Jon Watts On Landing Spider-man As Director, "Perfect" Tom Holland And His Civil War Debut

In the same announcement that had named Tom Holland as the new Peter Parker/ Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jon Watts was also revealed as the director of the Web-Slinger's next standalone movie. And while promoting his new film Cop Car which debuted at Sundance, Watts explained to Entertainment Weekly how he landed the project with Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures and why Holland is perfect for the role. The filmmaker also vaguely weighed in on (and further confirmed) the rebooted Spider-Man making his debut in Captain America: Civil War.  "I’m not really sure what happened," said Jon Watts when asked how he went from directing his Sundance hit Cop Car to Spider-Man. "I had never been to Sundance before. I was nervous because that was the first time we were showing the movie to an actual crowd. So I was dealing with that. I mean, Sundance is like a genre. »

Netflix Boss Talks Iron Fist Casting And Possibility Of A Spinoff Starring The Punisher

Talking at the Television Critics Association press tour earlier today (via IGN), Netflix COO Ted Sarandos revealed more details about what the popular online streaming service has in store for their Marvel properties after the success of Daredevil. Asked about the fact that the Man Without Fear is getting a second season before The Defenders launches (you may remember that the original plan was for each character to have a single season before the heroes all met and teamed up), he said: "I think ideally there will be a rhythm of about every six months you’ll get a new season or a new series from the Defenders group. And then they’ll crossover into a combined [Defenders] season once we’ve launched the first season of each of the four characters." In other words, it all really depends on how well-received they all are. After all, based on the reviews »

Netflix Narrows Down Jessica Jones Release Window

In addition to the Jessica Jones release date info, Netflix also stated that fans should expect a new Marvel series to stream every six months. With Daredevil premiering earlier this year in April, a six-month gap would have Jessica Jones launching in October, which supports Netflix's comment that Jessica Jones would stream in 4Q 2015. Continuing along that same six-month  release window, Daredevil season 2 (which is filming in NYC right now.  Jessica Jones wrapped 3 days ago.) would premire in April 2016.  This statement from Netflix refutes previous remarks from the company that each Marvel series would steam a year apart.  While Netflix does not release ratings, perhaps the viewership for Daredeveil is prompting the streaming service to be more ambitious in it's collaboration with Marvel/Disney? Photo: Has Jeremy Renner Revealed 'Hawkeye's' Allegiance In Captain America: Civil War?

We've known ever since Robert Downey Jr. joined the cast of Captain America: Civil War that the 2016 flick will be a loose adaptation of the comic book storyline that saw many superheroes of the Marvel Universe become divided over the prospect of the Superhuman Registration Act. However, what we still don't know about the highly-anticipated movie is which Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes will be pro-registration with Downey's Iron Man or anti with Chris Evans' Captain America. Well, we might have just learned whose allegiance Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye will be a part of when all the calamity unfolds in Civil War. As pictured below, the Avengers: Age of Ultron star has been spotted out and about wearing a cap with "Team Captain America" embedded on the front. Which suggests the archer will be against the government having control over the superhero community, among other things. And in other words, »

Is Marvel Developing A Thunderbolts TV Series For Netflix?

Salt at the ready! The Hashtag Show (via McU Exchange) reckon Marvel is developing a TV show based on The Thunderbolts - a team made up mainly of villainous characters, similar to DC's Suicide Squad. It's just been announced that Marvel has ongoing plans for its Netflix output, and that we can expect a new show "every six months". Those initial plans obviously revolve around multiple seasons for the 5 shows we know about (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders), but surely they'll be throwing something new into the mix at some point? It's worth noting that there are many potential team members that have already been introduced in various movies and TV shows (such as Mr. Hyde, Crossbones, Absorbing Man, Grant Ward), and more we know are set to debut (like Baron Zemo, The Punisher, Elektra, members of The Inhumans). So yes, it's entirety plausible that Marvel »

Another recurring cast member has been promoted to series regular status ahead of Gotham's sophomore season. This time it's Drew Powell, who portays the lovable mobster, 'Butch Gilzean'. He'll continue to work for The Penguin for now, after he inherited Gotham's criminal empire at the end of last season. Powell is the fourth guest star to gain regular status, joining Morena Baccarin ('Lesley Thompkins'), Nicholas D'Agosto ('Harvey Dent') & Chris Chalk ('Lucius Fox'). Season 2 will also mark the arrival of Michael Chiklis as 'Gcpd Captain Barnes', Jessica Lucas as 'Tabitha Galavan' (a.k.a. 'Tigress') and James Frain as her brother, 'Theo Galavan'. Ant-man: Michael Douglas Has Not Signed On To Star In Any More Marvel Movies

Is there a chance we won't see Hank Pym again in the McU? It would seem highly unlikely given the major role the character played in Ant-Man, but even though Michael Douglas sounds like he'd be more than happy to return, he has revealed to Yahoo! that he hasn't signed on for any more movies... not yet, anyway. “I’m not signed up to anything more,” he told the site. “I’ve learned a whole lot and would look forward to more if it comes my way but if not I’ve enjoyed the experience." It's probably only a formality of course, but if and when Pym does return, it seems Douglas would like to get in on the humor a bit more next time around. “Paul and Adam (McKay’s) re-write bought a lot more humour. I accused Paul of bringing a lot more humour to his character! Michael Pena »

Arrow Showrunner Claims 'Damien Darhk' Is "Pure Evil"; Is This Our First Look At The Villain?

Arrow has had its fair share of impressive 'big bads' over the course of it first three seasons, and many fans believe the villains are the show's strongest element. However, according to executive producer and showrunner Marc Guggenheim, the likes of Deathstroke and Ra's Al Ghul pale in comparison to what's coming next season. Speaking to Access Hollywood, Guggenheim explained why Neal McDonough's 'Damien Darhk' could be Oliver Queen's most dangerous enemy yet. "Damien's a different kind of villain than we've had on the show before. He's not as centurion as Ra's, he's not as looney tune as Slade, he's not as -- and people will be surprised I use this word -- but he's not as noble as Malcolm Merlyn. He's pure evil. We wanted someone who was truly, truly malevolent. We've never done that on the show before. All of our big bads always thought they were doing… »

27 July 2015 6:40 PM, PDT

Hugh Jackman declared months ago that, after portraying the Wolverine in seven different movies over the course of 14 years, his very last time putting on the mutant's claws would be in his third standalone X-Men spinoff. And despite hinting at San Diego Comic-Con that the James Mangold-directed sequel would adapt the "Old Man Logan" storyline, Jackman has now taken to Twitter to ask his 5.68 million followers what they want to see happen on the big-screen come March 3, 2017. Furthermore, the actor also shared the same unofficial Wolverine 3 promo artwork that was shown at Comic-Con earlier this month featuring the hashtag #OneLastTime. Check out the tweet and photo below, as Jackman also promises to read as many responses as he can. What do you think? My last time putting on the claws. What do you want to see happen? 50 words or less. I'll read as many as I can. »

Get An Official Look At 'The Wasp' Prototype Suit From The Ant-man Mid-Credits Scene

27 July 2015 4:00 PM, PDT

Scott Lang's (Paul Rudd) superhero origin story might have been the focus of Marvel's Ant-Man, but the "Phase Two" movie certainly established another superhero, or rather a superheroine, in Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly). In a scene before the closing credits, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) shows Hope the prototype for a suit that allows her to follow in the footsteps of her late(?) mother Janet Van Dyne and take up the mantle of the Wasp. Though we probably won't see the winged hero in full glory until the Avengers: Infinity War movies in May of 2018 and 2019, Marvel has shared an official look at her prototype suit from the Ant-Man mid-credits tag.
