'Valerian' Learned a Few Tricks from the 'Star Wars' Prequels

A space-age epic set in a few sprawling locales, Luc Besson’s Valerian shares many of the same successes and failures as a similarly ambitious series of movies, the Star Wars prequels. That trilogy often overreached for the sake of creative science-fiction, zipping its heroes around to multiple themed planets (a swamp planet, a fire planet, a city planet!) while nearly everything and everyone around those heroes outshone them.

'Blade Runner 2049': Inside the Comic-Con Experience Where You Can Be a Replicant

This year at San Diego Comic-Con, you can step into the year 2049.
The Blade Runner 2049 experience is positioned across the street from the convention center, making it just far enough from the major crowds but allowing it to still have a crowd all it's own.
On Friday morning when I stopped by, the line was already around the block, and the person checking people in said that it gets worse in the afternoon, at which point they break out white umbrellas to give to those waiting in line to protect them from the unforgiving San Diego sun. After »
