Sc rejects Rajpal Yadavs plea tells him to surrender

Readers may recall that we had reported about the funny man Rajpal Yadav being embroiled in a legal tangle with a Delhi-based businessman M.G. Agarwal. The latest update on the same is that the Supreme Court has now ordered Rajpal Yadav to surrender before the Tihar Jail and serve 10 days of imprisonment. Rajpal Yadav, who was found guilty of producing a false affidavit, has already served four days in jail of the stipulated ten days. For the uninitiated, Rajpal Yadav had taken money in 2010 from M.G. Agarwal in order to make his directorial debut film Ata Pata Laapata. Rajpal Yadav, besides failing to repay the borrowed amount (despite court's repeated undertakings), had produced false affidavit in his defense. In a hearing that took place four days ago, Rajpal Yadav pleaded to grant him time to repay the amount, which the Supreme Court rejected. »

Sonu Sood starts Shakti Sagar Productions in memory of his father

Rajshri Medias Rajjat Barjatya passes away

The extremely affable and down to earth Rajjat Barjatya, who was working as the MD and CEO of Rajshri Media, passed away yesterday in the Mumbai based Jaslok Hospital. Rajjat Barjatya also happened to be the cousin brother of the renowned filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya. News reports state that Rajjat Barjatya had been suffering from cancer for a while now and that he was admitted in Jaslok Hospital since the last 10-12 days. Emraan Hashmis son Ayaan makes his acting debut

Emraan Hashmi's six son Ayaan was in the news of late, due to his battle with the dreaded cancer. Emraan Hashmi, who nicknamed Ayaan as a 'superhero', went onto author a book titled 'Kiss of Life: How A Superhero and my Son Defeated Cancer'. Ashutosh Gowarikers son assists him on Mohenjo Daro

As Ashutosh Gowariker readies his next purported opus Mohenjo Daro, his two sons Konark and Vishwang are all set to become filmmakers like their father. In fact, the elder son Konark, who is now 25, has already embarked on his journey as a filmmaker. Reveals the proud dad, "Konark has assisted me in Mohenjo Daro. He is passionate about filmmaking and seems to have his own ideas on how to set up the camera and compose frames. I hope, one day, he directs films that would be very different from my work." Interestingly, Ashutosh's younger son Vishwang is also keen on filmmaking. "He is 20 and he's studying filmmaking in Boston. When he returns, he will also embark on a career as a director. Farah Khan to turn judge for Jhalak Dikhla Jaa

Since the past week, there have been rumours about Farah Khan replacing Ganesh Hegde on the judging panel of the upcoming season of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa'. However putting an end to all the speculations, Ganesh Hegde recently cleared the air and clarified about Farah's presence in the dance reality show.

Dancer turned choreographer Ganesh Hegde did confirm that he would be away from the show for a while and Farah Khan would join the show for those number of episodes. Further revealing details, he also mentioned that his last episode before his departure would air on September 8 and after that he would reappear for the last four episodes of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa'. Fawad Khan never considered for Rani Padmavati

Reports that Pakistani actor Fawad Khan will be playing Deepika Padukone's husband in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Rani Padmavati seem to be someone's figment of the imagination. According to sources very close Bhansali, "Fawad was never even considered, let alone offered, Rani Padmavati. He was briefly considered for another project that Sanjay Bhansali was to produce, though not direct. As for Rani Padmavati two of the three principal cast members have already been locked in. The third is yet to be firmed in. It will be done in the next week." While Deepika Padukone will be playing the title role, Ranveer Singh will be cast as the invader Alauddin Khilji who took a fancy to the Rani. Sanjay Dutt to star in the remake of Marathi film De Dhakka

Eros International and Vashu Bhagnanis Pooja Entertainment Ltd align for the theatrical release of Dishoom and Banjo in India

Following their strategic alliance announced recently, Eros International Media Limited (Eros International), and veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment & Films Ltd, will jointly distribute the highly anticipated films, Dishoom and Banjo in India.

Sajid Nadiadwala's action drama Dishoom, directed by Rohit Dhawan, starring John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez is all set to release this Friday, July 29, while the musical drama Banjo, directed by Ravi Jadhav, starring Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri will release on September 23.

Eros and Vashu Bhagnani announced their collaboration last month to jointly remake and distribute films including Vashu Bhagnani's blockbuster hits of the 90s such as Hero No 1, Coolie No 1 and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. »

Indian films to be banned in Pakistan until Kashmir issue resolved

Is Pakistan all set to ban Indian films? The pretext and certainly not the context, being the Kashmir issue. According to reports coming in from Pakistan, a petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court by a lawyer Ishtiaq Chaudhary seeking to ban the exhibition of all Indian films, until the Kashmir issue is resolved. While stunned Bollywood denizens refused to comment until they could figure out the connection between the Kashmir issue and screening of Bollywood in Pakistan, a very senior and prolific filmmaker said on condition of anonymity, "If they ban Bollywood films from Pakistan, what will they show in movie theatres of the country? They have practically zero film production. Also, what about the Pakistani artistes who have made a career in India? Ban them from entering Bollywood?" Salman Khan to have a unique role in Tubelight

Earlier we had reported that Salman Khan whose last release Sultan set the box office registers ringing would soon commence work on his next titled Tubelight. Well, now we hear that the film in question which will also marks the actor's third collaboration with director Kabir Khan will in fact feature the actor playing a rather unique character. Apparently, Tubelight which is said to be a cross border love story set in the 60s against the Indo-China war backdrop will see Salman Khan playing a man-child who has a disability in picking up and learning things.
