Following its success adapting a scathing look at British politics into the Us based House Of Cards, Netflix appears to be targeting the royal family next. The company is close to a deal for The Crown, a new series from Peter Morgan and Stephen Daldry.The show would be based on the pair’s celebrated 2013 play The Audience, in which Helen Mirren reprised her role as the Queen but played her at several points through the decades as she interacted with the Prime Ministers who have come to power during her time on the throne.Exact details on the show have yet to be announced, as the deal is still being made, but Morgan and Daldry would both be involved, producing the series with Andy Harries, Robert Fox and Matthew Byam Shaw, backed by Sony Television.
