Check Out The First Trailer For Tarsem Singh's Selfless
2 hours ago
Tarsem Singh is known for his stunning creative/surreal visuals in the likes of Immortals and The Cell, so this one looks to be something of a departure in that regard. We're still firmly in sci-fi territory though, as Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3) strives for immortality by having his conciousness shifted to a "host" body that looks a lot like Green Lantern minus the crappy mask. He's happy to live the high life for a while, until... yeah you get the idea. Check out the trailer and poster below. In this provocative psychological science fiction thriller, an extremely wealthy man (Academy Award® Winner Ben Kingsley) dying from cancer undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man (Ryan Reynolds). But all is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body’s origin and the organization »

Diablo Cody Set To Rewrite Live-Action Barbie Movie
4 hours ago
According to Deadline, Juno writer Diablo Cody has been brought on to pen the script for Sony's live-action Barbie movie, which will be produced by Parkes+MacDonald/Image Nation. Apparently the plan is to craft a "fashion film franchise" based on the ever-popular doll. Barbie is seen (by some) as a symbol of female empowerment, so Cody (who's journey from stripper to Oscar-winning screenwriter is well documented) would seem like a good fit. “Diablo’s unconventionality is just what Barbie needs,” said Walter Parkes. “It signals we’re going for a legitimately contemporary tone. We’re bringing her on because she had great ideas, but even more importantly, she truly loves Barbie.” From what we can tell, the story will re-imagine Barbie as a "Mary Poppins" type figure, arriving into the mundane lives of another bunch of characters, and "using her personal and professional skills to improve them". »

WB CEO On Difference Between DC And Marvel Movies; "They’re Steeped In Realism...And Edgier"
Marvel are obviously dominating cinemas right now with the movies, and the next few years will see Fox get in on the action with X-Men: Apocalypse, another Wolverine movie, and spinoffs starring Deadpool and Gambit. Warner Bros. are also hoping to establish their own Cinematic Universe starting with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad in 2016. Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara isn't worried about moviegoers getting bored with superheroes though, and he had this to say at Wednesday's Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference. "The key thing is that the movies and the television shows and the games, everything looks very different …you have to be able to take advantage of the diversity of these characters." How will they differentiate themselves from Marvel then? "The worlds of DC are very different," he added. "They’re steeped in realism, and they’re a little bit edgier than Marvel’s movies. »

It seems ol' Scratch will have some company when he relocates to a slightly cooler climate. Deadline report that Cane actress Lina Esco has been cast alongside Tom Ellis in Fox's Lucifer, playing a character named Maze (almost certainly Mazikeen from the comics), who is described as "Lucifer’s best friend... a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman." Esco has appeared in CSI and the Heroes webseries Heroes: Destiny, as well as co-writing, directing and starring in the independent film, Free The Nipple. The pilot will be directed by Len Wiseman (the Total Recall remake, Underworld), who will also executive produce along with Tom Kapinos, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman. Joss Whedon Reveals Why Shooting Avengers: Age Of Ultron Was A "Nightmare"
Talking to SFX (via The Hollywod Reporter), Joss Whedon revealed that working on Avengers: Age of Ultron was quite a challenge, and it's no wonder he's not keen on returning for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War. "Shoot me in the face! It is a nightmare," he revealed. "I long for the simple movies like Serenity! This is the hardest juggling act I have ever, ever tried to pull off." That doesn't sound good, but the filmmaker made similar comments after the first movie, so there's every chance he could return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe somewhere down the line (Captain Marvel please, Joss?). As for where the sequel picks up with the team, Whedon added: "They’re very disparate characters. The joy of the Avengers is they really don’t belong in the same room. It’s not like the X-Men who are all tortured by the same thing and have similar costumes. »
