Watch Pixar's Up, As Directed By Michael Bay

Editing. It changes everything, from tone to intent. Mess with the pacing, and you change an entire film. Swap the musical cues of a brilliant composer for a tech-metal track from a Top 40 super group, and you have a whole new scene. And as this video shows, manipulate a classic Pixar film to make it look like it.s part of Michael Bay.s canon. Or cannon. With Bay, either applies. YouTube user MrStratman7 took a pass at Pete Docter.s Up, changing the score and moving the audio so that it felt more like a traditional Michael Bay movie. He worked with the dialogue at his disposal, and added a few explosions. Ok, a ton of explosions. Because Bay = Explosions. Everybody knows that. I also believe he ramped up the lighting. I can.t recall this many lens flares in Up. Maybe it.s just been a while since »

Tom Cruise Gets Drenched Accepting Pan Cast's Ice Bucket Challenge

2014 is evidently the summer of the Ice Bucket Challenge -- an effort to raise money and awareness for Als -- and the trend has very clearly spread to movie sets. In the video above, Tom Cruise and Mission: Impossible 5 director Christopher McQuarrie are accepting the Pan cast's Als Ice Bucket Challenge on behalf of the cast of MI5. And if you haven't seen it already, here's the Pan cast's challenge to them: Hugh Jackman shaved his head for his Pan role, what's a little bit of ice water for a good cause? The Pan cast challenged Tom Cruise and the entire cast of Mission: Impossible 5, Oscar Isaac and the cast of Star Wars, and talent agency William Morris Endeavor. Tom Cruise and Mission: Impossible 5 director Chris McQuarrie accepted the challenge, and in absence of the rest of the cast, Cruise and the director took multiple buckets of water. »

Pixar's The Good Dinosaur Has Been Completely Dismantled And Reimagined

No Pixar film has had a rougher road to theaters than the upcoming The Good Dinosaur. First announced as being in development during the summer of 2011, the project hit the skids last summer when it was revealed that director Bob Peterson had been removed from the movie. While the finished product was supposed to actually come out this past May, its release date was bumped all the way to late 2016. Through all of these changes and push backs, it's been hard to get a real sense of exactly how much change The Good Dinosaur has been going through. If one of its voice actors is to be believed, then the reality is that Pixar has basically been starting over from scratch. John Lithgow, who was announced as being part of The Good Dinosaur during the Pixar presentation at D23 last year, recently sat down for an interview with Collider, and »

Even Captain America: The Winter Solider's Honest Trailer Has To Admit It's An Amazing Film

Marvel Studios has been working hard to put out good stuff for years, but they truly stepped up their game earlier this year with the release of Joe and Anthony Russo's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Not only was the film yet another thrilling chapter in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe - moving the world forward in a fascinating way - it was also an incredibly well-executed political thriller that just happen to have comic book characters playing out the roles of heroes and villains. It remains one of the best reviewed titles of the year, and is still the most successful domestic release of 2014, even after almost the entire summer season has passed. It's actually a challenge to really say anything too negative about the film - and working towards that end, the long-running series Honest Trailers has admitted defeat. With Captain America: The Winter Soldier coming to »

Sigourney Weaver Passes On The Female Expendables Spin-Off

We've been hearing rumors of an all-female version of The Expendables - nicknamed The Expendabelles - going back to 2012, and while names like Linda Hamilton, Milla Jovovich, and more have come up in wishlists and conversations, there is one actress in particular whom many would call the queen of female action stars. Sigourney Weaver will forever go down in cinema history for playing hero Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise, and Sylvester Stallone himself has talked about his desire to have her be a part of the larger franchise. Too bad that's not going to happen. Buried in an article about how Sigourney Weaver is joining the A-list cast of the fantasy adaptation A Monster Calls, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the actress has said no to the idea of being a part of Expendabelles. Sadly, the article contains no other information about the situation, simply stating that she »

See The Original Dune Handout That 'Helped' Fans Follow Along

One of the key reasons that prognosticators under-estimated the performance of Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy is because modern audiences haven't always proven to be up for big space adventures that aren't already part of their own established cinematic brand. In the last couple of years we have seen big budget epics like John Carter and Ender's Game completely fail to capture attention, perhaps because people weren't interested in keeping track of the special terminology and following the progression of new world building. As it turns out, studios were paranoid about this kind of reaction to complex sci-fi dating all the way back to 1984, as evidenced by these Dune "glossaries" that have found their way online. What you see above and below are two full pages of definitions that were handed out to patrons paying to see director David Lynch's adaptation of Frank Herbert's famous sci-fi »

Hollywood Faces A Record-Setting Box Office Slump, Despite Guardians Of The Galaxy Boost

While August has classically been considered a weak spot on the Hollywood release date schedule, with studios regularly using the time as a sort of dumping ground for blockbusters they don't have much faith in, that hasn't been the case so far in 2014. The month got off to a hot start with the release of Marvel Studios' record-setting Guardians of the Galaxy, and a second week boost came in the form of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Those unexpected hits have certainly been good for the industry as a whole, but unfortunately they haven't been enough to turn fortunes around for this entire season. The Hollywood Reporter has crunched the numbers, and while August ticket sales have been impressive, the reality is that the summer box office as a whole is on track for a record drop. It was back in July that we learned that the season was on »

Johnny Depp To Star With His Teenage Daughter In Kevin Smith's Action-Adventure Yoga Hosers

Kevin Smith has a number of big shot Hollywood friends, having worked with a number of them during his time as a director, but recently he has apparently become close with Johnny Depp, of all people. Back in April it was "revealed" that the Oscar-nominated actor would be playing a role in the filmmaker's upcoming horror movie Tusk, but their collaboration isn't ending there. Now new reports have surfaced saying that Depp will actually be the star of Smith's next feature - and he'll be bringing along his daughter for the ride. The Hollywood Reporter is now saying that Johnny Depp is now attached to star in the upcoming film Yoga Hosers, and he'll be doing so alongside his real life daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, as well as Kevin Smith's daughter Harley Quinn Smith. Based on an original screenplay by Smith, the story centers on two Canadian 15-year-old girls named »

This Week In Home Entertainment: The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Boardwalk Empire And More

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Blu-ray The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starts off with a cutesy chase scene and follows with a romantic interest fans can root for. Unfortunately, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also offers an array of villains and movie tropes we.ve seen before, cut together so that even a moment of tragedy for our hero isn.t very affecting. It must be great to play Peter Parker. Even in Spider-Man.s most conflicting moments, Andrew Garfield seems to be having a whole lot of fun. His scenes.especially those shared with character Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).are full of verbal wit and a good-natured sense of love and respect. Like all versions of Spider-Man, this Peter Parker is still torn, torn by the life he lives as an average human and his duties toward New York City. When new villain Electro (Jamie Foxx) brings Oscorp back into the picture, »

Watch The Foo Fighters Turn The Ice Bucket Challenge Into A Brilliant Horror Homage

Sooner or later, we.ll stop sharing all of these celebrity ice bucket challenges. I promise. But the trend won.t stop today, primarily because Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters took the Als charity event / viral-video bonanza to a new level. Watch what we believe is the best of the ice bucket challenges, to date: And with that, Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters win the global ice bucket challenge, hands down. How do you top a brilliant Carrie homage? Grohl even calls out Carrie author Stephen King and original Carrie star John Travolta at the start of his clip. We can only hope that Travolta answers with an homage to one of his classic roles. Can he call out Olivia Newton-John before dumping a bucket of Grease over his head? Or maybe he can shout out to Nicolas Cage in a Face/Off-inspired challenge video? Knowing Travolta.s »

A Deformed Robin And 4 Other Batman V Superman Characters Scoot McNairy Might Be Playing

Time for a superhero rumor with some. legs! (Ok, sorry. That was horrible. I.ll stop now. On with the show.) Zack Snyder.s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice has been busy filming in and around Detroit for weeks now. And they haven.t been hiding their presence. Onlookers have picked up photos of Metropolis and Gotham helicopters, and even photos of Ben Affleck.s aging Bruce Wayne as he springs into action to (we think) save civilians from a crumbling building. No image, though, has created as much of an uproar as the one Batman-News.com shares. Click here to see a photo of Batman v. Superman co-star Scoot McNairy and his. socks. Yes, the Argo co-star was photographed smoking a cigarette and checking his phone, allegedly between takes. But when you scan down, you see that Scoot McNairy is wearing socks over his calves that suggest his »

Michael Myers May Get Stabby Again In Halloween: The Next Chapter

One, two, Michael.s coming for you.wait, that.s not it. Doot do-do, doot do-do, doot doot dee-do, doot do-do, doot do-do, doot doot dee-do. Is everybody ready for another entry in the life of movie monster Michael Myers? Because it.s coming . very slowly, mind you, as knife-wielding maniacs are wont to travel. A brand new sequel is rumored to be in the works, and it.s reportedly being called Halloween: The Next Chapter. I.m guessing Dawn of Michael Myers or Age of Halloween didn.t get upvoted enough during Dimension Films. board meetings. News of this new title comes to us from SchmoesKnow, whose source says the script for Halloween: The Next Chapter won.t be coming until the fall of 2015, which is kind of mind-blowing. I.m fairly certain that Rob Zombie cranked out the screenplays for his two Halloween films in mid-sneeze. »

Jon Favreau's Chef Just Made A Bold Move To Stay In The Oscar Hunt

Ok guys, it's time to fess up: you didn't see Chef this summer, did you? We've written about it constantly, named it one of the best films of 2014 so far, gave it a glowing review, and even listed five reasons why it's the best kitchen movie ever, but you haven't gotten around to it. It's okay - we're not judging here. After all, it was an independent release and sent out to a limited number of markets theatrically. Note that we said it, was, because that soon will no longer be the case. That's right, folks! If you want to grab another helping, or if you're just taking your first bite, Jon Favreau's Chef is coming back for a wide theatrical re-release on Labor Day weekend! The Hollywood Reporter broadcast the good news, which got a massive signal boost from writer/director/star Jon Favreau on his Twitter feed: »

Forget Cornetto! Edgar Wright And Simon Pegg Are Doing This Together

It was nearly a year ago to the day that Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost drew a curtain on their Cornetto Trilogy with The World's End. But the end of this thematic threesome that included the apocalyptic comedy, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, doesn.t mean an end to the collaboration of the men behind it. So says Simon Pegg! As a guest on BBC 6 Music, Simon Pegg revealed that he Edgar Wright are already brewing a new movie up that will move beyond the three films they have already collaborated on. The actor shared a string of details about the new project, but sadly nothing too specific. He began, "Edgar and I were having a conversation the other day about it, and it has a title and everything. We're kind of into a creative cycle now." Speaking of the Cornetto trilogy, Pegg went on: "When »

Benedict Cumberbatch Will Get Deadly In Andy Serkis' Jungle Book

Two dueling Jungle Books are making their way through pre-production. Disney and Jon Favreau's has had the advantage, scoring big headlines with an all-star cast that includes Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Ben Kingsley and Lupita Nyong'o. But today Warner Bros has struck back with a compelling casting coup of their own, securing international star Benedict Cumberbatch. According to THR, Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on to Warner Bros' adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. In the family-adventure helmed by motion-capture master Andy Serkis, the Sherlock star is poised to play the man-eating tiger Shere Khan. The story of The Jungle Book centers on human boy Mowgli and his exploits in the jungle, where he was raised by wolves and befriends a bear named Baloo, and a panther called Bagheera. Shere Khan is a ravenous predator who relentlessly hunts the boy, making him an »

Some Movie Theaters Will Allow Text Messages To Appear On The Screen

Most of us would agree that texting in movie theaters has become a serious problem. Certain theater chains . like the Alamo Drafthouse . go out of their way to protect patrons from the annoyance of handheld devices being used during the theatrical experience. Now, however, major theaters in China are going in the opposite direction in order to appeal to tech-savvy ticket buyers. Meet the "bullet screens" concept (a name that really needs to be changed due to gun-violence sensitivity, particularly following recent events during movie screenings). THR reports that movie theaters in major Chinese cities are rolling out this new technology that allows audience members to "send text messages commenting on the film, which are then projected directly onto the screen." Because that.s what we want. The Mystery Science Theater treatment of our first-run movies at the multiplex. The idea behind the "bullet screens" grows from the fact that »

Bradley Cooper To Become Super Spy Mack Bolan

You might not know the name Mack Bolan, but the secret agent has been the hero of more than 600 novels. Yeah, that's right. And you thought James Bond was prolific. But while 007 has been tearing it up in 30-some movies based on the Ian Fleming books, Mack Bolan has struggled for decades to make to the big screen. But at long last it looks like this storied spy will get there, thanks to Bradley Cooper. Deadline reports Warner Bros. has secured the rights to Don Pendleton's Mack Bolan book series, buying them from screenwriter/producer Shane Salerno. From here, the studio is developing a vehicle for two-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper, who is also set to co-produce the pic. Cooper will share producing duties with Salerno as well as Todd Phillips, his director in The Hangover I, II & III. Phillips could ultimately helm this Cooper movie too. Mack Bolan »

Marvel Has Quietly Been Working On Captain Marvel And Black Panther Movies

We all know that Kevin Feige has a master plan when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considering he has a chart that takes the filmmaking powerhouse that is Marvel Studio to 2028, it's safe to assume that he has a good idea of what's coming down the pike, or at the very least what he wants to see come down the road and into movie houses worldwide. Apparently his plan isn't as immune to fan requests as we thought, however, as he recently admitted he is listening to what the fans are asking for. IGN recently sat down with Kevin Feige for an interview, and in that interview, he was probed specifically about whether Captain Marvel or Black Panther would be on the silver screen at any point in the foreseeable future. With the precision of an Iron Man rocket, Feige addressed this head on. "They're both characters that »
