Edge of Tomorrow and Sicario star Emily Blunt has boarded Lionsgate’s My Little Pony: The Movie to voice a new character.
Based on the lucrative Hasbro toy line, today’s announcement puts Blunt opposite Kristen Chenoweth in the animated adventure, best known for her roles across Glee and Broadway musical, Wicked. Pegged for a release in 2017, director Jayson Thiessen is to take point at the helm, working from a script produced by Meghan McCarthy, a regular to Ponyville having worked on the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic animated series.
Ready to make their big-screen debut are the film’s core cast of My Little Pony: Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity. No word yet on the specifics of Blunt’s character, though we understand it will be unique to Thiessen’s feature.
