James Spader Describes The Motion-Capture Process For Avengers: Age Of Ultron

In the latest issue of Total Film, James Spader talks about being suited up for a mo-cap performance for the first time in his career. He describes being covered from face to fingertips in dots as being a "fantastic" experience because he felt he was able to fine-tune his performance and play around with the details a bit more than usual. Spader says he shot all of his scenes with the other actors, and most of his dialogue was recorded live, with very little added later on. "When you first meet Ultron, his physicality is very different to what he evolves to. It was in the script but we arrived at the metamorphosis of him on the set. In practice, in rehearsals ... We were able to create the physicality of the character on the motion-capture stage. They would dot me up and I was wearing a helmet that had two »

Jonathan And Christopher Nolan Not Involved With DC Superhero Slate

With 11 DC Comics superhero films, coming down the pipeline after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would be a fanboys dream to have the creative minds behind The Dark Knight trilogy return to, at the very least, shepherd a project or two. Sadly, it appears that Jonathan and Christopher Nolan's time with superheroes is at an end. At the press junket for Interstellar, Coming Soon got the confirmation from Jonathan. "I love those guys [at WB/DC Entertainment] and my brother was involved in ‘Man of Steel’ with Zack [Snyder] and David [Goyer]. [But] I kind of feel like that chapter for us is closed." It's definitely a new day and direction at Warner Bros. During the heyday of The Dark Knight trilogy, there was a time when Batman and/or his Rogue's Gallery were not allowed to be used in any other medium, be it film, television or animation. Spoiler? New Ant-man Set Pics Feature Michael Pena, Evangeline Lilly And Michael Douglas

Some action finally unfolded on the set of Ant-Man earlier this week, and Just Jared has just provided more photos from the Atlanta shoot. Including a first look at Michael Pena as what appears to be a Pym Technologies Security guard, the photos notably feature actress Evangeline Lilly in character as Hope Van Dyne as she carries her father Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), who appears to have a gunshot wound in his chest. Could this be a spoiler? Quite possibly. Anyhow, expect more action-filled set photos in the coming days as Marvel Studios has issued filming notices under the working title BigFoot to alert locals that several scenes involving "gunfire, explosions, and pyrotechnics" will be shot tonight and all throughout next week (via The Citizen). Batman V Superman: Jena Malone Doesn't Deny That 'Robin' Rumor

Okay so this is pretty much some non-news, but what else would you be doing on a Friday night if not speculating on an outlandish casting rumor? Nobody really believed that Jena Malone was actually cast in Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice when she was spotted on set, and when a new hair color gave way to the female Robin talk most of us thought the suggestion was outright laughable. Then, lo and behold THR reported that she would indeed play a role in the film, and then a Detroit news station claimed to have the Robin stuff confirmed by an extra on the set. Nothing has been made official yet of course, but UK E Online's Marc Malkin caught up with the Sucker Punch actress last night at a book launch party and asked her about it outright. "So, are you the new Robin?" I asked. »

Why the Marvel Fanboys are Hypocritical

Man of Steel  (2013) The Marvel Fanboys said: "This isn't Superman. He's too dark."  - "Superman isn't meant to be a dark, depressing character." --- "Oh no, Superman is sht. He can't be dark or gritty. Why does [Christopher] Nolan have to ruin everything!!" --- "Synderboys and Nolan fanboys love it. Real world doesn't. It's way too depresisng." The Dark Knight Rises (2012) The Marvel Fanboys said: "This movie is too slow and misrepresents Batman." --- "I know Batman is dark, but seriously, Nolan?" Now, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. A dark, gritty superhero blockbuster. "This is amazing!!" --- "I came!!" --- "This is gonna be the best movie ever." --- "Superman and Batman, welcome your Daddy." (which honestly sounded quite disturbing!)  --- "This is gonna be the true Superhero movie." The Avengers aren't meant to be Dark, Gritty, or Depressive. You called Synder and Nolan for being dark, yet when Marvel do it, »

The Walking Dead Spin-Off Lands A Director For Pilot Episode

The Shawshank Redemption's Frank Darabont directed the first episode of The Walking Dead, but it will be Adam Davidson who brings the planned spin-off to the small screen. Shooting is scheduled to begin later this year, but when the "companion" series will air hasn't been made clear. Comic book scribe and executive producer Robert Kirkman developed the untitled show with Dave Erickson (Marco Polo) and it apparently takes place during the same zombie apocalypse shown in The Walking Dead (just in a different location and perhaps even a different time period). Davidson is no stranger to TV, and his credits include the likes of Fringe, Kingdom, and Hell on Wheels. He also won an Oscar in 1991 for his short film, The Lunch Date. What do you guys think? »

Of course I do know some specifics, but it’s obviously something I’ve signed my kidneys away for.” This is great news as Fraser has an impressive body of work, having lensed the likes of not only Foxcatcher, Zero Dark Thirty, Killing Them Softly and Let Me In, »

Batman & Robin Director Joel Schumacher Returning To Gotham?!

While director Joel Schumacher ("The Lost Boys") was shooting 1997's ill-fated Batman & Robin, Warner Bros. looked at the dailies and were positive they had another hit on their hands so they began planning a third Batman film with Schumacher at the helm. Its tentative title was Batman: Triumphant and it was written by screenwriter Mark Protosevich. The plot: "The Joker would return as a hallucination in Batman's mind caused by the Scarecrow's fear toxin. Harley Quinn appeared as a supporting character, written as the Joker's daughter trying to get revenge on Batman for the Joker's death." - batman.wikia When Batman & Robin failed to beat the previous Batman films at the box office Warner Bros. cancelled those plans, and the franchise would later be rebooted by Christopher Nolan ("Batman Begins"). Now it appears that Schumacher would like to tell his true vision of Batman and will do so via comic books. »
