‘Fifty Shades of Grey”s Dakota Johnson Joins Johnny Depp in ‘Black Mass’
Dakota Johnson is in negotiations to play Johnny Depp’s love interest in Warner Bros. and Cross Creek’s Whitey Bulger biopic “Black Mass.”

Pic also stars Guy Pearce and Joel Edgerton with Scott Cooper directing. Cross Creek will co-finance with Warner Bros.

Pic is based on Bulger’s life story as one of America’s most famous crime bosses. Besides being a crime boss, Bulger was also an FBI informant who used this status as a way to eliminate criminal competition. After being tipped off by a childhood friend who worked for the FBI in the early 2000s about the feds being on to him, Bulger went on the lam, living with his girlfriend in a Santa Monica apartment building, and was not caught until 2011.

Courtenay Valenti is overseeing for the studio.

This marks Johnson’s first major part since landing the highly-coveted role of Anastasia Grey in Universal
