The First Clip from Hatchet 3 Has Made Its Premiere

10 November 2012 7:03 PM, PST

Tonight, FEARnet is running a block of Adam Green films (Hatchet, Chillerama, Frozen and Spiral) and somewhere within this programming the very first clip from Hatchet III made its debut.

An eagle-eyed ShockTillYouDrop.com reader spied the clip and sent us a rough-ish look.  You can watch it via the player after the jump.

The film will continue the saga of Crowley, the "Bayou Butcher," who first made his gruesome mark in the 2007 original. The movie is written and executive produced by series creator Adam Green, who also directed the first two films. Veteran camera operator McDonnell (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Hatchet 2) makes his directing debut.

You'll see a lot of familiar faces in this clip, including Zach Galligan.  Look for Hatchet III next year.  Hopefully, a better version of this preview will hit soon!

Meet a Town Haunted By a Slasher in the Short Film The Sleepover

9 November 2012 11:58 AM, PST

Yes, I'm tremendously picky when it comes to featuring short films here at ShockTillYouDrop.com, but The Sleepover was something I caught while at Fantastic Fest and I've been waiting to share it with you.

In fact, this short came in second (as a "runner-up") at Fantastic Fest under the short horror film category.  (Full disclosure: I served on the jury in this category with two colleagues from FEARnet and Fangoria.)

The Sleepover is a proof of concept piece, meaning the filmmaker, Chris Cullari, is using it to tout a feature film he'd like to see come to fruition.  The story concerns a town living "between the sequels" of its infamous masked killer.

Check it out!

Boom! Zombie Madness In the Trailer for World War Z Starring Brad Pitt

9 November 2012

Zombies are hitting the big time with the very mainstream and big budget spectacle World War Z, an adaptation of Max Brooks' novel.  I use the world mainstream because this is a studio zombie-themed adventure being marketed to the widest possible audience with an A-list star.  Moreover, it's a summer tentpole; Paramount is releasing the film on June 21, 2013.

That being said, the trailer has made its debut, and yes, it looks huge - but what do you expect from a flick that had a unenviable shooting schedule around the world?  Marc Forster of Quantum of Solace directs and, no doubt, fans of the novel will take issue with the various deviations the film takes from the source material.  Still, for tireless fans of the zombie genre (which I can claim to be part of), this looks pretty damn cool.  My concern is the visual FX fueling the horde of zombies. »

Santa's Up to No Good in This Exclusive Silent Night Clip

8 November 2012 10:00 PM, PST

ShockTillYouDrop.com has your exclusive first clip from Silent Night, opening in a limited theatrical run on November 30th and bowing on DVD/Blu-ray December 4th.

In this preview clip, you'll meet the murderous Santa and some poor sap (Brendan Fehr) who clearly thinks he's in some hot water over a woman.  Yessir, Santa's going to Punish.

I've got hopes for this one.  Also, adding sleigh bells to the soundtrack is a nice touch, I'm always a sucker for that.

In this loose remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night, a small-town sheriff (Malcolm McDowall) and deputy (Jaime King) go on the hunt for a murderous Santa Claus terrorizing their community on Christmas Eve. But with the streets full of Santas for the annual Christmas parade, the killer is hiding in plain sight. He’s made his list, checked it twice, and the naughty are going to pay with their lives. »

The Trailer for Warm Bodies Presents a Zombie Love Story

8 November 2012 11:59 AM, PST

Jonathan Levine, who landed on the genre scene with All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, has a zombie film on the way called Warm Bodies (based on the novel by Isaac Marion) and Et has premiered the trailer for this February 1, 2013 release.

And it looks kind of fun (I'm sure Bill Lustig is thrilled to see his Blue Underground Blu-ray for Fulci's Zombie get some screen time).

Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich, Analeigh Tipton, Dave Franco and Cory Hardrict star in the film.

Hoult plays a highly unusual zombie who rescues a girl from imminent death at the hands of his cohorts.  Their unlikely romance sets in motion a chain of events that will transform him, his fellow dead, and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

Shock Interview: Citadel Director Ciaran Foy

8 November 2012 7:14 AM, PST

One of the number one pieces of advice fledgling filmmakers receive is "work from what you know."  Ciaran Foy seems to have taken that to heart with his feature film debut Citadel, even if it meant revisiting a tragic and haunting period of his life.

Citadel, opening in New York City tomorrow (November 9th) and Los Angeles (on the 16th), concerns a young man named Tommy (Aneurin Barnard) who suffers a brutal attack from a hooded gang and is left to raise his baby daughter alone.  He develops agoraphobia and until, one day, the gang returns and he is forced to step out beyond the safety of his tenement to take them on.

ShockTillYouDrop.com spoke to Foy about his thriller and what made the process of developing the project so personal for him.
