Howard will produce with his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer, along with Eugenie Grandval and Claire Lundberg.
The studio has acquired movie rights to Joel Dicker’s novel, which has sold more than 2 million copies in Europe and is published by Bernard de Fallois’ Editions de Fallois.
The story centers on a young novelist who heads to New Hampshire to solve a 33-year-old murder — with his former college professor and mentor accused of the killing. Penguin will publish the book in the U.S. in May.
Imagine’s Erica Huggins and Alexandre Dauman are exec producing. Jesse Ehrman and Racheline Benveniste are overseeing for Warner Bros.
Howard is in post-production on Warner’s shipwreck project “Heart of the Sea,” starring Chris Hemsworth.
