A to Z Will Be Your New Favorite "Relationship Comedy"

A to Z creator Ben Queen won't share what will happen to Andrew and Zelda after eight months on his new NBC comedy, but he can guarantee one thing.

"I can promise she won't die," Queen tells TVGuide.com. "Cristin [Milioti] is a delight. I want to keep her around."

Milioti — who is "very flattered" by the outrage at her How I Met Your Mother fate — plays Zelda, the "Z" to Andrew's (Ben Feldman) "A" on the comedy (premieres Thursday, 9:30/8:30c). She's a tough-as-nails lawyer who doesn't believe in love. He's a heart-on-his-sleeve hopeless romantic who sings Celine Dion in the car and is convinced that he saw Zelda in a silver dress at a party two years ago. "They will date for eight months, three weeks, five days and one hour," omniscient narrator Katey Sagal tells us. "This television program is the comprehensive account of their relationship from A to Z. »

Grey's Anatomy Newcomer Kelly McCreary: Maggie and Meredith Are Like "Oil and Water"

Grey's Anatomy's newest surgeon, Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), has been welcomed to Grey Sloan Memorial with not quite open arms on the part of her (unwitting) half-sister, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). And the dislike is becoming mutual, as viewers saw at the end of last week's episode.

"They're like oil and water," McCreary tells TVGuide.com. "It's a little bit of a heartbreak for [Maggie] to discover that her sister is not somebody that she really wants to know, in spite of the fact that she came all this way to find out."

Analysis: Why Your Cable Bill is So High

Think your $150-plus monthly cable bill has gotten out of control? You're not alone.

Earlier this summer, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) launched a website for consumers to share their TV billing horror stories. Within 10 days, her office received 428 responses, mostly complaints about the rising cost of TV and broadband services. Several people criticized inconsistent charges, unexpected bill increases and new fees for services they didn't want.

A New Romance and a New Frenemy! 6 Teases from Nina Dobrev for The Vampire Diaries Season 6

The Vampire Diaries' Elena Gilbert might be distraught after losing the love of her life, but she's certainly got a funny way of showing it.

Gone is the girl we saw sobbing over the loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) when the "Other Side" crumbled at the end of Season 5. Instead, get ready for an upbeat, albeit somewhat delusional Elena (Nina Dobrev) burying her head in her studies while nursing a new hallucinatory spell problem on the side.

Sons of Anarchy: Walton Goggins Tells Us About That Kiss

Guess who's back?

Tuesday's episode of Sons of Anarchy featured the return of Venus Van Dam, the transgender escort played by Justified's Walton Goggins in each of the FX drama's last two seasons. But this time things went to a whole new level.

Sons of Anarchy: Walton Goggins on playing the softer side of Venus Van Dam

When Jax (Charlie Hunnam) needed to track down the wife of a preacher the club had killed, he called on Venus to help. (Turns out the dead man was one of Venus' frequent clients.) According to Goggins, coming back for Sons' final season was a no-brainer. "I look for any opportunity to put on high heels honestly," Goggins tells TVGuide.com with a laugh....

Mega Buzz: Walking Dead's Villain, a Grey's Secret and Fire's Replacement

Each week, executive editor Adam Bryant satisfies your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

I am dying for some Walking Dead scoop. Got anything? — Matt

This season certainly doesn't waste any time getting into the action! Look for a very bloody first episode that offers some quick answers about the people of Terminus. Remember when executive producer Robert Kirkman told us that Terminus leader Gareth was not the season's major villain? That doesn't mean he isn't sufficiently creepy!

The conversation between Richard and Maggie on last week's Grey's Anatomy was so upsetting. Is he ever going to tell her that he's her father? — Karen

After her less-than-great first impression of Meredith, it's pretty clear that Maggie isn't jumping at the chance to incorporate more new relatives into her life....

Jennifer Love Hewitt's "Fearless" Agent and a Jane Lynch Return? 7 Teases for Criminal Minds Season 10

30 September 2014 2:19 PM, PDT

Erica Messer can't think of a more perfect day for Criminal Minds to turn 10.

"Episode 10.1 airs on 10/1. How cool is that?" Messer tells TVGuide.com. "It wasn't planned. We didn't know that until we started back up and we were well in the swing of things, and [CBS] mentioned that the premiere would be a little later than usual because of Extant and Survivor. So it's great timing."

Fall TV: Hot scoop on your favorite returning shows

But for Messer, "seven" is the magic number for Season 10. After Jeanne Tripplehornleft the series in the Season 9 finale, Messer told TVGuide.com at the time that she wasn't sure if they would replace her or just stick with the remaining six Bau members. "It was a really big, long conversation with the network and the studio, and they said, 'Let's go ahead and try to find someone new,'" she says.

Kevin Williamson Defends Stalker's Violence: "I Enjoy Scaring People"

30 September 2014 2:00 PM, PDT

Kevin Williamson is no stranger to defending his work. At the Television Critics Association tour this summer, the creator of The Following and CBS' new thriller Stalker raised eyebrows by encouraging a critic to just "change the channel" if he didn't like what he was seeing on screen. ("I think some people are still kind of raw over The Following," Williamson admitted to TVGuide.com after the panel. "They're fair questions.")

And there's no question that Stalker won't be for everybody. Accusations of excess violence and even misogyny have been leveled at Williamson based on the pilot, whose opening sequence shows a woman screaming as she getting burned alive in her car. But he insists that Stalker is not as violent as The Following, and appeals to a different sense of fear.

It's getting really real on The Goldbergs.

Shirley, Community fans are going to be disappointed with this news. But alas, it's true: Yvette Nicole Brown is departing the fan favorite comedy after five seasons.

Brown — who has played Shirley Bennett since the 2009 launch of Community — confirms to TV Guide Magazine that she has asked to be released from her contract for personal reasons. Sony Pictures TV and executive producers Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna have honored her request.

The actress says the change was necessary in order to take care of her ailing father. "My dad needs daily care and he needs me," Brown says. "The idea of being away 16 hours a day for five months, I couldn't do it. It was a difficult decision for me to make, but I had to choose my dad."

New Season Reviews: Selfie, Manhattan Love Story, PBS's Makers On Women in Comedy

30 September 2014 8:01 AM, PDT

How I'd love it if any of this season's dismal new wave of romantic comedies, all vying to be the next How I Met Your Mother, made me Lol. Sadly, I'm more inclined to search for a "cringe" emoticon, especially where ABC's two new Tuesday night entries are concerned.

The less objectionable is Selfie (8/7c), a strained attempt to update Pygmalion to the Instagram era, but coming off more like My Fair Lucy — because this Eliza Doolittle, here called Eliza Dooley (Doctor Who's Karen Gillan), is silly and vapid beyond belief or tolerance.
