I dont work in art films Govinda on why he turned down Salmans offer

21 October 2014 3:36 AM, PDT

After months of persuasion by Salman Khan, Govinda has opted out of the Hindi remake of the Marathi film Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho which Salman is producing.

While Salman Khan reacted with characteristic sarcasm to Govinda's refusal, Govinda for the first time spoke about the matter saying, "I didn't like the subject of that film. It seemed an art film. I don't do art films. Audiences have certain expectations from me as an actor. They expect to be transported into a make believe world in my cinema. Films rooted to real life are not for me. I believe in the Rajinikanth school of entertainment which has no bearing on real life. I like doing films where you can hit your enemy from a foot's distance and still get him flying in the air."

Govinda is looking forward to the release of Shaad Ali's Kill Dil where he plays the villain. »
