Joss Whedon Thought About Directing A Female Batman Movie Post-avengers

Before Joss Whedon agreed to helm Avengers: Age of Ultron, Whedon thought about trying to get a DC superhero film off the ground again with Warner Bros. (see Joss Whedon's failed Wonder Woman film).  Said Whedon, "I will say that when I was thinking about, Well, if I wasn't’t going to do Avengers 2, what would I want to do? — of course the first thing I thought of was ‘turn-of-the-century female Batman.’ Not Batman actually. But, you know, something cool. One person. Can’t stress that enough. Movie about one person — not a team, not 10, just one. But [I would] do a nice sort of hard action movie that combined all my favorite things.  Something that would be the love child of Sam Fuller and Edward Gorey. You know, I’ve had many thoughts since then. Oh, I could do this! Oh, I could do that! But it is my »

Brandon Routh's Superman: Flyby Screen Test

In December of 2013, the website thinkmcflythink.com posted an image of Henry Cavill ("Man Of Steel," "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice") wearing McG's Superman: Flyby costume for his screen test. You can view that by clicking here. Oddly enough, a week later thinkmcflythink.com posted an image of Brandon Routh dressed in the Superman: Flyby costume as well, but that image didn't get picked up on by as many sites as the Cavill image. I missed it, but here it is now. Enjoy! By the way, several months after Routh tested for Superman: Flyby he would test for Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, and of course get the part. Superman:flyby Plot  (written by J.J. Abrams) - Young Prince Kal-el is rocketed to Earth in an effort for Jor-El to allow Kal-El to fufill the prophecy of being the chosen Kryptonian to end a century old Civil War. On Earth »

The folks at Digital Spy have just published 25 new and intriguing Avengers: Age of Ultron details that they learned while visiting the set last year; from character motives, relationships and so much more. First up, Joss Whedon teases doing a lot more with Hawkeye this time around. "We got to do some interesting stuff with Hawkeye which is a different kind of dark," he said. "It's been fun for Jeremy because he was possessed for so long last time – it's interesting to not be a zombie!" Producer Jeremy Latcham then reassured that Earth's Mightiest Heroes will already be a team when the movie begins. "This movie starts off and the team is together, on a mission, they're working in tandem, and there are new relationships between them," said Latcham. "Time has passed, so you pick up right in the middle of an action sequence and start trying to catch »

Chris Hemsworth Talks Briefly About Thor: Ragnarok

It's been four months since Marvel Studios had announced Thor: Ragnarok, among "Phase Three" movies, at the special press event in L.A., but  Chris Hemsworth has finally discussed the 2017 threequel during a Blackhat interview. When Digital Spy asked if certain events in this summer's Avengers: Age of Ultron will have an impact on the God of Thunder's return in Ragnarok, the Aussie actor reassured... they will. "Yeah, definitely... they have to, don't they?" he asked, laughing. "No [I can't give away any hints], but I will say there is no script for the next Thor. So, I have no idea where we're going to end up, but it's pretty big... this one." Anyhow, when it was announced that Thor: Ragnarok will be released on July 28, 2017, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had teased that the threequel will not only be "very important" to the "Phase Three" as a whole, but it will also »

Will 'Dazzler' And Other '80s Characters Make An Appearance In X-men: Apocalypse?

Despite the fact Disco was pretty much dead when Dazzler made her debut in 1980, she's still a quintessentially '80s character, so it would make a lot of sense for her to make an appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse. Her inclusion would be very interesting to see play out on the big screen as there are a number of directions they could take with such a character, so what are the chances she does turn up? "Could happen," writer Simon Kinberg laughed when asked just that by EW. "We’re certainly looking at mutants that would fit into the period." Who fits that description? We'll have to wait and see. Regardless, Kinberg and director Bryan Singer have big plans for exploring that decade. "That’s the era that I grew up in. The music, the fashion, the videogames: We really want to integrate all of that in the movie, and have »

Simon Kinberg Talks X-men/Fantastic Four Crossover And Evolution Of 'Doctor Doom'

The first trailer for Josh Trank's Fantastic Four was released earlier this week, and it's fair to say that fans were shocked by just how good the movie looks! Tonally, it's more Interstellar than Avengers, and it's that sci-fi vibe which writer Simon Kinberg is really excited for fans to see. "Part of what’s cool about the Fantastic Four comics is that there’s an emphasis on the science of science fiction," Kinberg tells EW. "And we treat what would normally be considered a superpower as a trauma. They don’t just go up a roof, jump off, and start swinging through the city. It’s the opposite. What would happen if your body transformed, and you didn’t have control over it?" There's been a lot of talk in the past about a crossover between the X-Men franchise and this rebooted Fantastic Four movie, and while it »

Reprising her role from X-Men: First ClassRose Byrne (Bridesmaids) is set to return as Moira MacTaggert. When we last saw her, her memory had been wiped by Charles Xavier in order to protect his school. She was nowhere to be seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past as a result.  Writer Simon Kinberg confirmed the news while talking to EW, revealing: "She’s a significant character in the movie. We ended First Class with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them." How do you avoid spoilers for Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron? Jeremy Renner's solution is simple but not easy to accomplish. Even though Renner was on set, filming alongside Paul Bettany and his other fellow Avengers, Renner says he's doing his best to avoid spoilers so that he can enjoy a few surprises when he sees Age of Ultron for the first time.  Speaking to THR as executive producer of The Throwaways, Renner says he's trying to stay in the dark when it comes to learning any specifics about Paul Bettany's Vision in particular.  "I haven't seen [the Vision].  I kind of keep my head turned away from all of that so I can be surprised when I see the movie. Obviously I saw Paul Bettany in person as the character, but then they do the visual effects and all that sort of stuff. It will be a »

Apparently The 'Hutts' Will Appear In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

30 January 2015 12:59 PM, PST

We know Jabba the Hutt met his end at the hands (and chain) of "slave Leia" in Return of the Jedi, but he wasn't the only slimy piece of worm-ridden filth in the galaxy. Some of his fellow Hutts were glimpsed in The Phantom Menace, and have been a part of various Expanded Universe novels, animated series, comics etc over the years, and now it seems we'll be meeting them again in J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens. According to Dave Gonzalez of Latino Review, these Hutts are being practically built for the movie just like Jabba was for Rotj, and although he doesn't know how many will feature, it'll definitely be "more than one". As for how they'll factor into the story, all speculation is welcome -- though some very early concept art did depict Leia meeting with the Hutts, possibly to explain why she murdered one of 'em! »
