Weekend Box-Office

Weekend Box-office New Moon rising! We all knew that New Moon was going to be the #1 movie this weekend at the box-office but the question was just how much it would earn and what records it would break. Well the teen-powered vampire/werewolf saga brought in an estimated $140.7 million this weekend to make it the second best opening weekend in history (behind The Dark Knight, which brought in $158.4 million back in... »

Worthington's Crime

21 November 2009 4:47 AM, PST

While we continue to await evidence that Aussie actor Sam Worthington is qualified to wear the A-list label, he keeps working on more opportunities to prove it. The impending blockbuster star (Avatar, Clash Of The Titans) is now attached to an adaptation of the upcomig Radical Comics series The Last Days Of American Crime. Worthington would presumably not be playing the character on the cover. The book comes from prolific comic writer Rick Remender (Fear Agent, Punisher) and artist Greg... »

Up in the Air clips

21 November 2009 4:33 AM, PST

Next year's Oscars might as well start working on an "Up" theme -- along with Pixar's wonderful elder adventure, Jason Reitman's Up In The Air is getting buzz for being one of the year's best films. And while it's still a few weeks before you can find out for yourself, until then you can get some tiny out-of-context samples of Clooney and his apparently bottomless charm. Check out a couple below and more in our vid section Here. »

Brothers dream clip

20 November 2009 12:12 PM, PST

There's something sort of creepy about Brothers. Nothing creepy about this clip from the movie though. You've got Carey Mulligan apologizing to Natalie Portman while sitting in the floor. Even in this little clip you get a taste of how great an actress Mulligan is. Not only that, but the girl is gorgeous. The creepy part is the character that Tobey Maguire plays. I can't blame the guy for being a little lost and upset. His wife (Portman) slept with his brother (Gyllenhaal), who... »

Megan will live on

20 November 2009 11:10 AM, PST

Megan Fox said some shit about Michael Bay, but who cares? He sure as hell doesn't. Back in September, Megan Fox said a curious thing about her Transformers director, "[Michael] wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he's a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he's not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he's so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social... »

Season of Witch trailer

20 November 2009 9:27 AM, PST

Here's the trailer for the upcoming Nic Cage flick Season Of The Witch. The verdict? Um, it's got Christopher Lee and Ron Perlman in it... Honestly, it reminds me of the B movies I used to see on the shelf at Blockbuster. This just does nothing for me, and even though they used "Long Hard Road Out of Hell" by Marilyn Manson in the trailer, it still doesn't work. Maybe I'm just judging it too harshly. The director is Dominic Sena who usually does average work. The only movies of... »

Abrams' Salt and Gorn

20 November 2009 5:55 AM, PST

A little while ago, I showed you what J.J. Abrams' Klingons would have looked like had they not been cut from the final version of Star Trek, and the result was that actually, they were pretty damn cool. Well, according to this special feature from the DVD (via TrekMovie), there were other classic Trek creatures cut during the Klingon prison scene as well. Below you’ll find Abrams’ renditions of the Salt Vampire and Gorn, which unfortunately we never got to see on screen.... »

Jane Eyre gets cast

20 November 2009 4:20 AM, PST

Classic literature fans rejoice! Amidst all the video games and toys being turned into movies, someone out there still thinks it's a good idea to make films out of classic novels. Granted, "Jane Eyre" has had a ton of onscreen adaptations to date, both in TV and film, but it’s been awhile, so it appears it’s about time for another one. Inglourious Basterd’s Michael Fassbender and Alice In Wonderland’s Mia Wasikowska are said to be attached to... »

Hoffman no Focker?

20 November 2009 3:14 AM, PST

There's drama on the set of Little Fockers, and it may result in Gaylord Focker being fatherless. EW is reporting that Dustin Hoffman may not be back to reprise his role as Stiller’s free lovin’ dad, Bernie. What’s the issue? “There has been strife between Hoffman and the studio over the size of the part, the scheduling of the days on set and other difficulties. Hoffman had tentatively agreed to appear in what was to be a very funny cameo at the end of... »

Review: Bad Lieutenant

20 November 2009 3:01 AM, PST

Plot: New Orleans cop Terrence McDonagh (Nic Cage) slides into drug abuse after a back injury during Hurricane Katrina. He falls further and further into corruption as he accosts club goers, steals cocaine from his precinct and joins a gang of drug lords. He gambles to excess, he hallucinates iguanas. He clings to his prostitute girlfriend (Eva Mendes), he takes care of his alcoholic dad's dog...there is a murder investigation in here somewhere as well. Review: Did you ever go to a... »

Jason Segel's new song

20 November 2009 2:43 AM, PST

If my favorite part of Forgetting Sarah Marshall is Paul Rudd's advice to a forlorn Jason Segel, my second favorite is the "Dracula's Lament" musical that Segel performs at the end. Many thought it might be nominated for an Oscar. It wasn't. And the Oscar eventually went to Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard for Once's "Falling Slowly." While you might chalk that up to "Falling Slowly" being a beautiful song from an equally beautiful film, Segel thinks it's all... »

Bts of Wolfman!

20 November 2009 2:17 AM, PST

Just earlier this week, a new cut of The Wolfman screened for a preview audience in Los Angeles. I've heard bits and pieces out of the screening and mostly there's reason to be optimistic. Sure there's work to be done but that's precisely why they held this screening. They're still scoring the film, finishing FX and working on editing the cut. I've been excited by both of the trailers so far so I'm not jumping to any conclusions with all these rumors just yet. Today we've got a... »

One more for Thor

20 November 2009 1:23 AM, PST

With Thor gearing up to begin filming in just about two months, sets are being built and the cast is being finalized. Just the other day, the Warriors Three were announced and today we get one last piece of casting news for the film. Idris Elba has signed on to play Heimdall, one of the trusted servants of Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and the guardian of Asgard. In the comics, Heimdall was the brother of Sif and while it's possible they may keep that angle for the movie, Elba and actress... »

4th Underworld coming

20 November 2009 1:12 AM, PST

Back before any of this Twilight business, there was another movie franchise about warring factions of vampires and werewolves. It was called Underworld and while it lacked some of the obvious melodrama present in the Twilight franchise, I can't really say that they were all that much better. Yet they were profitable in their own little way and Sony-based Screen Gems is moving forward on a fourth Underworld film. John Hlavin ("The Shield") has signed on to write the film with... »

Gladiators gets writer

20 November 2009 1:00 AM, PST

Sooo this American Gladiators movie is actually happening, huh? It was announced back in March and seemed like a ridiculous idea at the time but one that, like the once-planned Battle Of The Network Stars movie, would eventually fizzle out. But here we are, a good 8 months later and the American Gladiators movie is actually making progress. Peter Iliff (Point Break, Varsity Blues) has signed on to write the screenplay for the film, the plot of which still remains extremely vague. Are... »

Buddy Holly documentary

20 November 2009 12:06 AM, PST

It seems like Buddy Holly is indeed alive and well, in more ways than one (maybe even more than Gary Busey these days). A little while ago, we wrote about the new Jon Heder flick that is in production titled Alive And Well based on Bradley Denton.s excellent sci-fi  adventure novel Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede. We.d also like to update you on a documentary chronicling Holly.s last tour (The Winter Dance Party tour) in 1959, where he tragically died... »

Review: The Blind Side

19 November 2009 11:53 PM, PST

Plot: The story of NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), who, as a homeless teenager, was taken in by a wealthy Southern family, The Tuohy.s, headed by a fast food magnate (Tim McGraw), and his strong willed wife (Sandra Bullock). Through their encouragement, he was able to overcome his tragic childhood, and discover a knack for football. Review: The Blind Side is a good example of the type of slick, Oscar-bait films the big studios tend to release around this time of... »
