While a sequel for Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s smash hit The Lego Movie is already in the works over at Warner Bros, we may see the world’s favourite building blocks hit the screen in another form before that project comes to fruition – in the form of the long-gestating Lego Ninjago movie, centred around the Danish toy company’s ninja-themed world.

Warner is currently deciding which film to go ahead with first, as they currently only hold the rights to one sequel or spin-off – so it’s a question of which they want to move ahead with more, against which is more likely to secure them the rights to further films. At the moment, producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee have the option to take future movies to other studios, but by committing to the Lego world with Ninjago, Warner can strengthen their relationship with Lego to ensure future films. »
