For those familiar with the work of English director Edgar Wright, saying he is adept at bending various genres should not come as a surprise. It would appear easy to label both Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End as spoofs, but each is boosted by genuine storytelling and character development which elevates them above the fray, whereas spoofs are primarily content with poking fun at the genres they tackle.
