Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s Dimension Films has acquired North American rights to upcoming underwater thriller “47 Meters Down.”

The project, to be directed by British filmmaker Johannes Roberts (“Storage 24″), centers on two sisters trapped at the bottom of the ocean when a diving expedition to observe sharks goes horribly wrong.

Producers are Mark Lane and James Harris under their the Tea Shop and Film Company banner. Altitude Film Sales is handling worldwide sales.

“This script really caught my eye with its tension and adventure,” said Dimension co-chairman Bob Weinstein. “I look forward to working with Johannes to bring audiences a very unique, edge-of-your-seat thrill-ride.”
