The Twilight Saga: New Moon Movie Review
19 November 2009 8:00 PM, PST
I just got back from seeing New Moon! I am not fond of how the books are written, but fell in love with the story. I watched Twilight and really loved the esoteric ambiance and level of feeling it brought out in me, so I looked forward to seeing New Moon. However, I did not have fangirl expectations or a critics eye, as I accept the story for what it is...Edward and Bella's story.
I am sad to say that New Moon disappointed. I don't know if it's because of the new director or the rush to finish the movie but I found the story dragged excessively and lacked the ambiance of the first one. I loved that they included poetry and poetical sense, but it was inconsistent and several times I felt the music didn't fit the tone of what was happening. (Where was that beautiful score of the first movie? »

New Moon Breaks More Records
17 November 2009 8:00 PM, PST
The best move that Summit ever made was to get the rights to the Twilight Franchise. That film franchise is a license to print money. Or at least take money from every teenage girl in the free world. Not only has the film sold out 2100 theaters and its not even out yet but its also now accounting for 94% of all Ticket Sales. Can you say cha-ching?
The anticipation surrounding “New Moon” has been growing since tickets went on sale in September, and the film is certainly living up to expectations. Today “New Moon” breaks another record capturing the No. 1 spot on MovieTickets.com’s list of the Top-10 Advance Ticket Sellers of All-Time. The film surpassed the former top contender “Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and film franchises including “Harry Potter” and “Lord of the Rings” as it set a new record.

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Movie Review
17 November 2009 8:00 PM, PST
Abel Ferrara's original Bad Lieutenant didn't really strike me as a movie that cried "sequel". It was dark, gritty, and and a little hard to watch at times, but was well worth watching, if only for a great gonzo performance from Harvey Keitel, and the scene where he pulls over two New Jersey club rats and makes them do sexually degrading things while he pleasures himself.
In Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, there's no scene quite on par with that one. It tries, that's for sure. and it's not the fault of either Nicolas Cage or the director Werner Herzog. Surprisingly, they have turned in a police procedural. Sure, it's a procedural directed by Werner Herzog, about a police officer with a drug and gambling addiction seeking redemption in his world, but it's still far more straightforward than one would expect given the "source material." The movie »

Paranormal Activity DVD Date
17 November 2009 8:00 PM, PST
The DVD date has been set for Paranormal Activity and its sooner then you might think. Paramount is making a smart move and capitalizing on all their viral marketing by releasing the film onto DVD on December 29th. Of course I do not know how much money I will have to spend on the 29th but here is hoping somebody gives me the best gift of all.... the gift of cash.
You know your movie has made a ton of money when the return on investment for the studio is 400,000%. Paranormal Activity which was made for $15,000 has now made over $80million at the box office which has made it the most profitable film in history. It dethrones the Blair Witch project which for the longest time had that title.
Paranormal Activity has gotten rave reviews from horror fans. You can checkout our review of the film here: Paranormal Activity Review. »

Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel and Justin Long Interview, Planet 51
16 November 2009 8:00 PM, PST
MoviesOnline sat down recently with Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel and Justin Long to talk about their new film, “Planet 51,” a galactic-sized animated alien adventure comedy.
When American astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker (Johnson) lands on Planet 51, he thinks he's the first person to step foot on it only to discover that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950s America, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders...like Chuck! With the help of his robot companion "Rover" and his new friend Lem (Long), Chuck must navigate his way through the dazzling, but bewildering, landscape of Planet 51 in order to escape becoming a permanent part of the Planet 51 Alien Invaders Space Museum.
Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel and Justin Long are fabulous people and we really appreciated their time. »

Making New Moon Shine
15 November 2009 8:00 PM, PST
The Twilight Saga: New Moon began shooting in March 2009 in Vancouver and ended in Montepulciano, an ancient walled city in Italy. The two cities provided a strong contrast—the dark nights and mysterious, deep green forests of British Columbia, and the organic, burnished tones of Tuscany inform the film’s look equally. “The light in the Pacific Northwest provides a great deal of diffusion and coolness,” Chris Weitz says. “Within that, there are plenty of beautiful colors, and our intention was to use the lion’s share of them. Shadows are also important —the forest at night, the blackness of depression. “The light is much different in Tuscany,” Weitz notes. “It has much warmer tones and is literally much sunnier, with pops of color from the costumes. The architecture is different as well. Montepulciano is known for its Renaissance architecture, with remnants of medieval architecture as well.” Production designer David Brisbin »
