The popular video game series Dead Rising is getting the feature film treatment, but not in the way you might expect. Instead of taking the challenge of turning this open world zombie video game to the big screen, the film will actually be a digital feature film that will stream on Sony's online entertainment website Crackle. Transformers franchise producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura will executive produce the film with a script from Tim Carter adapting the game set in a massive zombie outbreak. The film will follow four people avoiding the infection and pursuing the root of the epidemic, leading to a government conspiracy. As we always say, video game movies are tricky, but maybe there will be less pressure by crafting this a digital feature, especially with Contradiction Films behind the project.
