Update: Director Tony Scott Commits Suicide at Age 68

La's Daily Breeze is reporting (and now confirmed by other outlets) that director Tony Scott jumped to his death on Sunday from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island. According to the Los Angeles County coroner's officials, Scott (68) climbed a fence on the south side of the bridge's apex and leapt off "without hesitation" around 12:30 p.m. Investigators found a note in Scott's black Toyota Prius which listed contact information. A suicide note was later found at his office. A spokesman for the Scott family said: "I can confirm that Mr. Scott has indeed passed away. Box Office: The Expendables 2 on Top with $28.7 Million

Samuel L. Jackson Joins Spike Lee's Old Boy

Samuel L. Jackson is joining Spike Lee's remake of Chan-wook Park's revenge thriller classic Old Boy for a pivotal scene in which he gets tortured by Josh Brolin who is playing the hero of the movie. Jackson has long been considered one of the most successful actors in Hollywood, having appeared in movies that have grossed $11.7 billion worldwide including all three "Star Wars" prequels, Pixar Animation's The Incredibles and both "Iron Man" movies. Mark Millar Updates on Nemesis and The Secret Service

In various stages of development for some time, the big screen adaptation of Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's Nemesis looks to have found a new director in Joe Carnahan. Millar, via his official site, claims that the current plan is for The Grey director to helm the 20th Century Fox project with an adapted screenplay by his brother, Matthew. First published by Marvel's Icon imprint in 2010, Nemesis tells the story of an insane supervillain who decides to systematically take down the Us government. James Gunn on Short List to Direct Guardians of the Galaxy ?

When Marvel Studios announced last month that they were gearing up for a movie starring the space-faring Guardians of the Galaxy , there were lots of fan discussions about who could possibly direct such a venture, a film that woud require action and humor as well as an ability to manage a huge amount of special FX. Delfino to Play Dwight's Sister on The Office Spinoff

Majandra Delfino ("Roswell") is reportedly joining Rainn Wilson in "The Office" spinoff at NBC, according to TV Line . The site says that Delfino will play Dwight's sister, Fannie, while Blake Garrett ("New Girl," Bridesmaids ) will play his nephew, Cameron. Winona Ryder Eyes Homefront

Warner Bros. Passes on Imitation Game

Announced for development earlier this year , Warner Bros. has decided not to move forward with Imitation Game , which J. Blakeson had planned to direct. The Hollywood Reporter has the news, saying that the property is now available for other studios to pursue. Based on a true story, the Graham Moore script made the 2011 "Black List" of unproduced screenplays, telling the true story of Alan Turing, the man who cracked the Enigma code during World War II. Later in life, he killed himself after being criminally prosecuted for his homosexuality. Leonardo DiCaprio was once said to be interested in starring as Turing and the trade suggests that his lack of commitment is what ultimately lead to Warner Bros. passing on the rights. »
