Comics: Revered Artist Steve Dillon Has Passed Away

Steve Dillon, best known for Preacher, Hellblazer, Doctor Who and Judge Dredd, has passed away at age 54.   Dillon got his start in the comic book industry at the incredibly young age of 16, drawing the Marvel UK Hulk anthology series.  In the '90s, Dillon would team with Garth Ennis to form one of the most dynamic and groundbreaking writer/artist teams in the history of comics.  There are currently no further details regarding the nature of his passing but we at Cbm would like to express our condolences to his friends and family.  If you have any fond memories of reading any of Dillon's numerous titles, we invite you to share them in the comment section below. Sad to confirm the death of Steve, my big brother and my hero. He passed away in the city he loved (NYC). He will be sorely missed. Cheers x — glyn dillon (@glyn_dillon »

Frank Castle Sports A Fresh, But Familiar Haircut In Latest Set Photos From The Punisher

The production team for Marvel's The Punisher has been hard at work over the past few weeks making Netflix's next great series, and last night a couple new photos from the secretive set surfaced online featuring Jon Bernthal (The Accountant) sporting a very fresh new buzzcut. The new cut should bring back fond memories of the look he sported in his first few appearances on the second season of Marvel's Daredevil, and may suggest a time lapse between these snaps and the previous batch of set photos. The series will see Bernthal reprise his role as Frank Castle from Daredevil and thrust him into a brand new adventure. He'll be joined by Ben Barnes (Westworld) as his former best friend Billy Russo, a.k.a. Jigsaw, who now runs a highly successful private military corporation called Anvil, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls) as Micro, a former Nsa analyst that holds some powerful secrets, »

Director Tim Miller Departs From Deadpool 2 Due To Creative Differences

It appears as though the director's chair for the highly anticipated Deadpool sequel is up for grabs. According to Deadline, director Tim Miller has exited Deadpool 2, which has already been slated for a January 2018 release. They've learned that Miller himself chose to leave the project due to "mutual creative differences" with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds. Also, while Miller was developing the script for the film, he never officially signed on to direct Deadpool 2, so while it was assumed he'd be back in the director's chair, there was never any guarantee. The trade goes on to add that Miller's departure was amicable, and that Fox still has their eyes set on Miller potentially directing a future project, namely an adaptation of the David Suarez novel Influx. Deadpool made quite the impression on fans worldwide and ultimately became a box office behemoth, breaking several records, something that not many expected due to its R-Rating, »

Miss Martian Arrives On Earth In New Supergirl Clip

Supergirl season 2, episode 3 - "Welcome to Earth" airs Monday, October 24 on The CW at 8/7c. As evidenced in the clip below, it appears J'onn doesn't recognize his niece in her human guise.  Or is it possible that they don't actually know one another at all, at least not formally?  It seems M'gann M'orzz definitely knows who J'onn is which should serve as a big clue to knowledgeable comic book readers who know Miss Martian's true origin and actual relationship to the Last son of Mars. In addition to Miss Martian's debut, Linda Carter also makes her first series appearance on Supergirl as President of the United States.  Check out an extended trailer for the forthcoming episode below. “Welcome to Earth”— (8:00-9:00 p.m. Et) (Content Rating Tbd) (HDTV) Lynda Carter (“Wonder Woman”) Lands In National City As President Olivia Marsdin — An attack is made on the President (guest star Lynda Carter) as hot-button, »

Another Doctor Strange Cast Member Has Joined Benedict Cumberbatch In Avengers: Infinity War

21 October 2016 5:46 PM, PDT

In the comic books, Doctor Strange often has Wong by his side, and the same looks set to be the case when the Sorcerer Supreme appears in Avengers: Infinity War a couple of years from now. Talking to ComicBook.com recently, Benedict Wong had this to say about reprising the role of Strange's mentor. "I'm thrilled I'm going to be in Infinity War. I'm looking forward to, I'll tell you that one first." So, this is yet another character we can now add to the ever growing list of heroes who will be joining the fight against Thanos. Wong helping Strange out makes a lot of sense, though how significant his role will end up being obviously remains to be seen. It's probably just a cameo, but you have to believe that there's a chance we'll also see The Ancient One and Mordo led a hand against the Mad Titan. »

Kevin Feige Explains Why He's Hesitant To Introduce Marvel's Netflix Characters To The Cinematic Universe

21 October 2016 10:09 AM, PDT

It won't happen in Infinity War, but will we eventually see Marvel's Netflix characters join The Avengers up on the big screen? Considering it's all supposed to be set in the same universe you would think it's a no-brainer, but Marvel Studios representatives have always seemed reluctant to offer anything in the way of confirmation that plans are in place. During a press junket for Doctor Strange, Collider asked Kevin Feige if he thought the likes of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones would ever make the transition to the McU, and Marvel's head honcho explained that it'll only happen when the time is right. "I think it’s extremely impressive what Netflix has done and it will be the same answer I always give, which is, “It all depends on timing.” It all depends on how to do it because I don’t think what anybody wants to do »

21 October 2016 6:37 AM, PDT

FX Network has released two darkly humorous promos for their upcoming X-Men spinoff, Legion, giving us a better look at the son of Charles Xavier, David Haller (Dan Stevens), his incredibly dangerous mutant abilities, and more of the show's supporting cast.  From everything we've seen so far, the show looks to be a very unique and stylized departure from the X-Men series, which isn't too suprising coming from executive producer Noah Hawley (Fargo). Let us know what you think of Legion in the comments! The show will debut on February 2017 on FX. Legion follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. Game Of Thrones: A Character Makes His Long-Awaited Return In This New Season 7 Set Video

21 October 2016 6:15 AM, PDT

Former blacksmith, bastard son of Robert Baratheon, and surely an Olympic-level rower at this stage - Gendry (Joe Dempsie) will make his triumphant return in season 7 of Game of Thrones. The video below captures a scene that was shot yesterday on Muriola Beach in Barrika, and features Tyrion, Davos (there's the Jon/Dany alliance seemingly confirmed anyway) and Gendry escaping from a pair of Goldcloaks. It's been quite a while since we've seen Arya's former best bud, and it looks like young Gendry has become as adept at swinging a warhammer as his late father was in his prime. Check out the vid and a breakdown of the scene courtesy of WatchersOnTheWall.com. Davos and Gendry are together preparing the boat to leave when two gold cloaks approach. Davos demonstrates that the boat is innocently empty by pulling back the tarp. He appears to then bribe the gold cloaks, who turn to leave, »

J.J. Abrams Reveals What Was Cut From Rey's "Forceback" In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

21 October 2016 6:07 AM, PDT

Despite having a fairly straightforward story, Star Wars: The Force Awakens still had its fair share of mysteries by the time the film ended; chief among them was the cryptic "force vision" experienced by Rey. In a new commentary excerpt from the upcoming Blu-ray Collector's Edition of the movie, director J.J. Abrams has provided some context on the scene, along with a pivotal moment that was cut. In the film's final sequence, Rey discovers Luke Skywalker's lightsaber in Maz Kanata's castle, and upon touching it, is beset by a vision that includes the hallways of Cloud City, the Knights of Ren, a hooded Luke Skywalker, and a flashback to being left on Jakku as a child. According to Abrams, the scene originally was supposed to feature Rey witnessing the epic battle between Luke and Darth Vader (from The Empire Strikes Back) in the deep passages of Cloud City. Godzilla Sequel Enlists Krampus Writers Michael Dougherty & Zach Shields

21 October 2016 6:00 AM, PDT

Variety is reporting that Legendary has enlisted Krampus scribes Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields to pen the script for their upcoming Godzilla sequel, which is due out in theaters early 2019. Additionally, while Kong: Skull Island is already complete, the report strongly suggests that the studio may be working on establishing a writers room to help further develop their impending Godzilla/King Kong cinematic universe. Dougherty & Shields are expected to just write the script for Godzilla 2, but there is a possibility their draft may turn out to be the jumping off point for a potential writers room. Kong: Skull Island, which was helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Jason Mitchell, & Toby Kebbell, hits theaters March 10, 2017. The next installment in the franchise will be Godzilla 2, which is expected in theaters on March 22, 2019 and will be followed by the monster movie »
