And the New Bachelor Is …

ABC has chosen Chris Soules as the next star of The Bachelor, it was announced Wednesday on Good Morning America.

"I was humbled, flattered, grateful," he said during the reveal. "Coming from a small town I never expected to have this opportunity to be on either show, let alone be the lead on The Bachelor. So it's been awesome."

Soules, 32, became a fan-favorite on the most recent season of The Bachelorette and made it to the Final 3. During his fantasy suite date with Andi, she decided to let him go before the night was over. Following his exit, the Iowa farmer told us, "It's Ok to [be vulnerable]. When I get the opportunity with the right person, I can do that and still survive if it doesn't work out and still do it again. This helped me learn a lot about myself and how to cope and put yourself in situations and »

Any scoop on The Vampire Diaries? — Jessica

You've probably already Season 6's first teaser, which features Stefan telling Elena to move on. Well, there's a reason their convo wasn't face-to-face. When the season begins, Stefan will definitely not be anywhere near Mystic Falls. In fact, he will have taken up a surprising new profession in his new "home." And while we're the topic of professions, Alaric also has a new job. Hey, newly resurrected vampires have rent to pay too!

How long will Talia be sticking around on NCIS: La? — Mary

Sorry, Densi 'shippers: It doesn't look like Talia (Mercedes Masohn) is going anywhere soon....

Sneak Peek: Scott Bakula Previews NCIS: New Orleans

26 August 2014 5:31 PM, PDT

If you're seeking a metaphor for acting, you couldn't do much better than the body-jumping premise of Quantum Leap. In the 21 years since that series went off the air, its star, Scott Bakula, has leaped into a striking array of characters, with an initial emphasis on more sci-fi (Star Trek: Enterprise) eventually offset by a turn toward naturalistic dramedy (Men of a Certain Age). But playing a cop on a network procedural? Inexplicably, that seemingly inevitable move had proven a leap too far.

This oversight has finally been rectified with Bakula's role as the lead in NCIS: New Orleans, premiering on CBS Sept. 23 in the coveted Tuesday time slot immediately following the franchise's flagship series...

The Emmys: An Sos (Same Old Shows)

26 August 2014 6:38 AM, PDT

If you take comfort in the Emmy Awards' almost shocking predictability in rewarding so many of the same shows and stars year after year, this might have been your favorite Emmy show ever. Otherwise, good luck distinguishing this rather dreary ceremony from any other year's. Instead, maybe it's worth looking ahead to next fall, when Breaking Bad will be out of the running and (lighting a candle to the Academy powers that be) Mad Men's Jon Hamm might finally get his Emmy after losing seven in a row, although at this point I wouldn't count on it. (It would help if Mad Men raises its game for its last stand.)

Emmys 2014: Did Seth Meyers Play It Too Safe?

25 August 2014 8:22 PM, PDT

Seth Meyers continued his breakout year Monday night as the host of television's biggest night, the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Hosting a major awards show is ostensibly an honor, but increasingly, in the world of live-tweeting, a thankless assignment — and one that was made even more tedious by the fact that this year's Emmy telecast occurred on a Monday. Did Meyers rise to the occasion?

25 August 2014 12:00 PM, PDT

Lifetime has ordered Glen Mazzara's thriller Damien straight to series, the network announced on Monday.

Based on the 1976 horror classic The Omen, the follow-up series is about the adult life of Damien Thorn, the mysterious child from the original film, who has grown up seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him.  Haunted by his past, Damien must now come to terms with his true destiny — that he is the Antichrist, the most feared man throughout the ages.

"We are thrilled to be bringing a contemporary version of The Omen's Damien Thorn back to the screen. Glen Mazzara has re-imagined him as a dark, romantic, anti-hero and this fresh take blends complex characters with premium storytelling to make something truly original," Lifetime's Executive Vice President and General Manager Rob Sharenow said in a statment.

10 Things We Learned About the Real Larry from Orange Is the New Black

25 August 2014 10:45 AM, PDT

As most people know, Netflix's successful series Orange Is the New Blackis based on the memoir of Piper Kerman's time spent in prison. But while Kerman has spoken about what's true and what the show has taken liberties with — and the "real" Alex has also spoken out in a detailed Vanity Fair piece — for the first time, the man in Kerman's life, Larry, is opening up.

In an article in the online magazine Matter titled "My Life with Piper: From Big House to Small Screen," Smith talks about the other side of the true story. From his near-perfect life essentially crashing at 29 to Kerman's incarceration, her book, the TV series and everything in between, Smith shines a light on what it's like to be that guy -- played by Jason Biggs -- who inspired a big part of Orange. Here are 10 things we learned from his story.

Beyoncé Puts Divorce Rumors to Rest with a Kiss from Jay Z on VMAs Stage

25 August 2014 7:04 AM, PDT

Beyonce used the MTV stage yet again to put rumors to rest. Although she confirmed her pregnancy with a belly rub a few years back, this time she used a kiss with her husband Jay Z  to perhaps squash reports that the couple is heading for divorce.

On hand to receive the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, the 32-year-old diva performed a 16-minute set (watch it here) that included "Drunk in Love," "Mine" and "Jealous" as Jay watched from the audience with the couple's daughter Blue Ivy on his lap. After the performance, Jay and Blue came onstage to present a tearful Queen Bey with the award as the adorable 2-year-old said, "Good job, Mommy." Jay Z and Beyonce kissed after he handed her the statuette.

Miley Cyrus Nabs Top Honor at VMAs, Homeless Teen Accepts Award on Her Behalf

25 August 2014 6:31 AM, PDT

Miley Cyrus was the big winner at Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards, but it wasn't receiving the top honor or giving an outrageous performance that had people talking. Instead, Cyrus didn't even take the stage -- she had a young homeless man accept the trophy on her behalf, while she watched through tears from her seat.

After Jimmy Fallon announced that Cyrus won Video of the Year for "Wrecking Ball," the 21-year-old hugged a young man who then walked on stage, speech in hand. "My name is Jessie," he said. "I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now ... Though I may have been invisible to you on the streets, I have the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight. »
