Role Models screenwriter Timothy Dowling has been hired by Warner Bros. to write the remake Uptown Saturday Night, which Will Smith and Denzel Washington may star in.

The original Uptown Saturday Night was released in 1974 and starred Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier. The story centers on two friends who lose their wallets at a nightclub. The next morning, they learn that one of the wallets contained a winning lottery ticket, and they both seek out to find it. It is believed the original story will be altered for this new take, although it isn't clear what direction they're taking. The film was also used for the basis of All About the Benjamins, which starred Ice Cube and Mike Epps.

David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) is attached to direct Uptown Saturday Night. Will Smith will produce the comedy alongside his Overbrook Entertainment partners James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz and Jada Pinkett Smith.
