Just let that sink in for a second. Tekken and Twisted Metal could go for a drink in a pub if they were people. For those that grew up with Sony’s little grey box, that is both amazing and downright terrifying.
The impact that the console had on the industry as a whole cannot be understated. It raised the bar for production values in games; making full-motion video (Fmv), CD-quality music and voice acting standard for every other disc-based console that followed it.
Not only that, but it pooped out amazing games like its life depended on it. They were so good in fact, that many of the franchises that made their debut on the PS1 (Metal Gear Solid, Tekken, Gran Turismo) are still going strong today.
