Michael Bay will not direct Transformers 5.

The filmmaker has reiterated his plans to exit the franchise following his fourth turn in the director's chair.

"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make," Bay told USA Today.

"I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles."

Bay briefly stepped down from the most recent outing before deciding to direct Transformers: Age of Extinction.

The recent film has already passed $1 billion worldwide.
