O'Shea Jackson Jr., son of legendary musician, actor and rapper Ice Cube, will play his father in the upcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.

Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and the widow of Eazy-e are producing the film for Universal, with Friday director F. Gary Gray taking the helm. At this time, Universal Pictures has not confirmed the casting.

Ice Cube described the script by Jonathan Herman as such:

"[It's a] dramatic story that encompasses hip-hop, dope-dealing, Reaganomics, AIDS, Lapd, rap feuds, FBI, Pmrc, the Parental Advisory stickers on the records... all of it."

Back in February, Ice Cube was said to be pushing hard to get his son cast in one of the four lead roles. He stated:

"I've been trying to get that pushed along. Just wanna make sure that he's the best man for the job."

O'Shea Jackson Jr. still had to audition against a number of potential candidates before winning the job, »
