Teresa Palmer Wants To Play Talia Al Ghul In The Batman, But The Character Isn't On The Dceu's Radar
1 hour ago
Teresa Palmer (Wolf Creek, Triple 9, Hacksaw Ridge) was originally in line to play Batman villain Talia al Ghul in Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller's Justice League: Mortal before the project was scrapped, and it seems the Aussie actress still has designs on the role. During an interview with Screen Rant, Palmer informed the site that she's officially campaigning to play Talia in Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie, and asked them to get the word out. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but there might be a slight problem there. According to The Wrap, Warner Brothers has no plans to include the character - nor her father Ra's - in The Batman, or in any other Dceu movie for the foreseeable future. This could have something to do with how prominently they factored into the overarching plot of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, and »

Tim Miller Reportedly Wanted To Spend Upwards Of $150 Million On Deadpool Sequel
5 hours ago
The Wrap has a new piece up about the recent reveal that director Tim Miller won't return to direct Deadpool 2, and it's beginning to sound like the sequel may be better off with a new filmmaker at the helm. Apparently, Ryan Reynolds and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wanted to once again make a "scrappy, raunchy and inexpensive movie" similar to the first, but Miller was keen on a more stylish take which would have cost three times as much and been more like regular superhero movies. There's advantages to both approaches, but a $150 million Deadpool movie would definitely come out vastly different to what preceded it, and it's easy to imagine the charm being lost along the way. "There were two totally different movies on the table, and one of them just wasn’t Deadpool," an insider familiar with both versions of the sequel told the trade. »
Uncharted Movie On The Fast Track At Sony Pictures; Shawn Levy Set To Direct
5 hours ago
Fans of the superb Uncharted video game series will be happy to hear that Sony Pictures has finally taken some more steps toward bringing Nathan Drake and co. to live-action life on the big screen. According to Deadline, Real Steel director Shawn Levy has now signed on to helm the action adventure flick which is apparently still working off a script by Joe Carnahan, who was unable to take directing duties because of his commitment to Sony's Bad Boys for Life. Mark Wahlberg has been rumored for the role of Drake on several different occasions, and was said to be the frontrunner up until fairly recently - but we still haven't had anything official on that, and there's no mention of it in this report. Uncharted is an Arad/Atlas Entertainment Production, with Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad producing. »

Major Spoilers: Benedict Cumberbatch Played A Second Character In Doctor Strange
8 hours ago
Haven't seen Doctor Strange yet? Well, stop reading now! Still here? In the final act, Stephen Strange travels into the Dark Dimension and comes face to face with Dormammu, but if he looked familiar, it's because Benedict Cumberbatch played a key role in bringing him to life. Talking to IGN recently, director Scott Derrickson revealed who played the villain (he's not listed in the credits). "The voice was a British actor whose name I don't know, and Benedict – Benedict did the facial capture for it." Asked whether this was done to leave the door open to a bigger name star being cast somewhere down the line (similar to Josh Brolin being cast as Thanos), the filmmaker replied: "No, no, it wasn't that at all. We knew it was an all CG character, but as we were in production Benedict brought it up as an idea. He said, 'What would you think about me doing it? »
Doctor Strange Spoiler-Free Review; "Unlike Any Other Superhero Movie Seen Before"
Doctor Strange is one of those characters who it wouldn't have been possible to imagine being brought to the big screen just a few years ago, but a string of successes for Marvel Studios has ensured that Kevin Feige and company can do anything they please at this stage. As origin stories go, the movie admittedly follows the basic template we've come to expect, but does so in an interesting enough way that, like Deadpool, it manages to deliver something which still feels relatively fresh and exciting. Neurosurgeon Stephen Strange is arrogant, unlikable, and coldly turns away patients who don't interest him or offer the chance to increase his notoriety. However, after a car accident leaves the wealthy and successful doctor's hands irreparably damaged, he sets off on a journey which ultimately leads him to a mysterious figure known as The Ancient One. It's from here that things get really »

Scott Derrickson Would Like A More Visceral Experience In A Doctor Strange Sequel
16 hours ago
While it's likely we'll see Doctor Strange's next full appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, the possibilities are endless when it comes to the future of Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme after his first film releases on November 4th. Director Scott Derrickson confirmed to Den of Geek that he's been thinking about ideas for a sequel, given his love for the character and the source material. "I love the character, I love the visual possibilities, and I know the comics so well - [the first movie is] the tip of an iceberg. There's so much progress that can be made." Derrickson elaborated that he'd like to dig into a future villain akin to how Christopher Nolan handled the Joker and Two-Face in The Dark Knight, being able to explore that territory with the hero's origin out of the way. "What made The Dark Knight so great was that the origin story of Batman had been well-told, »

James Wan Reveals Some Surprising New Details About Aquaman And Mera's Relationship
24 October 2016 7:59 PM, PDT
In a recent interview with Bustle, Aquaman director James Wan shed some light on what we should expect from the King of Atlantis' highly anticipated solo movie. Interestingly, he compares the upcoming 2018 release to both Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone, and added: "I really want to get the classic action-adventure-romance aspect through that, and I think that’s kind of fun." Don't expect your typical movie romance though as it sounds like Aquaman and Mera will have something of a love-hate relationship, something we'll likely get our first taste of in Justice League next year. "It starts off initially with them not quite clicking with each other," Wan explains. "But then as the story progresses as they learn to try and work together, they get closer and closer. I think those stories are always such a great place for a filmmaker like myself to have fun with my actors. »
Andrew Garfield Talks The Amazing Spider-man 3's Cancellation And Seeing The Wall-Crawler In The McU
24 October 2016 6:47 PM, PDT
Before The Amazing Spider-Man 2 proved to be a disappointment, Sony had plans for a third and fourth instalment along with spinoffs revolving around the Sinister Six and Venom. When those were scrapped, Andrew Garfield found himself without a job, but it turns out that the British actor is perfectly fine with a whole new Spider-Man entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his place. "To be honest, I would not have been able to work with Mel Gibson and Martin Scorsese if I had done Spider-Man 3," Garfield said of his roles in Hacksaw Ridge and Silence (the former is generating serious Oscar buzz, so it's easy to see why he feels this way). "I’m incredibly grateful that I get to now go and watch another man play Spider-Man who I think is a fantastic actor in Tom Holland." That's all well and good, but it still has to »
