Michael Pena On Ant-man Secrecy And Edgar Wright; T.I. Talks More About Mystery Role

When Clifford "T.I." Harris visited The Breakfast Club to promote his new album, the rapper/actor talked briefly about his mystery role in Marvel's Ant-Man, for which he was just spotted filming in Atlanta earlier this week. "I play [Ant-Man's] homeboy," he reiterated before adding that his character is part of a crew. "It's four of us and each of us is an ex-con, including Ant-Man." When it was suggested that he had been typecast given his background, Harris replied, "Not really; you could say so, but I'm actually more reformed in the movie than I am in real life." In addition to T.I.'s character, the "ex-con" crew probably consists of Paul Rudd's Scott Lang, and the character to be played by David Dastmalchian. Another potential crew member is Michael Pena, whose role in the movie is also a mystery. While promoting the upcoming Fury movie, Pena talked a »

Superman Lives Screenwriter On What Tim Burton's Film Could've Been

By now many of you are well aware, filmmaker Jon Schnepp is currently working on his Kickstarter-funded documentary, "The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?", which focuses on Tim Burton's Superman movie that was close to being made in the '90s that would've starred Nicolas Cage ("Left Behind"). When the project first began, even before Tim Burton ("Big Eyes") was involved, Kevin Smith ("Clerks") wrote the first draft, but when Burton signed on he ditched it. During the long process of making Superman Lives Burton brought in screenwriter Wesley Strick to write his vision and then later on Warner Bros. hired screenwriter Dan Gilroy to rework the script so that the budget could be more manageable. Movies.com recently chatted with Gilroy about that film. Movies.com: Is there a favorite script of yours that never came to be? Gilroy: I had some pretty high-profile ones. You know, »

Warner Bros. Said To Be Eyeing This List Of Female Directors For Wonder Woman

Forbes claim to have heard that Warner Bros. already have a list of female directors they're hoping will helm Wonder Woman for them in 2017. This list includes Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), Mimi Leder (Deep Impact), Karyn Kusama (Girlfight), and Julie Taymor, the woman responsible for the disaterous Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark. However, she has found acclaim for her work on The Tempest and others. Also being considered are TV directors Michelle MacLaren (Game of Thrones) and Tricia Brook (The Walking Dead). The site adds that Bigelow, Leder, and Hardwicke, with MacLaren are the main contenders. Academy Award winning director Kathryn Bigelow is of course a fan-favourite choice to helm Wonder Woman, and while the site says that she's in the mix, it appears as if that's based more on speculation than reliable insider information.  Regardless, if true, this isn't a bad start and it will be refreshing to »

Comics: Marvel Hint At "The End" Of The Ultimate Universe In Latest Teaser

It's been two weeks of teasers from Marvel, but this might just be the most ominous yet! The Ultimate Universe jumped the shark when Jeph Loeb single handedly ruined The Ultimates and penned the ridiculous Ultimatum; sales have never really recovered. Ultimate Spider-Man still does well (especially with new lead, Miles Morales), and it's not hard to imagine him making the jump to the 616 Universe if Marvel bring this alternate reality to an end next summer. How this all relates to the other events which have been teased isn't clear of course. What do you guys think? »

Twitter Buzz: Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Lots of jokes out there about Ultron rocking two blue-tooth pieces. Stand-alone Star Wars movie script writer Gary Whitta apparently had some notes for Joss Whedon to make the robotic menace ever more "douchey". Disappointed that my note to @josswhedon to give Ultron a popped collar to make him seem like more of a super dick apparently was ignored. — Scary Whitta (@garywhitta) October 23, 2014 Josh Costella of Modern Myth Media raises an interesting point on similarities between Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Are Marvel repeating villainous motivations in wanting to make the world safe through excessive force? So...Stark's motivation for creating Ultron is basically the same motivation Shield had for Project Insight minus the intended murder. — Josh Costella (@JoshCostella) October 23, 2014 Editor/writer/director Robert Meyer Burnett has a suggestion for how WB can take down Marvel at the superhero box office. Warners should put Ultron »

Epic New Stills From The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will conclude with an epic 45-minute fight pitting a variety of Middle-Earth races against each other t the foot of the Lonely Mountain as they all take aim at the dwarven treasure of Erebor. Some new stills from the movie give us a first look at the titular battle as well as director Peter Jackson's notes on how to bring it to life on the big screen. "There’s a lot of logistics that have to be thought through," he tells Entertainment Weekly. "We have dwarves and men and elves and orcs, all with different cultures, with different weapons, and different shields and patterns and tactics. Before we could loose the first arrow, we had to design the landscape itself and figure out, ‘Okay, if we have 10,000 orcs, how much room are they going to take up?’ ” Jackson says. “ ‘Are they »

While Arrow may not be part of DC's Cinematic Universe, nods to characters who have appeared in the past like China White is why fans love this series! »

Poll: What Did You Think Of The First Avengers: Age Of Ultron Trailer?

Marvel's plan to release the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was smart, but less than 24 hours after that announcement was made, someone leaked the preview online. Disney started removing it, but after multiple downloads and sites like The Wrap and Variety all started picking up on the bootleg, their hand was forced and it was released officially.   The response has been overwhelmingly positive for the most part, and it appears as if the sequel to 2012's The Avengers might just end up beating the first movie both at the box office and in terms of how good it is. The teaser doesn't give a lot away in terms of the plot as the focus is very much put on the action and Ultron's introduction both in his first form and an even more sinister version.   The tone appears to be noticeably darker and there's »

First Wave Of Big Hero 6 Reviews Point To Disney Having A Superhero-Sized Hit

The Hollywood Reporter: "Funny and heartwarming story" "Like Frozen, Big Hero 6, co-directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams, handily defies convention in regard to presumably skewing more to one gender demo over the other. Sure, it’s got robotics and superheroes, but it also has plenty of emotional resonance and, of course, merchandising gold in the form of an oversized, huggable vinyl balloon of a Personal Healthcare Companion that bears more than a passing physical resemblance to the star of Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro. The appealing result should cast a very wide net for Disney, with a strong potential for future heroics." - Michael Rechtshaffen The Playlist: "Truly glorious to look at " "Whatever flaws it has are ones of over-enthusiasm and over-ambition and are therefore easy to forgive, especially because when it works, it really works [read: there were tears]. 22 hours ago

According to Deadline, Fox is looking to add another comic book-based show to their television lineup. The drama-based show will be titled Riverdale, and it will focus on Archie, Betty and Veronica as well as Josie and the Pussycats. Deadline says the show will be, "set in the present" and will offer "a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, exploring the surreality of small-town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade." The series will showcase the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper and rich socialite Veronica Lodge and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books — including Archie’s rival Reggie Mantle and slacker best friend Jughead Jones. »
