How 'Justice League' Rewrites DC's Cinematic Past

[Warning: This story contains spoilers for Justice League.]

Justice League is a movie that demands that its audience has seen Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in order to understand it, but hopes that its audience also doesn't really remember BvS all that well. Justice League sets the stage for a brighter DC cinematic universe by quietly rewriting the brief history of its own movies.

The most obvious shift is the core concept that drives Justice League as a whole: Superman's (Henry Cavill) death took hope away from the world, spiked fear and anxiety and activated the Mother Boxes, which feed »

How Sony Nabbed Quentin Tarantino's Manson Movie

In the wake of the sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein, his career-long collaborator Quentin Tarantino’s next movie became one of the hottest projects in years on Hollywood’s auction block.

Sony Pictures Entertainment made a high-powered presentation Nov. 8 that included chairman Tom Rothman, Columbia Pictures president Sanford Panitch and marketing president Josh Greenstein, but the studio had to wait on pins and needles for more than a week before learning it beat Warner Bros. and Paramount to land worldwide distribution rights to the film.

'Atomic Homefront': Film Review

A calmly infuriating look at an environmental nightmare that will have many viewers wondering "why haven't I heard of this before?," Rebecca Cammisa's Atomic Homefront introduces the Missouri communities who claim the dubious honor of having some of the world's oldest atomic waste buried in their backyards. More straightforward and less muckraker-ish in tone than many similarly themed docs, the film lacks some of the cinematic punch that can help break through the noise of a thousand tales of governmental and corporate wrongdoing. But its dedicated interviewees make the subject's seriousness undeniable, and with luck, their cause will attract attention »
