Writer/director Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) is leaving Netflix’s upcoming Daredevil series as showrunner and Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer/Spartacus showrunner Steven S. DeKnight will take his place, Marvel Studios has announced.

Goddard wrote the first two episodes of Daredevil and was set to executive produce and direct the series as well, but has been tapped to write and oversee Sony’s Spider-Man all-villain spinoff, The Sinister Six. Marvel announced Saturday that DeKnight—whose credits also include Angel and Smallville —will take his place as showrunner. Goddard will remain on board with the upcoming Netflix series as executive producer. »
