Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has revealed his disappointment in Sir Bruce Forsyth's decision to step down from the show.

The professional dancer told Digital Spy that he wished the 86-year-old "would have gone all the way" and carried on with the show.

"I hoped he would have gone all the way, but... it's his decision to leave, so you've got to respect that," Cole told DS at the BNP Paribas Tennis Classic.

"Things do change, and you've got to go with change and hope that it doesn't affect the show in too many ways."

Shortly after announcing his decision to step down in April, Forsyth said that he believes committing to another series would have left him "mentally and physically" exhausted.

However, Cole said that he has faith in Forsyth's replacement Claudia Winkleman, who he believes will be "respected" in such a major role.
