, »

Will Smith On How Son, Jaden, Could Get Emancipated
1 hour ago
Will Smith dropped by "Late Show," and dropped some rhymes as well. On his way to the desk, he grabbed the microphone from Paul Schaffer and broke into a few verses from his hit, "Summertime."
He explained that he sometimes just feels the need to rap. He stayed in a jovial mood, even when Letterman brought up those rumors about Will's son, Jaden. The rumors are that Jaden wants to be legally emancipated from his parents, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.
“I was in Tokyo or something where I made a joke about him being emancipated and that kind of took off," Smith said. He went on to lay out a scenario by which Jaden could leave, joking that "if he had a movie that’s bigger than my movies, then he can go ahead.”
The father-and-son duo, who appear together in the upcoming film "After Earth," talked about the rumors on "Ellen" recently, »

Watch: Jodi Arias Movie Actress Talks Crazy Sex Scenes
1 hour ago
Despite HuffPost Weird News' best efforts to cast the role of Jodi Arias, Lifetime went with a different leading lady.
Tania Raymonde, best known for her role on the series "Lost," will play the convicted murderer in the movie, "Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret," set to premiere June 22.
Raymonde sat down with CNN last week to talk about her role in the film and how she prepared for the sexual madhouse that is Jodi Arias.
"I always tried to rationalize that [Arias] loved [Travis Alexander] so passionately and so deeply that she did these things to him to please him because it pleased herself," Raymonde said.
She's referring, of course, to Arias' now notoriously explicit testimony, where she went into great detail about the couple's sexual relationship. Anal sex, oral sex, and candy in the bedroom were just some of the subjects covered when Arias was questioned in March and April.

So Eva Does Own Pants, Then
After being (very) exposed as a non-knicker wearer at Cannes yesterday, Eva Longoria finally managed to find some pants to wear for a posh gala dinner the following evening.
The 'Desperate Housewives' star flashed a little too much flesh after she 'forgot' to wear underwear underneath her red carpet frock at the film festival.

But it looks like she learnt her lesson fast and decided against going commando underneath a stunning sheer black dress for the Global Gift Gala Dinner after party.
Eva Longoria has a wardrobe malfunction in Cannes
But, ever the exhibitionist, the actress still made a big impression in the revealing frock, complete with plunging neckline and sheer paneling.
But at least Eva has a sense of humour, laughing off the previous day's wardrobe malfunction on Twitter.
“Here’s my dress for tonight! No wardrobe malfunctions tonight! »

'Motive' Premiere: Killer Revealed From The Start
3 hours ago
ABC's latest co-production with Canada premiered with a sneak preview on Monday night. "Motive" takes the procedural format and turns it on its head by revealing the killer at the very beginning of the hour. The episode then followed two narratives: the detectives trying to track the killer, and the killer trying to keep from getting caught.
Former "The Killing" star Kristin Lehman takes the lead on this one as Detective Angela Flynn. She proved the most adept at putting the clues together that caught this week's killer, a wallflower high school student who killed his teacher because he wanted to stay invisible.
“In most detective shows, the fun is trying to uncover and analyze the clues in order to identify the perpetrator, but not here," wrote Buddy TV. "I was pleasantly surprised by how suspenseful the premiere episode ... was to watch ... There is a cat-and-mouse chase feel to the way it plays out. »

'Hawaii Five-0' Finale: Someone Leaves The Team
4 hours ago
For its big season finale, "Hawaii Five-0" offered a potentially game-changing moment. Kono ran off with Adam to China. It certainly seemed to be set up as a temporary thing, until Steve could clean up things back home, but the question is how long is temporary? And, of course, they could always pull the rug out from under the fans and make it a permanent departure, though "Five-0" without Grace Park just feels incomplete.
Her unexpected goodbye made E! Online's lost of "Omg TV Moments" for Monday, but TV Fanatic doesn't think this is so much a goodbye as it is a see you later.
“I don't imagine that we've seen Grace Park wearing body armor over a tank top for the last time (I mean, I hope not! For all of our sakes!)," they wrote. "But I can imagine a Hawaii Five-0 Season 4 where the show's shape has mutated »

'Bates Motel' Finale: Norman's Vision Urges Him To Kill
5 hours ago
Norman had a tough time on the season finale of "Bates Motel" leading to one of those blackout spells that never ends well for those around him. In this case, it was his kind teacher, Miss Watson. After Norman was rejected and then punched at the school dance, he was walking home in the rain.
Miss Watson offered him a ride, but took him to her house first to clean up his blood. She then went to change before taking him home. But the combination of her bedroom door and a mirror meant that Norman could see her changing. This was enough to trigger one of those visions of his mother chiding him into action.
“What kind of grown woman invites a teenage boy into her house and changes her clothes where he can see her?” Norman's vision of Norma said. He argued back and forth with his mother, before she finally said, »

Mary Lynn Rajskub On If Chloe Will Return To '24'
Besides Kiefer Sutherland, one other presence is most thought of when people consider "24." With the news that Fox was reviving the hit series as a 12-episode max-series for next year, the questions started to fly. Jack Bauer would rise again, but what about Chloe? Mary Lynn Rajskub, who breathed life into the character for so many years, dropped by "Conan" to talk about the relaunch.
Rajskub admitted that even she doesn't know yet if Chloe will be back. "I have high hopes," she said. "I’m hoping to hear soon. People have been over the moon about this.” She went on to say that the online community has been very vocal and supportive of her returning to the series.
“People are like, I’m not gonna watch if you’re not on! And no Chloe no watchy!” she said.
So far, only Kiefer Sutherland is tied to the new series, »

'Rules Of Engagement' 100th Episode Series Finale
5 hours ago
After seven quiet seasons, "Rules of Engagement" finally reached its series finale on CBS. In doing so, it also achieved a rather impressive feat. The series finale was also the long-running pinch-hitter's 100th episode. In the end, as expected, things wrapped up neatly for the principal characters.
Jeff and Audrey got their daughter, thanks to their surrogate. And finally, Adam and Jennifer got married. Even Russell and Timmy got a happy ending -- or was it? Thanks to Russell, Timmy was about to be deported, so Russell proposed to him and the two got married.
But "Rules" wasn't done yet. As Jeff and Audrey were bonding over the new addition to their family, Audrey had one more piece of news. "You know I’ve been feeling kinda sick lately, so I decided to get checked up," she said. "Jeff, I’m pregnant.”

'The Goodwin Games': Competing For Inheritance
5 hours ago
"The Goodwin Games" features Beau Bridges as a father who wasn't much of a father to his kids. When he knew he was dying, he devised a complex game that would hopefully bring them together. More specifically, perhaps, it would award one of them his $23 million fortune.
The new Fox comedy premiere introduced the three siblings who would be reluctantly playing the game. First up was a customized version of Trivial Pursuit. All the questions were about the siblings. They revealed that they'd never been able to finish a game, and that proved the case again. As always, it ended in a huge fight.
After thinking they'd lost everything, the brothers were ready to go home. But daughter Chloe picked up on the morse code their father used in his final video to continue the game. And they agreed to play, and finish, the game. Doing so triggered the next step in the titular "Games. »

'The Voice': Singing Michael Jackson Emotional For Judith Hill
5 hours ago
Judith Hill had to tap into emotions that were still raw with her performance on "The Voice." Her coach, Adam Levine selected Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel," which hit close to home. Hill was a back-up singer, and featured performer, with the King of Pop.
Hill told Levine that she worried that people might think she was taking advantage of her connection to her former mentor, but Levine told her that this was her paying tribute to a man who meant so much to her personally.
While it was still an emotional moment, Hill was able to channel those feelings into her performance, gaining rave reviews from the judges. Even Carson Daly had words of encouragement for her after she sang.
"It almost conjured the same emotions you’re feeling right now, just hearing the song," Usher said. "I miss him. I miss him so much. »

Two Canceled Series Are Back From The Dead
7 hours ago
ABC's "666 Park Avenue" and "Zero Hour" were some of the first shows to be canceled this season, but for fans who want to know how the stories end, ABC has scheduled both series to be burned off on Saturday evenings this summer.
As previously announced, "Zero Hour" will return at 8 p.m. Et on June 15 with a double-bill, before "666 Park Avenue" returns in the 9 p.m. slot on June 22, according to Deadline.
The Anthony Edwards drama was canceled after only three episodes back in March, after earning the dubious distinction of being the least-watched premiere for a scripted series on ABC ever -- debuting with 6.3 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.
"666 Park Avenue" was canceled after seven episodes, falling from 7 million viewers to under 4 million during its two months on air. Another of ABC's high-concept freshman dramas, "Last Resort," was allowed to air all 13 of its ordered episodes despite being axed. »
