‘Broad City’ Previews Empowering Season 4 Episode at Comic-Con to Heal the Damage of Donald Trump

Without an introduction, without even a word from creators Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, the “Broad City” Comic-Con panel began by screening an entire episode. The hilarious and inspired sixth episode of Season 4 was filled with admirable moments, delighting the attendees who packed the expansive Indigo Ballroom in San Diego, but one aspect stood out:

Every time the name “Donald Trump” came up, it was bleeped (just like the many swear words uttered by Abbi and Ilana during their New York City adventures). But no one brought it up after the episode ended. Neither Jacobson or Glazer said anything during their 10 minutes spent previewing Season 4, and no fan asked about it during the ensuing Q&A.

‘Westworld’ and ‘Game of Thrones’: Ed Harris Doesn’t Know What’s Going On, But He Likes It

Led by the Southern accent of Reggie Watts, the giant cast of “Westworld” was cracking jokes and dropping connections during their Comic-Con panel on Saturday evening. Amid the 16 participants, Ed Harris may have been the happiest.

Though quiet unless posed a question, Harris proved himself game for anything; most notably when Watts asked him to explain why “Westworld,” a show that’s both complex and genre-bending, connected with such a large audience.

“That’s a good question, Reggie,” Harris said. “What [Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy] have created is their own genre, in a way, and it’s just extremely relevant.”

Harris went on to say he didn’t believe the show’s intricacies were a detriment to its success: far from it.

“In a way, it’s like ‘Game of Thrones,’” he said. “You watch ‘Game of Thrones,’ and I don’t know what’s going on in that thing, but I enjoy watching it. »

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Cast and Crew: If You Don’t Understand Diversity, You Don’t Understand ‘Star Trek’

The cast and producers of “Star Trek: Discovery” have no patience for the backlash they’ve been getting online over the show’s commitment to depicting the universe as a wide and varied place.

“‘Star Trek’ has always been pictorial of diversity and inclusion and universality,” star Sonequa Martin-Green said Saturday, July 22 during the “Discovery” panel presentation at Comic-Con. “It’s one of the main reasons it’s so important to so many people to this day. So if you say you love the legacy of ‘Star Trek’ but you don’t love that, you’ve missed [the point].”

Welcome back to “Westworld,” where your dreams come true, and maybe even some of your nightmares too.

Saturday’s Comic-Con panel for “Westworld” was far less creepy than the show itself, or so the robots would have us to believe. While they couldn’t answer too many questions without revealing spoilers, the series will eventually be returning for a second season in 2018.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 2: Cast Breaks Down New Characters, Villains, and ‘Sexy Scenes’ at Comic-Con

The highlight of the “Stranger Things” Comic-Con panel was the Season 2 trailer, and not just for the fans. Everyone on stage, from moderator Patton Oswalt to new cast member Paul Reiser, were visibly shaken by the wild first look at the new season.

Their reaction combined with how little they were allowed to say only added to the mystery surrounding the upcoming episodes. Oswalt repeatedly chastised himself for asking questions that were too spoiler-centric, but a few telling answers were given, especially about the new cast and character arcs for Season 2.

After speaking with the creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, and producer Shawn Levy to kick off the panel, Oswalt brought out the cast, including Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, David Harbour, Matthew Modine, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, and Millie Bobby Brown.

Family Guy” has tapped Bryan Cranston and Niecy Nash to play Peter Griffin’s new boss, filling the void left by the death of Carrie Fisher.

The casting was announced by executive producer Rich Appel during “Family Guy’s” San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday. The always raucous panel started off on a somber note, as creator Seth MacFarlane and the show’s cast and producers offered their memories of Fisher and Adam West, who played the mayor of Quahog.

MacFarlane remembered West as someone who “had boundless energy and instantly put everyone in a good mood… The man gave 150 percent right up to the end, »

‘Game of Thrones’: How Fruitcake Was Used in the Season 7 Premiere’s Most Stomach-Churning Sequence

There was a lot to unpack in last week’s “Game of Thrones” premiere, from Sansa and Jon’s infighting to Daenerys’ long-gestating plans for conquest, but one of the most memorable sequences from “Dragonstone” had little to do with war. Rather, it was our introduction to Samwell’s time at the Citadel — an apprenticeship shown in a montage that repeatedly cut between bowls of soup and overflowing bedpans.

In a new Vulture interview, actor John Bradley takes us behind the scenes of that stomach-churning sequence. Were you aware, for instance, that “if you want to re-create human feces onscreen, the best thing to do is to use soaking-wet fruitcake and mold it into the shape of turds”? Now you do.
