Womens Day honour Rani Mukerji to be conferred National award for girl child and womens protection

Rani Mukerji flies off to Delhi today to be honoured with a National award for her endeavour to highlight the cause of the safety, security and protection of the girl children and women in Pradeep Sarkar's Mardaani.

An eminent panel of jurists and experts have selected Rani for the National Award for the 'Best Representation of the Cause of Safety, Security and Protection of Women and Girl Child' at a function organized by to Institute for Gender Justice, at India Habitat Centre, to celebrate the occasion of the International Women's Day.

Announcing the honour for Rani, Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury, the chairperson of Institute For Gender Justice says, "The representation of women in the media, both print and electronic, has been if not to say much, targeted at commodification of woman. This has had a dire consequence on the status of women which is reflected in the perpetual crime against women in the society. »

Ali Fazal replaces Arjun Rampal in Soni Razdans Love Affair

Kamal Haasan to produce Bollywood film Amar Hain

Producers send Saaf-Swachch version of Fifty Shades Of Grey for censoring verdict on Monday

It's going to be aar ya paar for director Sam Taylor-Johnson's adaptation of what has been widely designated as porn material, Fifty Shades Of Grey. Some countries have already banned the film. The fate of the film in India now hangs in the balance. On Monday the Censor Board Of Film Certification (Cbfc) will watch the controversial sexy film... But in a cleaned out avatar. Apparently, the film's Indian distributors have submitted a sanitized version of Fifty Shades Of Grey for the Cfbc to view and certify. A source from the Cbfc says, "We've received a letter along with the film Fifty Shades Of Grey stating that they've submitted a saaf, swachch version of the original so that the film is not completely unpalatable to the censor board members." Censor board views a whopping 5 films on Saturday

The new chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani of much-beleaguered Censor Board Of Film Certification (Cbfc) is determined to prove he is serious about doing his job seriously.

Sources at the Cbfc say the censor board members viewed a staggering 5 films on Saturday to ensure there is no pile-up of pending films.

They will be viewing at least three more films on Monday.

Says a source from the Cbfc, "On Saturday the panel viewed two Bhojpuri films Patna To Pakistan and Saathiya, 2 Hollywood films the controversial 50 Shades Of Grey and the new Will Smith starrer Focus and a Tamil film. At least 4 of these 5 films are scheduled for release coming Friday."
