British actor will leave Game of Thrones to play hero Frank Martin in action reboot due to shoot France this summer

The Transporter franchise is set to roll again with Game of Thrones star Ed Skrein replacing Jason Statham in the role of Frank Martin, the taciturn tough guy on a mission to move dangerous cargo, no questions asked. The rebooted Transporter action picture is set to shoot in locations around the French Riviera this summer.

Skrein, 30, worked as a Pe teacher in London before finding fame in the 2012 British drama Ill Manors. But he remains best known for his role as the heroic mercenary Daario Naharis in season three of Game of Thrones. He will now be replaced on the show by the Dutch singer Michiel Huisman.

The Transporter trilogy, backed by Luc Besson's EuropaCorp, earned about $240m (£146m) at the global box office and made a star of Statham. »
