Sundance: The new-look Focus Features led by Peter Schlessel has made its first high-profile acquisition in Park City, reportedly paying around $2.8m for North America, Poland and South Africa on Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here.

The deal closed on January 19 after Focus negotiated rights with CAA on behalf of the filmmakers. Wild Bunch represents international rights and closed a number of sales at Afm last year.

Braff famously turned to Kickstarter to fund his drama, which follows a young man at a crossroads in life.
