Batmaniac's Idea For Race Origins In The DC Cinematic Universe

22 December 2013 1:47 PM, PST

It goes without saying that Earth in the DC Universe is home to quite a few races, who for the most part, haven't shared contact with each other for a long time. I have come up with a few theories to explain how the multiple races of Earth came to be, as well as ways they can tie together. First I'm going to start of with... The Humans What are the origins of our species? Well, none of us know and I'm not sure if we ever will but the good thing about creating a fictional world is you can alter the events of history to you see fit. In the DC Cinematic Universes case, I believe that at some point, the origins of mankind's should be touched up on. My idea is that the ancestors of man are not only early evolutionary stages of homo-sapiens, but they all also »

More Big Daddy Concept Art For Gore Verbinski's Cancelled Bioshock Movie

22 December 2013 9:53 AM, PST

In 2008, Universal started developing a live-action film for the popular video game series, BioShock. Gore Verbinski ("The Lone Ranger") was set to direct a script to be written by John Logan ("The Last Samurai"). A year later, Watchmen struggled at the box office, which lead Universal to feel uneasy about producing a $200 million R-rated film. They requested that Gore try to make his vision for only $80 million to help mitigate their risk exposure. Gore balked at the request. He then slid over into the producer's chair, and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo ("28 Weeks Late") was hired to helm the project. By early 2010, pre-production had begun, but not long afterward BioShock creator Ken Levine stepped in and pulled the plug for good. Levine felt as though Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was not a good match for BioShock, nor was Levine willing to make other »

Could The Pacific Rim Sequel Actually Be A Prequel?

22 December 2013 8:34 AM, PST

Speaking to Empire Magazine in celebration of being named the film magazine's "Badass of the Year", actor Max Martini shared the following about working with del Toro on Pacific Rim the first go-around and returning for the sequel. "Working with Guillermo (del Toro) was a highlight, and the green-screen work was new to me....It's funny, I fell in love with this character (Herc Hansen). The key component was this relationship I had with my son, exploring the dysfunction and the loss, so where does Herc go from here? I don't know. It'll be interesting to see where Guillermo (del Toro) and Travis Beacham take it. I don't know if it's a prequel or a sequel, but if it's a prequel you'll learn more about Herc's family history. But Guillermo has such a vivid imagination, it could go anywhere." So, could the next Pacific Rim installment that Guillermo del Toro »

Alex Lynch Reviews: TellTale's The Walking Dead S2E1 - All That Remains [PC]

22 December 2013 8:18 AM, PST

The Walking Dead Season 2: All That Remains is the first episode in the highly-anticipated return of TellTale’s critically acclaimed adventure series. However, this time players control Clementine, the little girl whom we met in the first season and bonded with, as well as teaching her how to survive. However, does TellTale’s return to Walking Dead shine as a great narrative, or has the hype fallen flat? To be honest, this episode is truly only great for the development of Clementine’s character and nothing else.TellTale has asked that spoilers be kept to a minimum so it’s going to be hard to talk about the episode without diving into too much detail, honestly. However, there are some slight plot points that do not ruin the story that should be talked about. To start, just like the introduction to the first season, All That Remains is pretty basic. »

Batman vs Superman Producer On Ben Affleck And Wonder Woman

22 December 2013 7:51 AM, PST

Longtime Zack Snyder collaborator and Man of Steel producer Wesley Coller chatted with a few local Michigan news outlets on the eve of delivering the commencement speech at his alma matter, Eastern Michigan University. The conversation naturally touched on his involvement with the untitled, Batman vs Superman production, currently scheduled to kickoff filming in Michigan this February. Beginning with the online reaction to the Ben Affleck Batman casting, Coller told MLive, "Because we’ve historically done fan favorite fare – "Watchmen", we remade "Dawn of the Dead" – I’ve developed a pretty good perspective on this. Anything you do that’s culturally significant, or any time you deal with an iconic character or story, you’re going to hear responses from every possible perspective. So nothing surprises me anymore. If anything, that gauges the relevance of a property or character, and it’s invigorating to know people care that much. It »

Super Smash Bros Movie Fan Cast and Story

21 December 2013 9:18 PM, PST

Hello everyone, and welcome to another awesome fan cast. This time I am putting the characters of the Super Smash Bros series in my hands. It's a treat for Nintendo to get together all of their characters for a major game that has also turned into a popular competitive and sporting event worldwide. After the success of the gaming series we wonder, would a movie work? Nintendo hasn't had the best of success with the Super Mario Bros movie untimely failing. Although I believe there is potential in a Super Smash Bros film. With an array/roster of so many characters it could make for a fun and exciting film. Here I outline a plot and a possible cast and crew I would like to see helm the film if it ever was made. Get ready fans and get ready to rumble! _________________________________________________________ Plot The film is a sequel to the »

Cool Maquettes Of The Dark Knight Rises' Bane & The Incredible Hulk

21 December 2013 3:28 PM, PST

"This is a "Bane" maquette I sculpted for "The Dark Night Rises" for Christopher Nolan. I also sculpted the full size head on Tom Hardy's lifecast which later got scanned." - Mario Torres "This is a resin, painted cast of a Hulk I sculpted. It was painted by Tim Gore and at Spectral. It was for "The Incredible Hulk." Unfortunately it did not look like this in the movie. It did although, look more like this in "The Avengers." Yes!" - Mario Torres It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. »

Update #2: Vin Diesel Makes It Official “I Am Groot” In Guardians Of The Galaxy

21 December 2013 12:56 PM, PST

For months, Vin Diesel has teased working with Marvel on a yet-unknown intellectual property and voicing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy. However, up until today, the Fast and the Furious star was the only one confirming the latter, while director James Gunn and Marvel producer Kevin Feige declared he was all but confirmed. Well, both Diesel and Gunn have made it official today with a photo of the actor posing with a movie-accurate bust of the walking, talking tree-like character. “Vin Diesel is a super awesome dude, I can't tell you how much I like this guy,” commented James Gunn via Facebook. “I hope this [photo] puts to rest all the silly Thanos-Vin stuff which people just seemed to make up out of nothing.” The director adds that Diesel was never announced initially: “He said he wanted to do it and we said we were talking to him. Dark Phoenix Was Supposed To Kill Magneto In X-men: The Last Stand (2006)

21 December 2013 12:09 PM, PST

When Bryan Singer ("X-Men: Days of Future Past") left X-Men: The Last Stand to go off and direct Superman Returns, Brett Ratner ("Rush Hour") was had the keys to 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise. The film is not well liked by X-Men fans, as several characters are killed off. The most controversial death scene would have to go to James Marsden's Cyclops who is unceremoniously killed off-screen near the beginning of the film. One scene that I thought was handled actually quite well, was the death of Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart). Xavier goes to confront Jean at her childhood home. He tries to re-establish the mental blocks he used to suppress her powers, but Jean's alter-ego, The Phoenix, is too strong. She unleashes her powers upon Xaviere by lifting him off his wheelchair and disintegrating him. Well, apparently at one time, The Phoenix was supposed to vaporize Magneto »

Transformers: Optimus Prime Transforms Into A Gingerbread Man

21 December 2013 10:22 AM, PST

Flash required for video playback. I never had much luck constructing gingerbread houses. They were decent enough, but certainly wouldn't win any prizes. That's not the case for Caroline Eriksson. She took top prize at a gingerbread "house" competition in Norway. The professional 3D/compositing artist earned $6,500 by using 700-800 individual pieces of gingerbread to construct Optimus Prime, the version seen in Michael Bay's live-action Transformers films. Starring in "Transformers 4" is Jack Reynor in the starring role of a race car driver. The talented and beautiful Nicola Peltz has been cast in the female lead role of Reynor's girlfriend. Mark Wahlberg has signed on to play Nicola's father Flynn Vincent. Sophia Myles will play a major role as a scientist. Peter Cullen returns as the voice of Optimus Prime, and Glenn Morshower reprises his role as General Morshower. Kelsey Grammer was recently cast as the lead villain named »
