A new image has been released from the movie Beasts of No Nation.

Based on Uzodinma Iweala's novel of the same name, the film tells the story of a young boy in a West African nation who is forced to join a group of guerrilla fighters during a civil war.

The first image from the film shows Idris Elba as the dangerous commander of the guerrilla group.

Elba serves as a producer for the film, which has been directed and adapted by Cary Fukunaga.

Earlier this year, Fukunaga received critical praise for his HBO series True Detective.

Elba previously portrayed the late Nelson Mandela in last year's Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Actor category.
