New Divergent 2,sequel movie 'Insurgent' officially happening,release date revealed. According to a new report from The Wrap, the Summit Entertainment (Lionsgate) folks have officially green lit the Divergent sequel flick, "Insurgent," after the movie brought in 4.9 million dollars in Thursday late night screenings. And the movie is expected to hit at least the $50 million dollar mark before the opening weekend is over. Jon Feltheimer, who is the chief executive officer for Lionsgate, had great things to say about Divergent as well as confirming the sequel, stating: "We're off to a great start with strong numbers from all regions of the country, urban, suburban and rural alike. We're confident that ‘Divergent' is on its way to becoming another important franchise for us, and we have just greenlit the second film, ‘Insurgent.'” They also reported that Insurgent is expected to arrive in theaters on March 20th, 2015.
