'National Treasure' Director Set to Helm Disney's 'It's a Small World'

After finding success at Disney with The National Treasure franchise, even though development on a third film in the franchise has been stagnant, director Jon Turteltaub is staying comfortable at the House of Mouse with a new project. Deadline has word that the man who was also at the helm of Disney's Cool Runnings, The Kid and The Sorcerer's Apprentice will now direct It's a Small World, an adaptation of the staple theme park attraction with an infectious song that is celebrating it's 50th anniversary. Again, this sounds silly, but if Pirates of the Caribbean can turn into a billion dollar franchise, anything can happen. In what seems like an effort to capitalize on the success of The Lego Movie, Disney has landed that film's producer Dan Lin to produce this project, but we hope this won't try to lazily replicate that film.
