London — Alice Rohrwacher’s “Le Meraviglie” (The Wonders), which won the Grand Prix in Cannes, has proved popular with buyers, with sales company The Match Factory inking deals for multiple territories.

Rohrwacher’s sophomore feature, which is about a family of beekeepers in rural Italy struggling to maintain their independence, has been sold to distributors in France, Australia, Benelux, Latin America, ex-Yugoslavia, Greece, Portugal, Turkey, Poland and Taiwan, among others.

The Match Factory is following up firm interest from a number of other territories, and expects further deals, including Germany, shortly.

Le Meraviglie” was produced by Tempesta in Italy in co-production with Switzerland’s Amka Films and Pola Pandora in Germany. Apart from handling international sales for the film at The Match Factory, the company’s managing director Michael Weber also co-produced it through Pola Pandora, in which he holds a share.
