After seven sequels, a remake, several unauthorized spin-offs and a handful of documentaries, it was announced a few years back that the Amityville Horror franchise would continue with The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes, a found footage flick that was originally set for release in 2012. All talks of the film quickly vanished, and it wasn't until earlier this year that we learned the project was still on the ole chopping block, and had been renamed Amityville. Now, a director has moved in.

Over the weekend, Bloody Disgusting broke the exclusive news that Franck Khalfoun will be sitting in the director's chair for the film, which is being produced by Blumhouse Productions, for Dimension Films. Though you may not know the name, Khalfoun is the guy who directed 2012's incredibly impressive remake of Maniac, and he had previously directed a film called P2, back in 2007.
