Third Week at #1 for The Hunger Games

The ComingSoon.net Box Office Report has been updated with studio estimates for the weekend. Click here for the full box office estimates of the top 12 films and then check back on Monday for the final figures based on actual box office. Easter weekend saw the release of two new movies in wide release, but neither could dethrone director Gary Ross' The Hunger Games (Lionsgate), which brought in $13 million on Good Friday and an estimated $33.5 million over the three-day holiday weekend, bringing its total domestic gross to $302.8 million by Sunday night. It becomes the third movie to gross $300 million after opening in the normally slow winter-spring movie season before January and April, following Mel Gibson's The Passion of The Christ and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland »

Latino-Themed "Cousin" to Paranormal Activity in Development

Heat Vision is reporting that Jason Blum, Oren Peli and Christopher Landon - the team behind the "Paranormal Activity" films - are joining forces again for a "Latino-themed" horror film. The project is being described as a "cousin" to the "Paranormal Activity" series, however, it's not a sequel or a spin-off. A companion piece, perhaps... Landon will write and direct the film, which is currently untitled. All we know right now is that it will feature a Latino cast and the story will be rooted in a Catholic-based supernatural craziness. The goal is to go into production this year for a possible January 2013 release. »

Terrence Howard to Play the Villain in Dead Man Down

Terrence Howard ( Iron Man ) is set to play the villain in Im Global and Original Films' action-thriller Dead Man Down opposite Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace and Dominic Cooper, reports Variety . In the film, to be directed by Niels Arden Oplev (the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ), Farrell plays right hand man to an underground crime lord (Howard) in New York City who is seduced and blackmailed by Beatrice (Rapace), a crime victim seeking retribution. Games: New Look at Master Chief and Cortana in Halo 4

Game Informer has revealed its May cover which features Master Chief and Cortana from Halo 4 . The magazine's 14-page story also features more in-game screenshots and concept art revealing new locations within the "Halo" universe. Halo 4 is the eighth installment in the "Halo" franchise and is intended to be the first of a new trilogy named the "Reclaimer Trilogy." The previous "Halo" games were developed by Bungie, but Halo 4 will be the first from 343 Industries. The game is expected to be released for the Xbox 360 later this year. X-Men: First Class Sequel to Shoot in January

Heat Vision reports that Twentieth Century Fox plans on beginning the shoot for its X-Men: First Class sequel in January, meaning that there will be no conflict over Jennifer Lawrence with Lionsgate over the filming of The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire . The trade says that Fox was originally planning on filming the Matthew Vaughn-directed "X-Men" follow-up this fall, which would have conflicted with Lawrence's Catching Fire , a movie Lionsgate is targeting for an August-September start date. If that had happened, however, Fox would have won out considering the studio would have been able to exercise the sequel option on her contract, which she signed before her "Hunger Games" deal. PG-13 Granted to Bully by MPAA Without Cutting Crucial Scene

The Weinstein Company announced today that the documentary Bully has been granted a PG-13 rating without the cutting of a crucial scene. Here is the full announcement: The Weinstein Company (TWC), aided by the guidance and consultation from attorneys David Boies and Ted Olson, announced today that the MPAA has lowered the R rating, given for some language, for Bully to a PG-13 in time for the film's April 13th expansion to 55 markets.
